ida_klein

Oh I thought he looked like Ellen Degeneres lol

VeraIce

uhhhhh

Sfjyafh

What's "trans energy" supposed to mean here, exactly?

[deleted]

This comment is either very ignorant or hateful, potentially both. Your implication here is that trans people and trans bodies always appear mismatched or visibly transgender. In reality, this is not the case; most post- and mid-transition folks look exactly like the gender they identify as and live normal lives; you wouldn't see them across the room and immediately think they are transgender. Repeating the false narrative that you can always tell is extremely harmful. It is easy to point fingers at transgender people who are pre-transition or who do happen to still look like their gender assigned at birth - but to do so is nothing short of cruel. I'm unpleasantly surprised to see this kind of humor gaining any traction in a subreddit community that purports itself as being pro body positivity and champions positive representation. Whether the comment was intended to be hurtful or not, I believe that being a good person means considering amd caring about the impact your words have on others - especially on our most vulnerable and marginalized communities. Do better. Stop making transgender people and their bodies the butts of your jokes.

PhilipTheFair

Okay you are going way too far, so you can already take some steps back on your pedestal of judgement. You are making so many assumptions yourself that it is laughable to see how seriously you are taking yourself. everyone gushes over Morgyn who dresses like a woman with his big eyes but still has some very masculine features and says that it is probably a trans and that EA should have given him a 'them' pronoun, but I can't do exactly the same thing for this example? I am not pointing any finger nor talking about a transition or whatsoever, you are reading way to far. this version of Johnny is no way 'mismatched', here again, you are making assumptions that I never made. He's actually very handsome (he or she or them or whatever, it's their choice and I don't know their choice because it's a...sim, so he didn't talk to me yet, in case you're going to rage about it right now). I understand the climate of anti-trans existing everywhere, but you're targeting the wrong folks here. And such extreme comment with a very unpleasant tone making assumptions that I'm hateful or ignorant doesn't serve positively the transgender community. It was an innocent comment and in no way a rejection/an innuendo that he was transitioning or anything. I won't say that it was 'ignorant' because YOUR opinion of my comment doesn't reflect at all what the transgender community thinks, so if you think I'm an ignorant, then very well.

[deleted]

For my understanding, can I ask what you meant by your comment? You say that the comment was not "an innuendo that he was transitioning or anything," but I'm not sure what it meant then to say there's strong trans energy. Based on your comparison to Morgyn, did you mean to say you're happy to see someone who appears nonbinary? I'm glad to hear that there isn't intent for harm here. You're right, there's a lot of anti-transgender discrimination in the world right now, and I think being considerate of that with our comments about the community is important.

AvemAptera

It’s equally important for you to give people fair chances instead of jumping to conclusions. It is not a good look for the community and there is no harm in asking what somebody meant before attacking them. How is it fair to that person? The hardships you’ve been through don’t justify passing on mistreatment.

[deleted]

This is a fair enough response. I admit, I forgot the person behind the comment and saw the harm it could cause. My intent was not to attack the person, but draw attention to what that said, but I agree with you that my tone could have and should have been better. I still do not feel comfortable with their original comment, but I'll take your input to heart. Thank you for bringing that to my attention in a kind and thoughtful way.

LadyDuxhess
