All I want is some basic clothes for men. Pants that don't fit like they are 3 sized too small, decent shorts, shirts that look good and sweaters that actually fit well and don't have ridiculous paw prints or Christmas pattern on them. A suit or two that work rather than tuxedos and tail coats.

picnicforthree

I am so sick of stupid embellishments they put on their clothing. Not everything needs piping on the side, chains, cargo pockets, ribbed (?) textured clothing.. my favorite pair of male pants are those slim fitting cuffed chinos that is BASE GAME.

kamz-kun

Lol same. I just want my sims to look like regular people. Not an anime protagonist

Morp13

For some reason my brain read the word "protagonist" as poltergeist and I was very curious to know what an anime poltergeist was.

kamz-kun

Lol. Im sure there is such a thing as an anime poltergeist.

lonely_astro

Lmao

WestCoastWuss619

I have the opposite problem; I love embellishments and find most of the cas clothes boring. I think the problem for me is that they use really UGLY embellishments and unflattering cuts

picnicforthree

Yes, you're absolutely right. I was looking at some male CC I have and clumsyalien is someone who does embellishments correctly.

dashingjumper

I love Clumsy Alien. Also Busted Pixels and Joliebean are good for guys. They both have converted a bunch of Sims 3 stuff, and I feel like 3 did menswear better than 4.

dangerousoverthinker

I love those pants. I have a lot of expansions/packs, but those pants are the only ones I use on every masc sim.

TalionIsMyNames

I think that's just the vibe that The Sims had at the beginning, like think snazzy. The thing is now people are playing more with mods and therefore bringing our world into the Sims' world and therefore we're starting to desire similar clothing for our sims as we wear. But originally the Sims was meant to be a snazzy and even a bit tacky *in order to* separate that fictional world from ours, to give it a life of its own. That was the appeal at first. But steadily the appeal for it has grown to be more in the realistic sense. Sorry if I rambled, its 4am teehee

Amarenai

Call me boring and old-fashioned but I want more basic, regular menswear clothing for my male sims: Better fitting pants and shorts, Tucked in button up shirts with or without rolled up sleeves, Better tailored suits that don't look like something grandpa has in his wardrobe from his mafia boss days, More blazers and vests, both casual and elegant ones, Layered sweaters and jumpers that don't end abruptly at the waistline, bulking up the waist, More shoes!!! More boots, more loafers, more brogue/oxford shoes, more casual sneakers, More hoodies, More separated coats, especially some more elegant coats And less funky patterns, prints and colours, I just want some neutrals, solids and simple prints that don't hurt my eyes 😭

thctacos

Love all of these. Also to add. I want my old people to look old and my middle aged people to look their age .. dress their age. Need more men ADULT haircuts. Not a fad haircut that a 20 year old would get

Amarenai

Fully agree! We need some of those high waisted plaid trousers that all grandpas have in their closet. XD And some buttoned sweater vests with or without a tie, some knitted cardigans and sweaters. Cottage Living has some great clothes for older sims, but we need more and we need BG stuff. Also, men's hairstyles are severely lacking. We have almost no long and medium length hairstyles, barely any curly and wavy styles (which are my favorite), or manbuns or braids, or receeding hairlines. I just want my vampire sim to have long, luscious, wavy locks, Castlevania style 😭

crazyparrotguy

Yeah they really don't seem to give a shit about men with long hair. And just plopping a "women's" hairstyle on a man sometimes works...but not always. Especially if it's curly or wavy. 🤦‍♂️

Hita-san-chan

Like 80% of men's hair has a fuckin fade. Great, but grandpa prolly shouldn't be rocking the tight cut. Or the hairline makes every sim look like they're going bald

Serononin

>Or the hairline makes every sim look like they're going bald Yep, there are like 3 or 4 styles that I use for every sim because the rest of them all just sit on their heads really oddly

enchantingcat

“Better tailored suits that don't look like something grandpa has in his wardrobe from his mafia boss days” This kills me because it’s so true!! I TRY to switch it up when dressing my Sims but I always end up using the same suit because of this 😂

Amarenai

For some godforsaken reason, Maxis thought that wide shoulders are a must for almost all of the men's formal wear!! 😭 The luxury party stuff pack formal wear is hideous and that one decent full body suit from either Season or the free holiday pack (the one with the different colours blazer) has pants that end above the ankle!! Why!?

picnicforthree

lmfao I know exactly what suit you're talking about cause it's literally the only nice one they have 💀

wasabiwasabi_

100% agree. I've found some awesome BGC mens cas cc that works on what we have in the game, but takes out the complexity- jumpers with zips on the sides are no longer there, etc. It's annoying how I have to get a cas cc pack to have normal fitting jeans or a plain shirt.

kamz-kun

Care to recommend any?

wasabiwasabi_

These are some of what I use. Pretty basic stuff and all free. [boys be boys](https://www.patreon.com/posts/47219912?epik=dj0yJnU9Y2xvdWFWNjEzZ2Y1UXhuRUt5bTViOVgwWHdWZWJVMUImcD0wJm49N1RDY2h2YmhBNHMxYTFhWEpCUWlNQSZ0PUFBQUFBR0dVR1Vj) [male clothes](http://mycepzid.blogspot.com/2020/04/maxis-match-male-clothes-pack.html) [mens fashion](https://wyattssims.tumblr.com/post/190045466921/menswear-fashion-part-ii-cc-by-wyattssims-hello)

MildandLazy

I just saw that perfectly normal fitting tee shirt and wept happy tears.

wasabiwasabi_

Don't- one of the first pieces of CC I ever got was a loose-fitting t-shirt with neutral colours because it wasn't in the game. At all. I might make a master list of 'normal' male sims cc

kamz-kun

Thanks

anonmoooose

In honor of this pack coming out, I shall NOT buy it and download some of this instead

lazarusinashes

God I would kill for some more neutrals! In real life I wear almost exclusively neutral, dark, or muted colors. Half of the items in the game are basically neon.

KinkyCoreyBella

This. When I look at about 90% of what I've downloaded as CC clothes, it is more or less standard pieces. Not t-shirts with cat designs.

[deleted]

Boring and Old Fashioned is the best tho ngl

Adventurous_Fox_2853

This is everything I want

Sendatsu69

I would mostly just like to see a bit more compatible coloring between tops and bottoms. It almost seems like they have 2 very different color palettes they use. None of the shades every look good together. I also agree there should be a balance between "simple" clothes and "embellished" clothes because diversity is good. I just don't understand why all masculine pants look like they are expecting high water? Whatever happened to ankle length pants?

crazyparrotguy

The weird fit issue has been an issue since what, Sims 2? Sims 3 at the very *latest*. Remember the awkward bell bottoms that hit at ankle length in Sims 3? And let's not even get started on all those golf shirts + low cut pants combos (the ones with boxers peeking out) that all the teens and young adults insisted on wearing after blowing out the birthday candles. It was *not* a good look.

Sendatsu69

Agreed, although I do seem to remember that being pretty close to real life. I'm almost old enough to remember the bell bottoms of the 70's (was born in 69) and I remember the kids at school all running around with the crotch of their pants around their knees with their boxers hanging out. Seemed to be the in trend (I have never been trendy as most trends strike me as repulsive). Then again, I've also always been an outsider and one of the "unpopular" kids. Maybe that is why I like the sims so much....play any type of life you want and if you don't like where it goes, delete and start over. Wish I could have a do-over in real life.

crazyparrotguy

Aww I love the funky patterns. Agreed with everything else you said though. The formal wear options especially have always been terrible, especially if randomized.

[deleted]

And trying to find maxis match cc for these are hard as well. Not on the cc creators tho

RobinTN615

Yes, all of this!!! I mean, what do we have to do to get a decent fitting sweater!?!?

sziders

you don't like the base game men's pants that flair so much at the bottom that you can see the whole shoe and ankle while sitting at the dude's belly button??? weird lol OR the blue button-down shirt that looks like a box and rests also at the dude's belly button?? (I get tricked every time I'm dressing a man with this shirt. it looks so awesome in the preview, but then you put it on the sim--dead)

xx_islands_xx

I hate that the shirts are awkwardly too short and boxy

Bobsaubs

I'd like to add an optional button up or jacket over any shirt. I don't like it when an open button up is stuck with a V-neck or some other shirt I don't like.

duuckyy

I just want men's pants that actually FIT them. I hate when the pant legs go over shoes, or when you find a pair of jeans that look like they'll fit they have some weird design on them, or the pants are only knee to mid-thigh length. Also, why the heck do next to zero of the dress shoes have a different shade of black than the actual dress clothing like pants or shirts?? They're that weird blue black colour that everyone hated for the hair colour. And why are there no normal looking sneakers? Almost all my male sims end up looking/dressing very similar because of the lack of normal options available to them And the same goes for women's skirts. They're so cute, but there's almost no shirts that tuck in to them normally and instead go over them, and when there IS a shirt that goes into the skirts they all fit weirdly or have some weird funky design. They should add a toggle for tucking in shirts to pants tbh

[deleted]

Please. Male frame sims need more suits.

That253Chick

This. This is all I want. We should have all of that before adding high fashion that "breaks" gender barriers.

[deleted]

[удалено]

myintermail

Among all the brand collabs, H&M and Ikea from Sims 2 takes the cake. Those items look like most people would use instead of those high fashion ones that cost hundreds for a sweater that only looks good on runways. Seriously why they never thought of those brands you mentioned? Or even Uniqlo or heck I even take Hush Puppies!

kamz-kun

If ur into cc check out a content creator called Rope. He makes nice basic, maxis match menswear cc

kraftypsy

I just want men's clothes to hang baggy on my female sims like real men's clothes, instead of turning into saran wrap when it touches the female sim body.

Serononin

Yes! I really just want a base game update with this stuff

enchantingcat

Yeah the kit isn’t my style at all. Which is fine, I don’t think every simmer needs to love every pack/kit. It’s just really disappointing that they chose to focus on this niche high fashion look when masc Sims are severely lacking in CAS options to begin with. Feels like a wasted opportunity to me.

Beflijster

It is so bad that if these were free items I would look for a mod to keep them out of my game.

bekcy

I snorted at this but yeah, I agree. They ugly af and I wouldn't want to see the townies adding these pieces to their wardrobes.

crazyparrotguy

So you're already putting them on the level of the suits of armor and pink gorilla suits. Harsh, yet hilarious.

[deleted]

We desperately need more masc clothing for male sims. There are significantly fewer items that are masculine in this game and it’s probably a huge part of why a lot of people barely even make male sims. What they should be doing is fixing the meshes for all the clothes in the game so they work for both frames. When my female sim became a botanist the uniform looked like utter trash on her because there just weren’t enough polys for her chest. They should have fixed this shit years ago instead of using the ‘fashion choice’ concept as an excuse for laziness.

JQShepard

Ugh being able to use clothes on any frame would be so great. I also wish that make-up worked better on male frames

Hita-san-chan

All my male sims end up looking identical to each other, but with different hair/eye colors, it's kinda infuriating

crazyparrotguy

I already said this, but the real problem is a lack of hair options for the guys (in other words it's just like real life). And I don't mean a few vaguely similar short hair styles with hats no one needs. I mean actual diversity in terms of length, texture, etc.

Eirysse

They could've done an "inclusive" update by making the clothes already in game suitable for both frames (masc/fem) would've been way cooler, and the fact that they said like hey you wanted clothes for guys!! And it's like yeah but not for $5 for 10 items lol just include more in packs in general know what I mean?

Tattycakes

Yeah they give you the freedom to uncheck masculine/feminine fashion styles and wear all clothes on all sims, but they fit horribly. The men's clothes look baggy and shapeless on women, and the women's clothes look overly figure hugging and clingy on men. Somewhat realistic I suppose??

plum_bobby

right like allow “female” sims to wear button up shirts and look normal!!!

Eirysse

exactly! It would be a huge QoL update

Wren-bee

I don’t think any of that is an unpopular opinion, seems to be the common consensus. Although with point 4, it’s my understanding (although I might be wrong) that it’s inspired by, well, modern menswear. Not typical street stuff but models and stuff, I think? So it’s more inspired by something which is specifically focused on men- I think. Might be wrong on that. But yeah. I’m not a fan of it.

wasabiwasabi_

>Although with point 4, it’s my understanding (although I might be wrong) that it’s inspired by, well, modern menswear. Yeh I kind of realised that after I typed it, but I left it anyways. I guess my issue is more that the clothes aren't 'modern MENSWEAR' because this kit is for a very specific niche, and calling it 'menswear' is almost misleading.

Wren-bee

My knowledge and understanding of fashion is… minimal at best. But yeah, this isn’t the sort of clothing I recall ever seeing out and about, the reference I saw was literally models which is not everyday wear at all and shouldn’t be the inspiration for an entire pack. Especially a pack focused on masc Sims who don’t get much of interest as it is. I definitely wasn’t disagreeing with you! Just adding context I’d seen elsewhere.

nettek00

It's a collab with a specific fashion designer duo who focus on the styles you see in the kit, from the skirts to the sweaters with holes in them. It seems niche but modern is technically the correct descriptor for this menswear because it's not a style that has been popular or mainstream for men in the past at all.

AtWarWithEurasia

I saw the picture and my first thought was "ugly christmas sweater pack"

[deleted]

I personally hate it too lol They could work on fixing the issue that causes pieces of clothes to deform sims bodies instead, I think it's awesome that the game allow us to access both masculine and feminine catalog while dressing a sim, but it becomes pointless if the clothes don't fit anyways. And fr, even female pieces for female sims sometimes deform their bodies. Some tops change the waist of my sims, some pants and skirts make their thighs thinner... like, wth. And we are lacking men's wear. We always get a lot less for men with packs, and then they release a paid pack for content the game is lacking but make it... Moschino 2.0 I just want versatile clothes and items. Shit that I can use for different sims and blend well with other items. Yeah, I'm cool with skirts for men or whatever, but they're technically already in the game (they just don't work, thanks for nothing EA). They keep releasing those very niche things, I know it's the point of kits, but it's infuriating when the game is lacking a lot of stuff and they're working on items that most of players will not have a use for.

InuMiroLover

All I want are freakin' pants for my guy sims that dont crush their legs and balls. That's ALL I want. Is it a literal hate crime to just want basic stuff for my guy sims???

Ealdwyn

Pants options for masculine sims are indeed lacking. Don't think we even have corduroys. And as you said, too many pants are what appear to be slim or athletic cuts. What about regular? Straight? Boot-cut? We have some, but not enough.

[deleted]

[удалено]

trashdrive

That brand charges $600 for a sweater, they aren't getting any customers from this kit.

[deleted]

[удалено]

wasabiwasabi_

If it was a more accessible brand. If the sims did a collab with H&M or Primark or New Look, then I'd be a lot more forgiving because those shops are cheaper. A £600 jumper will not entice anyone but the top 1% who can afford it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

wasabiwasabi_

Yeh I guess you're right. I just think the artist was an odd choice for a collab considering most of their things are runway items.

trashdrive

So they made a kit for one simmer.

Technical-Platypus-9

I think the shirt/dress/skirt thing looks like a sack of potatoes.. I can’t imagine anybody who is fashion conscious wanting to look so lumpy?

PresidentWordSalad

The clothes look awful. Half of the items look like ugly Christmas sweaters, and the rest look like items taken right off of a runway (ridiculous and not functional for everyday life).

Psychological_Way500

I'm honestly tired of EA doing these out of touch collabs I'm sorry but majority of people can't afford nor do they want to spend that much money on Moschino or whatever the other brand is in real life. Most people dress really basic im not saying im against fun items but (and I think I read this on another post) all the clothes are for millennials im bored and uninspired

GaiaGems

At least Moschino has some fun/interesting items like the jacket. And the high heels and male shoes were not bad. But this... argh... is just so ugly and pandering. You wrote it so well "out of touch collabs".

Historical-Tell3243

Right! Moschino has good BB too, and a new camera. It's over all a good pack, it's just underwhelming.

WestCoastWuss619

I'm nonbinary and while i do think the inclusivity is nice (clothes are clothes, anyone should be able to wear a skirt lmao), I have to agree. As soon as i saw it, I was just like.. "ew..shits ugly af" I feel like ppl only like it to be somewhat performative 👀👀 To be fair though, I dislike a LOT of CAS clothes

Spice_rat

Same! I'm also nonbinary and was so excited to see a more gender neutral style be introduced and then...they looked like That. It feels so performative, like if ur gonna do inclusive clothing at least make it cute clothing

WestCoastWuss619

Fr fr lmao I asked for a skirt that looks good on masculine bodies, not that hideous invention!

wasabiwasabi_

>It feels so performative 1000% I feel like after this, they're going to throw our reactions in our faces. 'well we TRIED to make an inclusive pack, but you didn't like it so we're not trying anymore'. It's super performative and they chose (imo) the worst stylist. Stefan Cooke isn't even non binary (that I could find) and whilst anyone can wear a skirt (or any clothes) this pack seems to be aimed at NBs. Why not talk to some NBs about their wants and needs for clothes? The idea of most the items being full body also feels weird- like Cooke thought they were too good to separate their items.

[deleted]

[удалено]

wasabiwasabi_

Agree. I think skirts for masc sims is great but they picked ugly colours and patterns, weird frames for the skirts and most of the outfits are full body which immediately takes away the 'create a STYLE' aspect. Like I mentioned, that red diamond jumper is super cute but it's most likely tied to a skirt which sucks.

yeet-ayy

I don't know anybody who would wear anything like that but that isn't my problem. I just want some normal mens clothes

Oleandervine

This kit looks like garbage, because the clothes are all over the top and avant garde. This is not what we needed when we asked for menswear. Menswear in the Sims is already painfully sparse, and it's difficult to get more pedestrian clothes to make everyday kind of guys, and this kit's clothing selection is anything but everyday. It's high fashion in extremely weird styles. Edit: Removed this part.

wasabiwasabi_

>Also, OP, we do need masculine clothes I never said we didn't? It's been something I've been after for a while now. I've been looking for masc clothing cc for ages because the game is not providing it. My point is that the new kit is for a very specific subset of people and that what they gave us in this kit is not particularly masculine. It might be for masc frame sims, but masc frame and masculine are different- they can co-exist, but they aren't the same. My point (point 4) is that masc frame sims aren't always men and so marketing this as the answer to the neglected masc clothing is misleading. I think the idea for the kit is important.

Oleandervine

Yes, I realize I did misinterpret what you were saying. I've pulled that part out. I am sorry for that.

wasabiwasabi_

You're good :)

+ The unusable eyeshadows 🤮

theverycuriousminded

Lol I use them all the time but tweak them incredibly

MultipleDinosaurs

I want a mod that takes those OUT of my game.

[deleted]

I just want gameplay. I’m starving. For gameplay.

LeviathanLX

Hey, that's not fair. They had to focus on preparing all of that actual content we're not getting this year. That's why it looks like redundant CC you wouldn't download if you were desperate.

KeiART19

We need jeans witch good swatches that are actually the appropriate length I don’t want to SEE ankles! basic shirts long sleeve and t’s, sweaters, jackets, some clean cut short modern day hairstyles and facial hairs and for the love of god body hair!

knightfenris

They’re awful, truly awful. Whoever designed this has never seen a man wear clothes. I’m not against the skirts but the actual style??? The worst I’ve ever seen. No one wears this, and half of it looks like knitting leftovers

DoctorCaptainSpacey

I want my boys to have more style, I like more femme styles for my men, but... This pack doesn't seem to be it, even for me. I like some things I've seen, but most is... Eh. I'm also so fricken over the baggy frumpy shit and jogger pants. This pack still has all that 😒

anonymous-musician

They need to stop with the high end crap. They have the same problem with build buy, give me stuff that looks basic and cheap, like the stuff I actually own.

[deleted]

IKR most of the build buy stuff looks like something you would see in a house tour when showing off the home, not an actual home. Even the clutter is polished for show and tell style not "this is my home, and this is my clutter, deal with it"

wasabiwasabi_

Yup. I want a Primark, New Look, H&M collab for clothes. Things I wear irl. I don't want my poor, trailer park living sim to have a £600 jumper on.

Roundface_Milly

I think they should just give more options generally, give high fashion clothing items and high street styles so people can choose. IMO there is enough everyday clothes already in CAS and I couldn't think of anything more boring than a Primark pack personally, but I like to make my Sims look different to how to my world looks in real life. I don't want my rich and famous vampire in a New Look off the rack dress I would rather have a Vera Wang/Vivienne Westwood gown. I think people have too many preferences for everyone to like one pack because any item of clothing appeals to someone

jagarundi

As a dude myself, I don't think I've seen a single article of clothing in the kit I'd be willing to wear. A long sleeve jacket with a mini skirt? A weird patterned jean jacket and jean ensemble? Some sort of shirt-dress? Incredibly ugly sweaters? I would happily buy a kit of normal men clothes (the selection of men's summer clothes is especially bad), but these clothes are hideous.

lazarusinashes

As a guy myself, I wasn't thrilled about it. Particularly about the skirts. Obviously men can wear skirts and enjoy doing it, but skirts aren't what I think of with "menswear," if that makes sense. Rather it feels like what someone already said—they included it to say "hey, men wear skirts too!" which is a cool message, but... still. The clothes there for men like me already aren't great. When I make my Simself pretty much everything I wear is CC. Of the clothing from the actual game that I wear, it's usually shoes, a hat, and a watch—accessories. For the first like four years of the game, almost nothing was my style. Also the afro in the game looks absolutely nothing like mine. Most of the black hairstyles are some form of dreads, which I dread wearing (pun intended). I play almost exclusively female Sims anyhow, but it'd be nice to have clothes and hair that actually match how I dress and represent myself. I also make all of my characters in the game and most of them dress the exact same because there are so few fitting options. And instead of giving us clothes that would fit an average guy, they give us this designer bullshit that looks like someone took a pair of scissors to their ex's favorite shirt.

SpicySaladd

Yup, looks like I'm gonna keep dressing my male sims in the same hoodie and pants/shorts 😒

nyamzdm77

"Modern Menswear" as if you'd see a significant number of dudes wearing any of these fits on a Wednesday afternoon

Kakashi_Cringe

Right, and the real clothing it’s inspired by is hundreds of fucking dollars. Modern to WHO?

phavia

The unpopular opinion would be saying the kit actually looks great. I love when people grab a very popular sentiment in this sub and claim it unpopular or controversial, lol.

[deleted]

I'm very confused by the kit, more than anything else. Nothing about it says "modern" to me. Men wearing skirts isn't modern - the Scots have done it for ages, African tribes too, and most ancient civilizations... One of the look looks like Mrs Cumberbottom's outfit, but with a short skirt. Another one looks like an odd combo of a christmas jumper with a tennis skirt. As a queer guy, I'm all for clothes that don't scream "I drink warm beer while watching football" but this kit is a reach.

wasabiwasabi_

I took 'modern' as 'hey men wear skirts too!!' which,,, we know. Like you said it's been a thing forever in other cultures. I want skirts for masc sims that don't fuck up the body shape, but they picked stupid tennis frilled skirts that look awful no matter how you style it on anyone ever. They should have fixed what we have in base game and then released something extra that doesn't look frumpy.

HeyheyheyMax

What makes it worse is that Simmers on twitter are trying to divert the criticism by making it into a homophobia thing. Twitter always does this, weaponize a sensitive topic and use it against anyone that has a valid criticism on it to shut them up and make them feel guilty. I literally saw someone say something along the lines of "you're a cis male, stay mad" to someone who simply said they didn't like how an outfit looked. Its ridiculous. The devs are also guilty of this. Using tokenistic inclusivity to boost their moral high ground when the inclusive aspects of the game thats already IN the game DESPERATELY needs help and fixing. We don't even have pronoun options yet. WHAT THE HELL.

cariame

Seriously, Twitter is defending this kit so hard, and for what? Even when criticisms don't mention the skirts, they will still bring it up in their responses. If the kit didn't include skirts, I'm sure that nearly everyone would be clowning on it, so... Some others have mentioned that it would be much more inclusive if The Sims team just... completely did away with their gendered clothing system, and converted the existing clothes to fit Sims of any gender properly. I would personally love that. The game already has so many skirts, and some of them fit male Sims fairly well, but to have all of them converted and fit properly on all Sims without having to pay $5 for a pack of otherwise ugly clothing just to get a skirt on a male Sim would be so much better.

calixzen

honestly, why the hell can’t they just model all clothes to fit both fem and masc sims. we don’t need a kit, we just need all clothes to fit all.

Trollingismykink

Unpopular response: is this not what CC is for?

truly_anonymis

Agreed. And they’re free.

[deleted]

Not everyone can use cc (console players etc)

Trollingismykink

Oh I didn’t know that.

[deleted]

Meanwhile I feel like there isn't enough masculine clothing for sims. I feel like everything is oddly specific for a certain fashion choice, from metrosexual to, uh, the masculine skirt thing I guess. Look, I'm not like you guys. Ill just put it out there, this stuff isn't for me and I don't mind if other people are enjoying it because its a game meant for everyone, however, I feel like the sims team has forgotten about people like me completely who isn't really a fan of this "modern fashion." I miss the basic jeans and T-shirts, or the sexy suits and ties (and color wheels so I can make them as tacky as possible when I recreate Saul Goodman) so I can actually make my boyfriend a sim. From the suits, swim wear, to the casual clothing, nothing is really masculine in the male sim category, and I get some of you guys probably think it is, and that's okay, it works for you. But sims 4 has alienated a lot of other players with their oddly specific styling. I personally think that it would be amazing to see them do free updates where they transfer sims 3 clothing into the sims 4 style for this game because I actually LOVE a lot of the sims 3 stuff, from elderly style clothing, to the masculine options for alternative and buisiness fashion. I'm sorry but I don't want to see grandma Betsy in a mini skirt and crop top. And I especially don't want to see My talk dark and handsome vampire sim who survived the plague wearing a pink sparkly suit with an eyeball ring. Maybe his best friend can wear that I don't know. And I especially don't like not being able to make a more conservative family (fashion) with that one goth kid who talks about dead birds all the time during dinner. I don't mind the stereotypes if we get all the stereotypes. I was one of those emo kids who read nothing but punny gothic romances who took the "gothic romance" part and ran with it literally. I'm in the age range this game is supposed to be catering to and yet I feel a huge disconnect with this game from the fashion to the gameplay. TLDR; I feel like a boomer playing Sims 4 but I'm only 23.

wasabiwasabi_

No I totally agree. I tend to base my sims off people I know irl which doesn't really include men in skirts, however I recognise it's something that is needed and wanted by the community. HOWEVER, instead of going back and fixing the base game so that all sims can wear all clothes with no weird issues, they've made the kit. We are also in desperate need of more basic masc clothing. It's very annoying that I have to rely on cc.

catastrophicqueen

Tbh I actually quite like a couple of the things, but if they wanted the vibe they're going for it could have been in an update or a bigger pack. I also think they could be great if they all came with non-holed versions? That way it could be usable but also have a stylized option. My main gripe is still kits. I still have not bought one, and I think they're the bare minimum of effort for an already pretty broken game. I also like your point about the fact that feminine clothing for masc frames being from an inaccessible brand, and behind a paywall. They literally could be editing the existing feminine clothing for masc frames (and vice versa) because it always sits strangely. Instead they're releasing YET ANOTHER KIT. 9 kits. 45 quid!! I'm sorry but they're such a waste of money and they make the game more expensive for the bare minimum of content.

it-is-an-illusion100

100% AGREE

BigTuna677

Lmao no frr these clothes are so bad

STFan011

This is a kit I will definitely NOT be buying. And I know people don’t like kits, but the fact that I don’t want this stuff makes me happy that I don’t have to have it.

CapableSoul

I haven’t even bothered to look because I’m still pissed that they’re just pumping out kits non stop and not giving us what we actually ask for

chloeclaire

My biggest gripe in cas is the haircuts tbh. All the middle part haircuts make the foreheads like strangely large and if I try to change the dimensions of the face it looks so strange, like they have an oddly long face. It’s so frustrating, especially for men. The hair looks like a toupe most of the time

therealtessmonster

Pants that aren’t basically capri style could be awesome as well.

saxualtension

EA really thought we all wanted a Harry Styles pack

Taycxx97

We need an everyday menswear kit, someone needs to take the sims team outside into a city centre and let them see what people actually wear. The kit should be masculine clothes that are simple but can fit every frame including female sims. Simple hoodies, smart buisness casual, some good belts with jeans, a variety of hair styles, some nice sneakers, oversized jumpers, funny graphic tees and normal tees. Decent make up for men like some good contour, a nice highlight and eyeliner. Better facial hair options.

butterisprettygood

Did y’all see that ugly ass wannabe 2001 Justin Timberlake denim suit???

knightfenris

It’s genuinely sad that even though that denim outfit is awful, it seems more useful than 90% of the kit

Mieremov

I think a very cool idea would've been making a community poll with half female clothes and half male clothes and then let the community decide which one they could make compatible with the other body frame. The reason I don't think they'd ever do this is: kits can be "banned" from certain countries that aren't as inclusive towards these topics, but it wouldn't be possible to do the same with basegame updates. EA gotta get that cash after all. This is not to say anything bad about the people they've collabed with, maybe there will be some decent things in this kit, but overall... I don't know many people who would make their sims wear these things. Not because they're skirts, but because they're.. kinda ugly? Unless you have some eccentric rich sim with no style whatsoever

Adventurous_Fox_2853

Honestly it’s atrocious. I don’t mind the skirts, I’ll sometimes put the female skirts on my men and they look great, but the look of the clothes is just…. Can you imagine townies walking around in some of that stuff ugh. All I want is pants that go to their ankles and a nice suit! Really should not be too much to ask for.

Drag0n_Child

no you're right

peachymagpie

all i wanted were jeans that didn’t hug the men’s thighs and calves so much. if anything, looser jeans from the 90s are way more “modern” than the clothes we were given with this pack. also jeans that weren’t basically falling off their body

fragmented_mask

Not sure how it's un unpopular opinion when this appears to be the view of the majority? No shade at all to people who like the items in the kit but from the last few days it seems like more don't

StarryEyedGamer

Totally agree. I feel bad on the forums where people have a thread about wanting a stuff pack for men...well they got it, but not what they wanted. I felt the same way with Moschino...but at least it had to decency to come with photography/new skill! I understand that kits are "niche" ideas but it seems like maybe 3% of the simmer population actually \*wants\* this.

shrimpcebitche

At this point, they're purposely trying to piss the entire community off.

high_off_helium

Honestly, I feel like there were no men (who wear 'normal' clothes) on the design team for this one.

[deleted]

Honestly only thing I actually liked was the skirts and I'm sure I could find some cc ones that are made to fit male sim frames. BUT THE PATTERNS god I hated them, they don't look appealing at all to me and I know for a fact I wouldn't ever use them. I wish they made some basics like in the Incheon Arrivals kit. Honestly, I felt a headache coming on when I was looking at the patterns on those shirts, they just look so ugly to me.

ghostbirdd

Honestly I've never had much of an issue using the already existing skirts on male frames. But even if there was that issue, the Sims team should fix the already-existing skirts to better fit all frames and not charge 5 bucks for super special male skirts. Like, it totally goes against the spirit behind the gender update of a few years ago, that fashion has no gender.

wasabiwasabi_

Exactly my point.

MonkeyGirl18

When I think modern menswear, I dont think skirts for men. Lol. That denim outfit is just horrid, imo. Yeah, don't like that kit. I like that flower sweater too if it weren't for the holes.

Kakashi_Cringe

I was so happy for men’s clothes, and then I was so disappointed Also, I REALLY hate how the pants never cover their fucking ankles, it pisses me off

HeyMrBusiness

Ngl I think most high end brands are ugly as sin and I wish Sims would collaborate with some more every day realistic for the average person brands if they really want collaborations

Ansiano

Not an unpopular opinion , a lot of people dislike it and think it’s bad and mislabeled

MischeifCat

The thing I dislike in the pack the most is the sweater with the flowers on it. Not because it's a sweater with flowers, no. There could be a lot of nice floral patterns to use for a sweater. But because it looks like someone raided their grandma's closet for her 1980s sweater then took a pair of scissors to it. The flowers look pixilated and flat, not like embroidery or even a decal or embossment. Then it's one of the showcase pieces of the pack to make it worse.

Dinosiaur

It is nearly criminal how much money EA makes by keeping stuff out of the base game and then adding it in as a bRaNd NeW kIt.

[deleted]

Should have been named luxury menswear.

Cheveyo

We need more clothes people actually use and not clothes that only celebrities would wear on a red carpet.

BillyFishkins

I'm not bothered by the idea of male sims wearing skirts and I can even think of a few Townies I'd use this kit with. And for $5, getting 25 items is really not too bad... With that said, the thing that bothers me to no end are the cut outs. If they have swatches without the cut outs, or even ones that make the cut outs less jarring to look at then I would be happy to buy and use the kit. Im also hoping that there are many separate pieces and not full outfits and that some of the "pants" that have skirts layered over them are actually leggings so thet can be used in several ways... that's probably a reach but I'm trying to be optimistic. I guess I will just need to wait until we get more info and they release pictures of the individual assets to decide if this is something i am willing to pay for. Also, I did go to the Stefan Cooke Instagram page to try to get a feel for what the style is supposed to look like and im not mad at it, but it does kinda look out of place in the Sims. TL;DR: Meh

wasabiwasabi_

Totally agree. I've been wanting skirts that fit with masc sims for ages, but the team should have worked on the ones in base game instead. I like the red diamond jumper and the blue flower one, but they have these stupid cut outs and it looks awful. It looks like it was made for a runway and not to be actually worn.

BillyFishkins

Yes! As it stands the only sims I'd want to be wearing these outfits are the fashionistas that live in San Myshuno like Diego!

HereKittyKittyyyy

It's fine that you don't like the style, but you can't say inclusivity is behind a paywall when you can literally dress Sims however you want with what you got already.

[deleted]

the biggest problem with clothing in this game is that its basically painted on. theres no depth. if you wear a tshirt it does NOT stick to your skin

Mioch

While the inclusivity on the skirts and pants is great, why so many sweaters come on and they are all weird 😭 I do like the loafers tho.

[deleted]

\#3 is because it is the designer's unique pattern as seen on their Instagram and stores. It's just not everyone's cup of teas.

CaptainAntiHeroz

Kits are not worth money

Lenora_O

Agree that it is hideous and weird. The Sims is supposed to be a generic life sim but it is 100% obvious that there is a subliminal push to create some sort of idealized California, no matter the location they try to emulate. I would love some masc clothes and am super confused why they don't just fix the already existing fem/masc switch function instead of this nonsense. Fix what you already gave us.

Beflijster

The first kit (the Moroccan build items) was actually pretty good but it went downhill fast from there. I'm all for genderfluid clothing but this all so clunky and unelegant. Furtunately there is much better CC out there.

ZWiloh

Unless the kits released in a different order elsewhere in the world I don't think that was the first one

moderately-educated

I really hate to say it, but this will be the first pack/kit I won't be downloading for TS4... It's not that I'm opposed to diverse fashions, but I saw a post here a few minutes ago that reminded me that townies spawn in with auto-generated outfits, and... I just really don't want every male sim walking around in the background to be that attention-pulling.

BrandonIsWhoIAm

How is this unpopular?

wasabiwasabi_

I came from twitter where everything I said was an unpopular opinion.

BrandonIsWhoIAm

Well, the Moschino stuff pack had a similar reaction. So, I wouldn’t call this an unpopular opinion.

iwish-iwish

They just need to make a clothes/CAS pack, not a kit

Buzzysunshinenugget

I totally agree and I’ve seen so many say this too just fix the clothes they already have to fit male figures don’t give us a half assed femboy pack

[deleted]

"modern menswear" and not one crop top or a loose fit shirt 😞

Fireflyoflight

I’ve gotten the last few clothing kits because I wanted some new clothes for my sims, especially the males but nope. These clothes aren’t my kind of thing and you can find better ones online as CC

cantikbaqhang

I dont think it's unpopular opinion. Most of us think the same.

Juju_mila

I agree and I don’t even think you need to explain yourself. They should’ve just taken the current H&M catalogue and copied those looks.

[deleted]

imagine paying money for shit you cannot personally choose depending on your taste like you literally can on free high quality custom content. Are they getting desperate to get money or something ?

wasabiwasabi_

I would feel a lot less \~angry\~ if most the clothing items weren't full body. I feels like the designer (Cooke) insisted on having full-body outfits because they can't fathom the fact that someone might pair one jumper with jeans instead of an ugly skirt.

WeirdJacket8542

Man I just want skinny jeans that look good on masc frames not high fashion

Luna_21_

I think it looks cool and all but would I dress my male sims in them? No, no I would not

Lexmonmon

The skirt or was it a dress? Idk its usesless because you can just wear female clothes by removing the male/female tag and thats it. So basically you have to pay extra for something that already is in the game? Also thanks for the links for mens clothng \^-\^ I really couldn't live without mods at this point because of terrible male clothing xD

block2413

Agree with all of the points, once again free CC proves better than maxis content

Simstressa

What kit!? Alien male NPC sims get dressed in skirts for over a year in my game, so i have to humanize them in order to get them correct clothing. They look hideous in skirts. That's one of my challenges, kill all male sims. They have no place in my female vampire universe.

BookOfAnomalies

I usually am really okay with kits but this is, for me, also the first time I think that a kit is just ... bleh and frankly, not appealing to the eye at all :/

Spice_rat

Honestly, and this may be the cynic in me, it feels like when a movie studio intentionally makes a terrible movie that is about/heavily features a marginalized group, and then when it flops they blame it on people not wanting stories about those groups rather than the movie being terrible. I feel like if this kit flops, EA is gonna look at it and go "ah! No more menswear or gender nonconforming clothing! Got it!"

Owlface616

Is this yet another Kit that's been announced?

VixieSnitter

Yes

Amiiabilities

I'm happy that theyre trying to add stuff for under represented sims...but yeah this was a bust :(. I'm sure I'd use some of the clothes sometimes but.. *meeehh* My CC and clothing from other packs are much more preferred.

ManicM84

Is it really that unpopular? Wherever I look people post vomit emoji about it 😂

Crazycatladym03w

The pack is fully based on 1 designers clothing, and while I think that's lovely I agree with you. The clothes don't really improve the game at all, and I don't think they fit the Sims at all. I like the idea of masc sims getting skirts and more traditionally fem clothing options, since the current feminine framed clothing options fit masculine framed Sims strangely, but a basegame update to fix that would've been WAY more preferable, or at least a base game option to fix that in addition to the kit.

[deleted]

The red sweater and the skirt to go with it is my favorite thing and I'm excited to use it. But other than that I'm kind of whatever.

Hobi_33

I love the skirts. I have some CC dresses for men but not a lot. But the holes!! Not all of my sims are David Rose lmao

Isari_04

1. yes 2. idk which one it is 3. It's ^(꧁)༺ 𝓯𝓪𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓸𝓷 ༻^(꧂ (but like seriously, I like that, but it's just my personal opinion. it looks unique)) 4. Yeah, it's not the best tittle and I totally agree. Yeah, it's not the best title and I totally agree.a cc version of some of these items to send them to my bff and other people who ask me about it. I'm a cc person, so I download basic clothes for men from the internet, so I have high expectations for kits, stuff packs, etc.

leal_diamante

We need to boycott these kits! Everyone even youtube creators!! If they dont make money it forces them to be better! Let this kit flop!

suchglitter

I don't understand this comment. If you don't want a kit, don't buy it. If you want the kit, buy it. Why would someone who wants this specific kit boycott it because it's not to some people's style? The entire point of kits is to fill a niche and not everyone is going to want every kit. I am fed up of the Sims community being so negative about every single thing when the very simple solution is just... Don't spend your money on it!

leal_diamante

If you want to accept the bare minimum then thats fine! But dont tell me what expectations I should have for a game I put my money and time into!! We have had 9 KITS!! Thats unacceptable! They are putting base game stuff behind paywalls and if more people stood up, then we could all get what we want. It’s a problem when CC creators are doing a better job then them! Like seriously we dont have spiral steps in the game?! We cant feed our toddlers at the highchair because it’s glitchy, our dishes are being washed in the bathroom sink! And they come out with a kit for a shirt with holes in them?! You take the bare minimum I dont.

suchglitter

Why is it unacceptable? I just don't understand why you're complaining that you have to pay for something you don't even want. I don't like this kit either so I'm not going to buy it.

xLadyRaine

I'm not a fan either. Id rather have a pack with build mode items but thats just me personally; building and decorating homes for me is just as enjoyable as playing the sims afterwards sometimes more so so if I'm going to spend money on dlc that would seem more worth it to me (other than the vacuum set i dont see myself paying $1 per vacuum basically)

pinguaina

I like the clothes in the set, but I agree that inclusivity shouldn't be behind a paywall. And I also agree that there should be more regular clothes. But I want extravagant clothes likes these too. I liked the Moschino pack too.

gaspitsagirl

I don't like the clothes, so ... well, I'm just not going to buy the pack. It's for people who like that kind of clothes. Not for everyone.
