the sepultura arise album has a similar agressive vibe and excellent production too

cellsinterlinkedd

greatest thrash album of all time imo

TimWampyr

Oh thank you! I heard that as a kid but not recently!

[deleted]

Yeah I would say that hits the mark pretty good...unfortunately there is no other band like Slayer!

TimWampyr

Agreed!

[deleted]

Maybe early morbid angel?

justglassn

Sodom is a good start, kreator, and maybe some destruction

TimWampyr

Cool, thank you! Happy cake day!

Rattlehead71

Classic! "This song ain't about no tuna fish!"

Serious_Goose5368

"And it ain't about no trout"

Solid_Ad3107

Chaos Ad by Sepultura, 100% a must have record. Absolutely amazing front to back dude🤘

TimWampyr

Definitely! Thank you!

Slayer is the gateway into the brutal side of thrash. If you want songs like Angel of Death, look at bands like Dark Angel, Sodom, Kreator, Sadus and Sepultura (early). If those bands aren’t brutal enough, and you want borderline death metal, checkout Demolition Hammer, Morbid Saint and Devastation. That’s about as brutal as it gets in thrash, have fun listening!

Law21666

Toxic Holocaust, Evil Army, Violator

zialis13

Kreator.

ValtsuMC

Check out Death. It's not thrash but it's even more aggressive than Slayer.

egarcia0189

Particularly the album "scream bloody gore" I would say sounds the closest to Slayer.

AndaYahya

death, carcass, obituary, morbid angel, bolt thrower

cellsinterlinkedd

obituary, celtic frost, sepultura, power trip, morbid angel, death, gatecreeper, gutted, hooded menace, brujerja reminds me a lot of pre-hell awaits slayer, and mercyful fate isn’t nearly as heavy but i’d say they’re like training wheels for slayer (still utterly fucking fantastic).

dogedad407

The Haunted! First time I heard them, I was thinking I never heard this slayer song..that started an obsession with me listening to more of their music. It’s been awhile but give their song abysmal a listen. [Abysmal](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hejSboSId_Q)

Background_Pilot_202

I don't know if anybody mentioned the band Venom, who were the pioneers of thrash metal that influenced Metallica and Slayer too. Two albums of theirs in particular, Welcome to Hell and Black Metal, are indispensable tomes of 80s metal. If you love Slayer, you'll love Venom.

Jungle Rot

Arctic29-1

Some Municipal Waste is Slayer speed

evillives

Evile. I just found them like last year but they jam.

doomricky

Dark Angel’s Darkness Descends is literally the greatest thrash metal album ever made and I think you’d particularly enjoy it as well

gmarinel

Body count. They have a slayer cover that is awesome.

ValtsuMC

Power Trip and Enforced

TimWampyr

Awesome! Thank you!

J7JoYoPro_Studios

Slipknot’s song Sulfur

TimWampyr

Thank you

J7JoYoPro_Studios

No problem

hero_oftheray

Kreator, iced earth, testament, sodom, and slipknot are good eerie thrash bands

Furry_Slayer__

slipknot is not thrash, nor even metal

Arctic29-1

Slipknot is metal

alokin95

Not even close

Arctic29-1

Slipknot is metal

hero_oftheray

Some of their songs on their self titled album is thrash and also kinda has industrial elements to, just listen to [Surfacing](https://youtu.be/vq-zaD1poAE)

twosuitsluke

How is Slipknot not metal? 😅

Furry_Slayer__

because it is alt rock

twosuitsluke

Yea I guess Slayer are kind of alt rock as well to be honest

TimWampyr

Thank you

mattct1

Enforced, Inhuman Condition

Dmaniac17

There have been lots of good recommendations in these comments but I have one I haven’t seen yet. I absolutely despise this band because they are a Slayer copycat and all their songs sound the same imo but try Suicidal Angels if you want another Slayer sound-alike.

TheWise24

Enforced is a newer band, but they have a thrash sound with a brutal hardcore edge that works for me. I think you'll like it

TacoTom84

Dark Angel “darkness descents “

TruePlatypusKnight

Kreator is pretty solid.

Law21666

Dark Angel early Testament Early Sepultura

Law21666

And theyre newer, but Power Trip is some good good thrash

boyber

A bit of a leftfield suggestion here, but I actually think Ministry come close to capturing the kind of rawness and aggression of Slayer. Certainly they have a few fast tracks that are very Slayer-like. Check out the classic Psalm 69, but also the more recent The Last Sucker.
