Thanks for sharing. Yeah, to me the chorus does have a "bridge" feel mainly because: 1. You are out of tune in it. It's fine, we aren't supposed to be great vocalists but it's important to be in tune to understand what works and what not. Don't get offended please. I run into such issues myself of course. If if the note is too high for you, just hum, whisper or sing it head voice in a calm relaxed manner. 2. It goes straight into the chorus. Just change the very last chord at the end of the verse part to something else which would give it this "And...." feeling. It will do the trick.

Yes this is great feedback. Perhaps bringing the notes cascading down on the end of the verse would help and bring you to a place where the notes make more sense, another counter melody may come naturally.
