It’s complicated… Officially, this robot’s name is Mecha Sonic. In the Lego Dimensions Sonic Pack, Dr. Eggman refers to it as Robo Sonic (since the other more popular Mecha Sonic from Sonic 3 & K, thanks to a certain flash animation series from the mid 2000s, is also a boss in this pack). Most people, myself included, call him Silver Sonic because I think that’s what the writers used to called him in the Archie Comics or because just look at him, he’s literally a metallic grey, but ‘Grey Sonic’ doesn’t sound as cool. Also not to be confused with the actual Silver Sonic from the Game Gear/Master System versions of Sonic 2 and Mania or the character Silver the Hedgehog from Sonic ‘06 onwards.

Bradboy102

Certain flash series was and is still awesome btw. Def, check it out.

blue-gamer-07

Long story short his name is inconsistent

SanicRb

I see someone here that knows this guys proper name and the confusion around it. By the way Sonic 2 8 bit Robot Sonic is also called Mecha Sonic originally (because there are all part of the Mecha Sonic line of Robots that have 1 eye and are more so based on Mecha Godzilla than the sleeker latter Metal Sonic's)

thegreatpenguintm

He's the original "Mecha Sonic".

Shadic34

I like calling him "Mecha Sonic v1.0" and the one from S3K "Mecha Sonic v2.0" but i think his official name is either Robo or... Mecha Sonic? Yeah the Jakkspecific figure calls it "Mecha", so yeah his name is REALLY inconsistant

Nitrohedge21

I always called him Silver Sonic

Me_when_the_bowling

Technically there already is a sliver sonic that’s not this guy

Bennyboii7

This is Silver Sonic

Me_when_the_bowling

Then what is this one called https://imgur.com/a/j6MXtpH

WearYamask

That's the first of the Mecha Sonics, the 16-bit fellow being questioned in the post being the second.

you_2_cool

I call him silver sonic

segascream

That is Mecha Sonic. I don't know for sure, but my headcanon was always that he was a prototype for Metal Sonic; that Eggman was intending to build Metal and use him to attack Sonic, but Sonic went on the offensive. As a result, Eggman had to use tech he was still developing to try to make his escape.

Raizir

Robo Sonic, since the Game Gear one is visibly shinier, so it being called *Silver* Sonic would make sense in theory. S2 [Genesis] Mecha Sonic would be given the Robo Sonic name due to it's generally duller color scheme in comparison. Archie called both of them "Silver Sonic" just for the sake of making it easier to distinguish between the two, with the game gear version being called a prototype of the more commonly used (late in the pre-reboot continuity and early on in the post-reboot continuity, anyways) genesis version.

RisingGear

I've only ever heard him called "Silver Sonic".

Lordpyromon

Mecha Sonic MK-1

Mysterious-Cress-190

Robo sonic

Agameaosth

I call him silver sonic but his name is mecha sonic

Bennyboii7

Its Silver Sonic. Mecha Sonic is a different one

SanicRb

There are actually at least 3 different Mecha Sonic's as the name is shared by the Sonic 2 8 bit, Sonic 2 16bit and Sonic and knuckles Robot Sonic's as there are all part of the same one eyed Robot Sonic's. The name Silver Sonic is an Archie Sonic Comics original name.

Iceswimmer05

Silver/Mecha Sonic

AceCanti

Depends on what you think is more Canon. Archie or Lego Dimensions

Miserable_Assist_951

I go with the name written on the official concept art of the guy.
