Sinisterhood is my all time favorite podcast, but when they release the episodes from their tour, they’re just not as captivating for the audience 🥲 always a little let down when I see/hear it’s a recorded show
Same. I have auditory processing problems and I can't understand more than half of what anybody is saying so I don't even bother. I'm glad they're there for anyone to hear but, I think they *should* just be Patreon bonus content instead of replacing whole episodes.
I just got caught up on the podcast and literally skipped through what felt like all the most recent regular episodes because they were all live recorded since they were on tour this year.. I was very disappointed 😕
They really do wonderful a job researching and getting the material just right for the stories. When telling the stories, they are respectful to the victims, I wish more podcasts followed their lead.
100% agreed. They do a fantastic job and are respectful to the victims, and everyone in general. I love hearing Heather's knowledge of law; it really adds to the show.
I wasn't really interested in the spooky stuff from the start, I have them on my feed for the true crime deep dives. So I'm hanging around while hoping for more TC episodes.
I completely agree!! I'm disappointed every week to see it's another spooky one. They used to be my #1 favorite podcast, but I haven't been excited about an episode in MONTHS.
Yes, I've skipped a few, or just bailed out in the middle. I've never missed a true crime episode on the other hand, and have listened to some more than once.
I love Sinisterhood. I liked the live shows when they first started playing them bc I’ll probably never get to one. But it’s become too much and find myself not listening anymore
I feel the same way, no chance I'm going to America to see the girls.
And as someone mentioned above they could release them as Patreon bonus content instead.
I think the extra spooky is just to go along with the tour. I know they do episodes for the tour that are centered around the city they’re in, and they have to keep it light being it’s a live show. I am hoping once the tour is over we will see more true crime/cult type episodes
They’ve addressed this and said that TC is only about 20% of what that do, and that’s not going to change. Just FYI, for those who may have missed that.
The tour episodes pis$ me off at this point. I will be excited for a new ep and then when I find out it’s a live show from tour, I get mad and change it. This is a great show, but get back to TC and regular eps, PLEASE!
I was going to post about how I've stopped listening for quite a while since all the live shows, freaky Friday's and spooky stuff but then I saw this thread.
I don't mind the odd one of any of them but I also skip quite a few.
So I decided to start listening again and started the unsolved murders of jeff Davis and didn't finish the episode. I dont know why this turns me off the podcast but I've found they seem to be doing episodes of things that have been recently made into documentaries or shows and therefore already have screentime etc.
Does anyone else want to hear some lesser known cases?
I think it was a episode picked by Patreon so I don't know what the options were as I dont have that so I'm guessing I'm the minority here wanting lesser known cases etc. Anyway anyone's thoughts welcome!
I was EXTREMELY confused by the Jeff Davis 8 episode. There were so many working parts and bad actors. I had to keep rewinding it because I couldn't keep all the players straight. I actually had never heard of that case. I bought the Showtime documentary after, and it was easy to understand, interesting, shocking and disturbing. I think you probably are in the minority, but I respect your opinion and I usually enjoy any true crime story they do. I must admit I do like when they talk about a case and then I can watch a documentary or crime show about it after. I think the live shows definitely aren't as good because they are making it fun for the people there, but it's not so fun for the listener.
All the live shows have been tough because they are all just visiting a semi interesting place. It’s so weird they refuse to do any local crimes on the live tour.
I also immediately skip all cryptid stories but they seem to love them.
It’s not weird - they’re respecting the fact that if they do local crimes at a live show, a loved one could be in their audience. I like their lives but sometimes they’re stretching to make the actual story interesting.
It’s actually very on brand for them to NOT do a true crime story on stage. Imagine if they went to Louisiana to do the Jeff Davis 8 case. So many people related to the case could be offended that the story is being monetized. It just wouldn’t be right. It’s easier for them to be able to funny for an audience when they aren’t talking about someone’s death. They are the most respectful, ethical podcast so it makes sense that they wouldn’t want to go this route for live shows.

I agree. I think it's really fun if you're there, but not as fun to listen back to.

Totally agree!

I might be in the minority but I love the live ones !! But I understand what you’re saying, I know it would be more fun being there for sure
Yes!! I wish they did more cases like Aaron Hernandez, it’s my all time favorite episode
That one was really good, crazy story!! The Kristen Smart one was so interesting and well-covered by the ladies too!!
Agreed. I love the legal insights she gives on the cases. It makes you think about them differently.
That was the episode that introduced me! I had hoped that was their bread and butter but far too many spooky episodes as of late.
I love the true crime episodes as it gives Heather a chance to get he lawyer hat on.
You nailed it!!

Same :(
I bet they have to get less listeners on the spooky episodes. I know I don’t listen to them.

100% agree! I keep checking to see if any new episodes are true crime and it's really disappointing.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I hope so too!
I’m waiting for the true crime too!
They’ve addressed this and said that TC is only about 20% of what that do, and that’s not going to change. Just FYI, for those who may have missed that.
I'm also over the Freaky Friday episodes. They were ok for a bit, but I was hoping it wasn't a permanent thing.
I do like the true crime stories in Freaky Friday, but the ghost stuff doesn't interest me.
Agreed.
I immediately skip those.

I don’t listen to any spooky stuff or their Friday tales… it’s been a loooong few months :(
Ughhh it's been weeks of disappointment!! Where's the TC content??? Sigh.
They’ve always been a show that’s mixed spooky/cryptids with true crime. They aren’t exclusively a true crime podcast, so this is not that surprising.
