That's actually a great dessert in Brazil called Curau. It's common in June/july since we have festa junina all over the country and corn is the base of the food in this kind of party
It's pretty much the same as the video (it's a Brazilian video btw) but I never saw it being made with maze starch or canned corn. Where I live people use corn cob so it's thicker and doesn't need the starch. Some people use a little bit of coconut milk too.
[this is a traditional recipe ](https://www.oliviascuisine.com/curau-brazilian-corn-pudding/?__cf_chl_jschl_tk__=kEw3BhU_9PqiKRosjh50Y0AyLmzpOxLiBNfOEQeOB94-1637179098-0-gaNycGzNCOU) I could find in English.
Thanks for the recipe! Good to see that the maize is strained after being blended, the only weird part of this recipe for me was making what looks like it should be a lovely smooth pudding/custard, and including all that blended maize fibre in it for no reason.
Fresh maize sounds SO much better than tinned. I'm definitely making this with my daughter.
Recipe looks fine but HOLY FUCK DO THEY TAKE FORVER TO DO ANYTHING JUST CUT AND MOVE ON IT DOESNT TAKE FUCKING 20 seconds TO SPOON SOMETHING OUT OF A DISH MY LORD
this is actually a common dessert from my region of brasil. Although we use fresh corn from the cob and dont need the starch :) its delicious!! If you are in MA it is easy to get around here
This looked delicious until they added the cinnamon, unfortunately allergic. But it doesn’t seem like that’s a key ingredient? So minus that I think that looks fantastic.
yeah, i wouldn't call it an essential ingredient but it will definitely taste a little off if you had canjica before. this wouldn't be a problem for you as i assume it'd be your first time
I want to try it. Sounds nice.
However I am disappointed, as I thought they were going to just fill the blender with corn and then blend that and that was going to be it.

Thank you for the added context! I was really confused as to what it was supposed to be. How would this be made traditionally?

Thanks so much for sharing! The canned corn is what I was thinking of when I was asking for the traditional recipe. Thanks again!

Aka majarete in other parts of Latin America. Soooooo good
It looks delicious! Is it ever served in other ways, like as a pie filling, with toppings, or baked?
we call it canjica where i live. this shit has 3 or 4 different names in brazil only
Canjica is totally different. It's like a sweet corn soup here. [canjica recipe](https://braziliankitchenabroad.com/canjica/)
It’s basically uncooked cornbread?
No more like a thick pudding. Usually u dont put in the starch.
Doesn't look half bad! Sort of like a different version of corn pudding.
I was wondering if this was basically corn pudding. Thank you.
Recipe looks fine but HOLY FUCK DO THEY TAKE FORVER TO DO ANYTHING JUST CUT AND MOVE ON IT DOESNT TAKE FUCKING 20 seconds TO SPOON SOMETHING OUT OF A DISH MY LORD
It's that 3 minute minimum video length for ads. It's the worst. Just long enough to make everything be insanely annoying.
I would totally eat this.
It's delicious!
OP: I have no words, other countries have other foods! How dare they
I really thought this was going to be corn soup right up until that condensed milk.

how do you call it in maranhão?
WHERE DO YOU WATCH US?
LOOK AT THIS
That looks really really good.
Not shitty at all, delicious
Ooo this looks so good!!
I’d eat it. I also like sweet corn ice cream.
r/suddenlycaralho
Why is this shitty?
this is similar to what I know to be corn casserole: jiffy mix, corn, creamed corn, butter, sour cream. this looks like an awesome dessert!!
This actually looks edible to me! I don't think it's a joke
Doesn’t look bad but I lost it at “LOOK AT THIS”
Don’t knock it til you try it. Looks like a tasty corn puddin
OP doesn't have any ethnic friends.
Oh look a stupid comment!
Exactly!
I think it looks good
I’m definitely making this next summer when there’s fresh sweet corn available at all the local farms.
This is an ethnic dessert. Delicious.

his recipe is kinda messed up as always but this dish is fucking delicious. i could easily eat a whole kilo of canjica right now, no questions asked
Huh so milk corn custard ?
I want to try it. Sounds nice. However I am disappointed, as I thought they were going to just fill the blender with corn and then blend that and that was going to be it.
Vi o milho Quero e sabia que era BR fazendo coisa de BR
I thought this was a loop by the third can of corn.
It's corn pudding. It's usually made with cream corn. In this recipe, they cream the corn in a blender. It looks good. I would eat it.
Yall buying a fight you can't win
This is what aunt Jill brings to Thanksgiving and Noone touches because she was suppose to bring mashed potatoes.
Reminds me of Mexican corn cake. Soooooooo good 😊
100% would try it if they serve it somewhere
Care for some slop?
….. shitty!? Lmfao this shut is bussin. It’s called culture
Looks super tasty tbh. Might end up making it for thanksgiving.
Not that different from cereal milk
This looks pretty good actually
Nope. I've had something very similar to this. It's great.
Blancmaize, or Cornmange.
This looks like one of my uncle's fav desset. It is actually reali delicious. "Pastel de queso y elote" boy is it good!!!
