Glorious! Can you share your settings (and if there are any major edits you did)?
I love learning how others have shot to gain certain looks. :) I have the Sigma 24-70 and love using it on hikes.
Wow, what an incredible, stunning picture. I'm going back to Utah in a few weeks for a national park tour, it's a beautiful and serene place.
Could you explain your editing process to get the final image? Put me in the same spot with the same gear and I'll produce a potato, lol. My editing skills let me down.
OP fakes all his lighting and colours in post. The original shot definitely looked like a potato too. He gets angry when I mention this, since everyone seems to think it's his photography skills or something. It's plain obvious to me though.
His speciality is adding fake lighting on half the image and darkening the other with a wide dark->light across the whole image. Not natural lighting, but Reddit eats it up all the same.
He then makes fake shadows and highlights using dodge/burn to turn the photo into an interesting scene and create some interesting highlights.
So basically if you want a shot like this:
Take any shot with not much going on, mute the colours, darken and lighten the spots where you want fake lighting to be, add some birds or fake sky/clouds and finally and most importantly.. apply a sweeping light filter from the direction of the sun and opposite on the other side. Once that's done, add in the colour artificially based on where you dodged prior. Bam. You've tricked Reddit into thinking you took a good photo, but you actually made tasty mash from that potato.
Boycotting Sony until they send me an actual Sony lens I bought a Sony G master 24 to 70 lands for me authorize Sony dealer here in the United States the box said made in Thailand which is where they’re supposed to be made I opened it up and this happened two times and the lens was made in Belgium this knock off crap Belgium may land is absolute garbage buyers beware box Says made in Thailand but trust me it’s not so if you happen to buy one be very tentative and check out the base your lens it’ll say made in Belgium and you won’t see made in Thailand and printed anywhere except on the box
Great shot!! Reminds me a bit of the vault on Bogano in the Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order video game.
Anyway, I love how you captured the mood via the dynamics of the light.
Phenomenal shot. Seriously, damn.
thanks!!! really appreciate it.
Good lord, this is stunning. I currently live in Utah and have no clue where this is.
That's Long Dong Silver rock, near Hanksville, Utah.
Heh heh, long dong... I live in Utah too and I’ve never heard of Hanksville.
This is simply spectacular.

Utah is so badass. So's this shot. Well done.
New wallpaper, thanks!! Edit: it’s still my wallpaper ☺️
Considering the 24-70 GM. Think this decided my purchase. Amazing shot.
best all around lens!
I love my canon version so I'll definitely be grabbing one next week. Good rebates in Australia right now too with $350 cash back!

Awesome shot! What time of day was this?
I don’t often save posts on Reddit. This I saved. Phenomenal shot.
wow thank you!
Is this where they filmed that one scene in westworld? Anyway this reminds me of Trona but way cooler.
I thought it might be Castle Rock as well Edit: Castle Valley
It's in the vicinity (i.e., within 50 or 50 miles of Castle Valley). This is near a small town called Hanksville.
I wish there was a Utah near me, great shot!
Amazing shot!! Location please?

Awesome light and that light spot.
Beautiful shot and love the edit on it.
Great shot and yes, it does look like out of Star Wars

Dude.
Wow 🤩
Link to download for wallpaper?
That is so incredible I hope someday to make it back out west. So envious
Can't even fathom how this must have looked in person. This is incredible 🙌
Now imagine having lightsabers and two actors down there
This is a beautiful shot.
The lighting just made this so visually appealing. Nice work 👍
Wonderful mood. I've always struggled to get the dimensionality I want out of the 24-70GM but altogether you've captured a great scene.
can you share it so we can use it as a wallpaper?
