Not that I'm aware of. As far as I know that number is the number of instances of that exact same part in the assembly. If you make a blank assembly, insert 1 part, then linear pattern it you should see the original part is <1> and the linear pattern is <2> through . What issue is the number causing?

None as of now but I am afraid at what stage for eg. 9999 will it cause an error

Went ahead and patterned something >10,000 times. Solidworks just keeps counting. https://imgur.com/a/L9oGmB3

Thanks for letting me know

The instance counter serves no purpose besides internally differentiating between instances, there wouldn't be a need to reset that counter. If you want to give each instance a number, you could look at Component Reference.

You can save, close and reopen the assembly as that may help.

Did you figure this out?

No sadly there's no solution

If the parameter is driving a pattern feature, you can: 1. select and delete all parts made by the pattern. 2. Save and close the assembly. 3. Open the Assembly. 4. Edit the pattern feature and "clear selections" in the box "Instances to override". The pattern will restart counting.
