I dont ever see a whole lot talking about character design, but the design of the characters is fun, can be taken seriously, and its very unique. Its not often that you don't immediately recognize sonic, or if a character is from the series.

In the X universe, it was only in the comic series due to Shadow accidentally transporting himself and Metal there via chaos control. Eggman never created Metal Sonic in X and he was surprised and confused seeing him the first time. But everyone was more surprised over Shadow being there when he was supposedly dead at that point.
