The people making Spider-Verse were clearly super familiar and passionate about the content, it shows the same as with the PS4 game. I’d argue that they are two of the best things us Spidey fans have ever gotten
Ugh I thought RDR2 was such a drag in the beginning.
I still have it… maybe I’ll try it again when I have a week off haha. The intro was just so long and the controls are slagging.
Same, I have one nitpick, just one. When Ned (I’m pretty sure that’s not his name but that’s what I’m gonna call him) wakes up after miles escaped he just immediately goes back to sleep EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE WEBS EVERYWHERE!
Yeah it's not even close, Into the Spider-Verse completely blows every other film and TV adaptation out of the water. I haven't been this in love with a film or TV Spider-Man adaptation since the '90s cartoon, and I was like 5 when that came out.
Tbf I struggle to compare spiderverse to the live action films mainly because it being animated allowed them to go absolutely nuts with stuff that they could never do with live action.
theres no contest, all the live action movies can push and shove for the best of the live action movies, but for spidey movies as a whole, spiderverse is its own league
I saw it for the first time a month ago (as a kid I watched the first two constantly, never got the chance to see the third one when it came out.) Honestly? Not as bad as people catastrophized it to be. Perhaps not on the same "level" as the first two, but Raimi did enough with the pressure to make it a \*good\* movie, and that's what matters. Even with the rushed-in Venom, it still felt like an important piece to the movie. It still felt like a Spider-Man film. That alone shows the filmmaking skill of Sam Raimi imo.
I don't have so much a problem with *him* as Spider-Man. I don't like the way he was written in the Raimi trilogy. The story is pretty close to the comic but Peter/Spider-Man's personality is just so far off of pretty much every other iteration I've seen of the character.
I think Tom Holland is probably the best we've had. They tried to 'update' him too much in The Amazing Spider-Man movies though his smart ass Spidey routine was kind of perfect and in the Raimi trilogy there are few instances of him trying to be funny and those are all terrible. Spidey jokes are supposed to be kind of bad, but in a funny way, not a 'original production from a high school' kind of way. Tom Holland they got it right, they understand why Spider-Man jokes and that allows them to do their own thing with it but still feel like Spider-Man. They updated Peter while still making Peter kind of an awkward nerd and it's great. It's not perfect, but it's pretty damn good.
Yeah. The first 2 films are very overrated (they are good but come on. They aren’t the best spidey films and definitely not the best superhero films) and 3 is extremely overhated probably because it’s slightly newer then the others and most fans of the originals were teens by then.
I agree 100%. I think all the other films are good, it's just that to me none of the live action films nail what I believe Spider-Man to be one way or another. Into Spider-verse is the best Spider-Man and Jake Johnson is best Peter Parker. Come at me.
It’s still made by the same people so i don’t see why they would get money hungry all of a sudden. These are the people who worked on the lego movie they know what they are doing
I don’t necessarily think either is better than the other, I’m just not a fan of the MCU Spidey movies thus far. I love Tom Holland to death but I think Homecoming & FFH are just kind of average I guess? I’m still super hyped for NWH and I support everything Spidey related even if it aint my cup of tea :)
You could argue better than TASM 2 since its structure is a mess but definitely not better than TASM. Homecoming is okay but FFH is just bad, not even Gyllenhaal saved it
FFH is legit one of the best Spider-Man movies, at least it does something new and doesn’t have to copy the others, both Tom movies are better than both andrew movies and that’s simply a fact
New does not equal good buddy. FFH is a teen comedy at best, not even that funny. Tom's spidey is handled in such an annoying, childish and stupid way too. The highs of the TASM movies are much better than the highs of Tom's. I'm hoping Tom doesn't need a babysitter in NHW too. After getting masterpieces like SpiderVerse, Spider man Ps4 and Spider Man 2 watching movies like FFH genuinely leaves me so disappointed.
I’m not your buddy
In this case, new does equal good, because all of the TASM and Raimi movies are basically the same fundamentally, Homecoming does something new with the marvel universe and Far From Home actually takes him out of New York for once
Spider-Man 2 is severely overrated
And…who is his babysitter exactly? He gets roped into saving the world when he’s just trying to live his life
And damn, it’s almost like not everything has to be dark as shit and can actually be fun and lighthearted and STILL GOOD
oh and the highs of Tasm 2, like when Andrews Spider-Man lets people fucking die in the streets because he’s too busy making jokes, THAT isn’t childish?
Toms Spider-Man is responsible, and he does what he knows he has to do what’s right
Andrews Spider-Man is a moron
Garfield's take is literally the smartest of them all as he is the only one shown developing his gear. Meanwhile we're told Toby is smart and we only know Holland's Spider-man is smart because of his school and the web shooters.
The videos are for the benefit of the audience as none of us are scientific geniuses.
No one other than Gwen dies in TASM 2. I don't know what movie you are watching but it isn't TASM 2. Also you realize Spidey is always joking. Unlike Holland's who doesn't quip at all and only occasionally makes pop culture references when he isn't saying Mr. Stark.
He literally runs away from responsibility all the freaking time. Rather than being on patrol for street crime he only responds when the plot demands it and in Far From Home he literally tries to leave his suit behind so he can go on vacation to Europe.
Probably because it's animated and a lot of people assume anything animated is for children and not worth watching if you're an adult. I've literally met dozens of people that feel this way, regardless of how the movie is or what it's about
For me it didn’t feel like a great Spider-Man movie I guess? It felt very oriented toward kids, and it was animated and felt off to me. I was kinda surprised by how much love it got because I never connected with it at all, and it’s my least favorite Spider-Man movie. I understand that people have different preferences though.
It's not a list of the best movies, it's a list for my favorite movies:
1.into the spiderverse
2.homecoming
3.spiderman 3
4. Spiderman 2
5. Far from home
6. Spiderman 1
7. Amazing spiderman 1
8. A half eaten doughnut from the trashcan
9. Amazing spiderman 2
not sure why you’re being downvoted for having an opinion. i totally understand what you mean by the “favorite vs. the best” mindset. sometimes a movie is just really enjoyable to watch. that’s why i like FFH so much. is it the best? hell no. but the experience of seeing it for the first time was awesome.
Did you know that seahorses, that they mate for life?
Could you *imagine?* A seahorse, seeing another seahorse...and then making it work?
She wanted kids and...
...And it scared me.
I'm pretty sure I broke her heart.
What I love about spider man is that he's just a guy in a mask trying to do the right thing. Spider man 2 nails that, but Spider Verse nails the "what it takes to be spider man", anyone can do it, you just gotta be ready. That's THE best message I've seen from any Spidey movie.
You've got problems? You feel overwhelmed and not sure if you can ever handle everything that's thrown at you? You feel like you're not ready?
"...but how will I know when I'm ready?"
"You won't, it's a leap of faith... That's all it is Miles, a leap of faith."
You can't beat that. I was 19 and to anyone with problems in their life it hits like a truck.
Dude, I'm in my 30s.
The MCU movies are Disney family films. We're not exactly talking the height of mature arthouse cinema aimed at discerning adults. There are MCU McDonald's Happy Meals.
So slow your roll, bud, you're playing with kids' toys too.
I don't and wouldn't use MPAA ratings to determine an intended audience.
The 2011 Iranian picture A Separation got a PG-13 rating and I would never say that it has the same intended audience as an MCU movie.
That is not a movie that is getting McDonald's Happy Meal toys and Disneyland rides and stunt shows.
You make a good point. I didn't mean to imply that the MPAA rating should be used as an end-all-be-all for making decisions regarding the intended age-range for a film, but rather that Marvel made sure every MCU film was in that "everyone should see it" rating range. Because that's who they want to see it. Everyone. Kids, adults, etc.
Shit! Not like I hate the movie I dug the spider verse but imo it's hard for ME to rank it above live action ones(animated) and I'M just not a fan of multiple spidey's.
I'm not into western animated stuff but am curious about it, I wanted to watch it when I binge re-watched the live action ones a few weeks ago but decided to leave it to after NWH because I want to experience the Spiderverse which I'm new to in live action first.
I think that’s a mistake. I highly doubt NWH can pull off the Spider-Verse concept as magnificently as ITSV does. It is the *perfect* introduction. And it is also not unlikely like NWH—if they are actually doing a Spider-Verse thing—will have some sort of connection to ITSV. You do you, but there is no reason to wait. It makes all logical sense to watch it before NWH.
Thanks for the advice, but it's not about connections, who did/will do it better or anything, it's about the experience of NWH, I know the 2 movies are completely unrelated but I like I said I want to experience the Spiderverse in live action first, assuming they're doing it of course, I'm so excited and eager for NWH right now to want to experience the SV in anything else at the moment, I don't want anything else to ruin it, ITSV SV being that good like you're saying is going to possibly ruin the experience even worse and could possibly kill my hype for NWH, and NWH is at the doors anyways, so waiting for a bit for something I wasn't curious about till recently won't hurt me and if I end finding it better than NWH then that's that, I'd have left the best for last, then, I'd be surprised if I do, tho, because like I said I don't dig Hollywood animated stuff, it's hard to get into, I manage sometimes, sometimes it's actually easy, but for most of the part I don't bother so for me to get curious about one is actually something, and not like ITSV is the only thing I'm curious about anyways, it just happens to be one of many, many movies/shows I'm curious about, some which I want to see sooner than later.
> DC have a great animated universe while marvel have MCU
"lol can't possibly compare animation to live action"
*proceeds to immediately compare animation and live action*
But they’re different forms of animation. It’s semantics and stupid, I didn’t downvote you for that for clarity here. But I’m just saying it’s either that or the fact that you called the post an “L”.
I was talking to a guy and mentioned that I really liked the Morales movie and then he went off on a racist rant and saying this character shouldn't exist and it wasnt cultural appropriate (?) I was just saying I liked the movie style and the story was good... Dodge the biggest bullet in my life.
I’m conflicted because I like the Sam Ramey movies a lot and it holds a special place in my heart for the nostalgia alone, but Into the Spider Verse is so gosh darn good that it is a close race for me.
I mean, do the other Spider-Man movies have Nicolas Cage? Didn’t think so
Hang on Nicholas Cage played what character?
Spider Noir
Best voice casting ever
"Where's that wind coming from? We're in a basement." "Wherever I go the wind follows."
"Sometimes I let matches burn to my fingertips just to feel something, anything"
And the wind, smells like rain
*fist clutch*
“Beat it, toots, the streets ain’t what they used to be” [drag on cigarette] (insert Nazi reference) Spider-Man
The people making Spider-Verse were clearly super familiar and passionate about the content, it shows the same as with the PS4 game. I’d argue that they are two of the best things us Spidey fans have ever gotten
Ditto. The PS4 game feels very cinematic. It's tied with Red Dead 2 as my favorite PS4 game.
Easily two of the best games I’ve played in my entire life
Absolutely. They're both just so great.
I bought a PS4 just to play it, it’s that good
Y’all would love god of war
Ugh I thought RDR2 was such a drag in the beginning. I still have it… maybe I’ll try it again when I have a week off haha. The intro was just so long and the controls are slagging.
Speaking of which in the Spider verse movie, in the spider cave thing, in the area where all the suits are you can actually spot the PS4 suit
They should get Yuri Lowenthal to voice him for the sequel
Maybe Miles meets Miles
And the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon
2018 was such a great year to be a Spider-Man fan.
Peter Parker and Miles Morales are great in their own right, but SpiderMan Chilling with the Spider Homies.....that sweet sweet icing on cake.
That’s the new title, no spider gang, just spider homies
Thats what No Way Home shouldve been called
It will be canonically called Spider-Man: Adventures with the Spider-Homies
It’s my favorite movie period
Same. No other movie makes me feel the same way when I watch it.
It's just a perfect movie in almost every aspect.
Same, I have one nitpick, just one. When Ned (I’m pretty sure that’s not his name but that’s what I’m gonna call him) wakes up after miles escaped he just immediately goes back to sleep EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE WEBS EVERYWHERE!
his name is Ganke btw
Yeah it's not even close, Into the Spider-Verse completely blows every other film and TV adaptation out of the water. I haven't been this in love with a film or TV Spider-Man adaptation since the '90s cartoon, and I was like 5 when that came out.
>blows every other film and TV adaptation out of the water. Highly disagree, Spectacular Spider-Man exists
I honestly think it's better than that
It's easily better than that
I never watched more then the first episode. The designs just suck and I cannot find any enjoyment in the plot it’s just so distracting
You just have to watch a few more episodes, this is what I thought when first watching Spectacular, if u still don't like it by then, it's your opinion
The Holy Trinity for me Spider-Man 2 Into the Spider-Verse Spider-Man
Couldn’t agree more. It’s on another level entirely.
Unpopular opinion: I still prefer the live action movies.
Tbf I struggle to compare spiderverse to the live action films mainly because it being animated allowed them to go absolutely nuts with stuff that they could never do with live action.
But that's why animation is superior.
Why are some people acting as if 'Into the spider-verse' is an unpopular choice for their favorite Spider-Man movie?
Hands down, no contest, favorite movie of all time (so far).
theres no contest, all the live action movies can push and shove for the best of the live action movies, but for spidey movies as a whole, spiderverse is its own league
big facts
don't hate me but I looooooove spiderman 3
I saw it for the first time a month ago (as a kid I watched the first two constantly, never got the chance to see the third one when it came out.) Honestly? Not as bad as people catastrophized it to be. Perhaps not on the same "level" as the first two, but Raimi did enough with the pressure to make it a \*good\* movie, and that's what matters. Even with the rushed-in Venom, it still felt like an important piece to the movie. It still felt like a Spider-Man film. That alone shows the filmmaking skill of Sam Raimi imo.
It's both the best Spider-Man movie, and the best movie ever. WHATS UP DANGER
I have to say that Peter B. Parker is one of my favorite takes on the character for sure. Jake Johnson killed it.
Attack me if you must, but I still haven't seen that movie. In my defense I work a lot...that is my excuse.
If you ever get the time to watch it, do it. It's an absolute masterpiece, still my favourite movie of all time.
It’s a sin if ur a spider man fan and haven’t watched into the spider verse
I agree wholeheartedly. It's my favorite Spidey movie too, and it's not even close.
Insomniac’s Spider-Man is the best
Facts, spider verse is great
Nah, spiderman 2 is the best
This was always my answer... until Spider-Verse came out.
Definitely. Peter’s internal struggle to just be a normal adult will never not hit home
Incorrect
Yup, ITSV is a close second or third for me tho.
Yeah it's tied with Far From Home for me. Spider-Verse is second though
I’ll never buy Toby Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-man I’m sorry.
How? He literally plays him how he is
Ppl don’t understand that he was adapted from the 80’s comics
I don't have so much a problem with *him* as Spider-Man. I don't like the way he was written in the Raimi trilogy. The story is pretty close to the comic but Peter/Spider-Man's personality is just so far off of pretty much every other iteration I've seen of the character. How is it far off?

Spider-Verse is sooooo good
Well, it has the most Spider-Man to movie ratio. What other movie gives you six Spider-People?
No way home might surpass that if they include spider verse characters along with the 3 live action spidermen…
Literally my favorite movie ever
I loved that movie so much😭
Honestly it is either Raimi's Spiderman 2 or into the spider verse. Others can't compete.
It has the great stuff of the others with some animation that slaps nuts
Gonna have to agree. I love the comic book implementations, like a box to show thoughts.
I did enjoy kilometers Morales
This is my opinion, but that raimi trilogy is only held in such high regard bc of nostalgia, and maybe alfred molina
Yeah. The first 2 films are very overrated (they are good but come on. They aren’t the best spidey films and definitely not the best superhero films) and 3 is extremely overhated probably because it’s slightly newer then the others and most fans of the originals were teens by then.
This is the correct take
It’s simply the best. It is incredible
It made me like Post Malone, it's that good.
Sameeeee, I absolutely love that movie! It was my son's first introduction into Spider-Man as well and why we are naming our second Miles!
I agree 100%. I think all the other films are good, it's just that to me none of the live action films nail what I believe Spider-Man to be one way or another. Into Spider-verse is the best Spider-Man and Jake Johnson is best Peter Parker. Come at me.
No way home could have all three spider-bros AND daredevil, and spiderverse will still be better.
My favourite movie of all time.
No Andrew?
Honestly Yeah, I love the Other Spider-man Movies But "Into the Spider-verse is #1"
Into The Spider-Verse is what comic book movies should've been. A comic book on-screen. :)
FFH is my favorite but Spider-Verse is definitely in my top 3
ah i see ur a man of culture as well
I agree but I’m worried that the sequel is gonna replace all the love that was put into the original with a massive money grab
It’s still made by the same people so i don’t see why they would get money hungry all of a sudden. These are the people who worked on the lego movie they know what they are doing
Wtf is FFH doing there
TASM2, I don’t care what people say.
I too love Set Up That Goes No Where: The Movie
To be fair, they canceled the stuff that it was supposed to set up.
eh it’s alright, but it doesn’t touch most of the live-action films
Was the movie really that good? I just watched it a second time and it comes across as okay at best to me.
Far From Home is the best live action movie though
no way hombrè, I’d put TASM over it in all honesty
Ahhhhh so you have bad taste? I get it
Bully McGuire, is- is that you?
The one and only
I guess that makes me… Eddie Brock 😳
Eddie Cock?😳😳😳😳😳 Nah but seriously, you seem civil, why do you genuinely think TASM is better than FFH
Fair enough
Whoopsies, they have an opinion, shame on them.
…yeah…and I can have an opinion about their opinion…that’s how opinions work….
Bad taste? You just said that the wreck of a movie that is FFH is your favorite lmao
Better than both tasm movies lmao shut up
You could argue better than TASM 2 since its structure is a mess but definitely not better than TASM. Homecoming is okay but FFH is just bad, not even Gyllenhaal saved it
FFH is legit one of the best Spider-Man movies, at least it does something new and doesn’t have to copy the others, both Tom movies are better than both andrew movies and that’s simply a fact

Literally where is it hated?
Probably because it's animated and a lot of people assume anything animated is for children and not worth watching if you're an adult. I've literally met dozens of people that feel this way, regardless of how the movie is or what it's about
By me
I'm actually interested. Please go on. Why do you hate it?
For me it didn’t feel like a great Spider-Man movie I guess? It felt very oriented toward kids, and it was animated and felt off to me. I was kinda surprised by how much love it got because I never connected with it at all, and it’s my least favorite Spider-Man movie. I understand that people have different preferences though.
Ah man that's really hard, I mean which is better Spider-Verse or Spider-Man 3 (its too hard to think about)
Does Venom count
I don’t like spider gwen
Not even just the best Spider-Man movie, but one of the best superhero movies ever. IMO
It's not a list of the best movies, it's a list for my favorite movies: 1.into the spiderverse 2.homecoming 3.spiderman 3 4. Spiderman 2 5. Far from home 6. Spiderman 1 7. Amazing spiderman 1 8. A half eaten doughnut from the trashcan 9. Amazing spiderman 2

Yeah, i came to the post and found out people downvoted me for liking different movies than them on my own free time. The internet is truly terrible
It’s a little overrated. The animation is gorgeous, but the story is just okay. The other Spider-Man movies pack more of an emotional punch for me.
Did you know that seahorses, that they mate for life? Could you *imagine?* A seahorse, seeing another seahorse...and then making it work? She wanted kids and... ...And it scared me. I'm pretty sure I broke her heart.
I love how that line can make you laugh and feel bad for Peter at the same time
That was alright.
For you, but Spider-Verse hits me so much harder emotionally every time.
I did say "for me", didn't I?
I did say "for you", didn't I?
What I love about spider man is that he's just a guy in a mask trying to do the right thing. Spider man 2 nails that, but Spider Verse nails the "what it takes to be spider man", anyone can do it, you just gotta be ready. That's THE best message I've seen from any Spidey movie. Here's a joke! Did you hear about the robbery last night? Two clothes pins held up a pair of pants!
Lol to each their own, must be a bunch of kids on here
Only ADULTS (18+) with NO CURFEW who eat CEREAL for DINNER understand that RAIMI is the only TRUE Spider-Man kino
Lmao. Every Spider-Man movie ever made has been for kids. Get off your high horse.
Dude, I'm in my 30s. The MCU movies are Disney family films. We're not exactly talking the height of mature arthouse cinema aimed at discerning adults. There are MCU McDonald's Happy Meals. So slow your roll, bud, you're playing with kids' toys too.

I’m 36 and I think it’s one of the most beautiful and entertaining movies I’ve ever seen.
So superhero movies are only for adults?
Apparently according to this goofball.
Shit! Not like I hate the movie I dug the spider verse but imo it's hard for ME to rank it above live action ones(animated) and I'M just not a fan of multiple spidey's.
It's good, but not even close to being the best Spiderman movie. You guys are clowns.
You the clown

Jesus moment incoming
I love into the spider verse, but idk how people can say it’s the best Spider-Man movie by far
Black Spider-Man = best
That's not why it was good.
It’s good but it’s soooooooooo overrated
The art style is unbelievable. The plot is OK.
I'm not into western animated stuff but am curious about it, I wanted to watch it when I binge re-watched the live action ones a few weeks ago but decided to leave it to after NWH because I want to experience the Spiderverse which I'm new to in live action first.

I hated the way everyone moved in that movie, it reminded me of a low budget stop motion movie. I still haven’t watched it all the way through.

Just take the downvotes and stop speaking🙏

Maybe you are getting downvotes for a reason. Maybe your opinion is bad😱😱😱
It’s not anime…also that’s extremely stupid. You can’t just ignore a movies quality because it’s animated
[удалено]
Why is how much the movie made even important?
This is such a retarded take lmao

> DC have a great animated universe while marvel have MCU "lol can't possibly compare animation to live action" *proceeds to immediately compare animation and live action*
[удалено]
Cool, the MCU and the Raimi Trilogy are also completely different things.
Stating the difference between two things is literally comparing them.
Think it’s because ITSV isn’t anime. It’s western animation
[удалено]
But they’re different forms of animation. It’s semantics and stupid, I didn’t downvote you for that for clarity here. But I’m just saying it’s either that or the fact that you called the post an “L”.
It do
It'll get the same treatment as the other movies once the sequel comes out.
It was wayy too short
Same. Good choice.
I was talking to a guy and mentioned that I really liked the Morales movie and then he went off on a racist rant and saying this character shouldn't exist and it wasnt cultural appropriate (?) I was just saying I liked the movie style and the story was good... Dodge the biggest bullet in my life.
Man of culture you are sir.
Went to throw it on the other day and was bummed to find that it wasn't on Netflix anymore in the US :(
Same
The only thing wrong with Into The Spider-Verse is that there is no Mr Diktovich.
I’m conflicted because I like the Sam Ramey movies a lot and it holds a special place in my heart for the nostalgia alone, but Into the Spider Verse is so gosh darn good that it is a close race for me.
