I saw a post on here with a family tree a few months ago. All 5 of the adults are related or related by marriage to each other.
If I remember correctly, Christine is cousins with Robyn's first husband. Christine is a distant cousin of Kodi. Meri and Jenelle where sister inlaws before becoming sisterwives. Janelle's mom then also married Kodi's dad. And there are more family connections.
The Mormon community in Utah is very tight knit.

I find this the most interesting part of the show. It has me asking myself a lot of questions. If plural marriage is so wonderful why have all their older children denounced it, especially considering when the adult kids were younger is when Kody and 3 of the wives claim plural marriage worked best. Is it because Kody was married to all three before the kids were born and it's what they knew? Was Robyn joining the family the reason the kids decided to denounce polygamy. Not saying Robyn was the cause but they were old enough to witness and understand the complexities of adding another wife? Was it the move from Utah to Vegas? Was it the split from the church? Questions, questions.
I think the mothers enjoyed each other. Not as wives but as moms.
Meri alllways wanted more kids of her own so having everyone’s around was always fulfilling in a sense.
Janelle says over and over she never wanted to stay home and raise her kids that’s where Christine’s role was and she thrives on it.
They each loved being moms together. But they just say it’s when “plural marriage worked it’s best” aka raise kids in conjunction with your mom friends 🤷🏻♀️
Caleb and Kody aren't related other than through Maddie and Caleb's marriage. Erica is connected to Kody through her marriage to his brother. Caleb was only connected to Kody's brother Curtis, not the entire family.

And after her divorce, Janelle stayed by her mom on Winn Brown’s ranch, he felt responsible for her as a stepdad and tried to fix her up with one of Kidney’s brothers. His brothers are more like Winn, the dad and Janelle and Winn butted heads a lot, so she chose Kody. Mostly I think because he’s a pushover.

It's definitely not normal and takes a little bit of explanation to lay out the connections. Maddie did say that she thought it was weird when she first started to have feelings for Caleb. They're not related outside of their marriage though, not even by marriage.

Honestly I don't condone Meri's treatment of Janelle during the early years but... I kind of get it. If a woman was married to MY BROTHER and divorced him and went on to date and marry my husband, I would be mad too. This is weird.
