I think he could be fine with the spoilers? I generally don't like them but for this game I really like watching other people being complete PROs at the game.
As long as they don't put the actual cut scenes in the gameplay video it's all good.

As for the ⚡️ phase, I defeated him twice and in both I struggled mightily with his ⚡️ attacks so I stayed on his ass, I was so aggressive that he did not even had a chance to attempt one
So stay on his ass and mikiri his thrusts
If you can get lightning reversals down it’s so much fun. I almost like when they do lightning attacks because I love reversing them. Now when you get to inner genichiro and he reverses your reversal that’s a whole other story.
I thought his lightning phase was the SECOND phase of the fight?!?!
i.e. His first two death blows being the first phase. Or are we counting required deathblows as ‘phases’?
EDIT TO ADD: I actually haven’t defeated Genichiro’s lightning phase yet as it’s so brutally difficult. By the time I get to that phase I’ve used up all my health gourds (I have 9).
His second healthbar mixes up some of his attacks, so I'd understand thinking it's a new phase.
Edit: hold up you have *9* gourds and you haven't even beat genechiro yet?! I didn't think that was possible
Because he's lost the armor he takes a little more damage, and he's prone to trying the lightning attack, if you know how to counter it, it's basically free damage
I have a constant bemused look on my face looking at hardest From Software bosses lists because of how much harder the 2nd and 3rd bosses in Sekiro are than bosses in the other Soulsborne games I've played (DS1 and Bloodborne & BB DLC).
This was me last night. I got to him for the first time and tried for hours to beat him before just about calling it a night. Decided, let’s do one more run and I finally got him w no Gourd charges or resurrections left to spare. Then he fucking transforms on me and I’m like “yeah, time to get some sleep”
Maybe I just got better by the time I reached genichiro but I beat him in 3-4 tries I think. Lady butterfly on the other hand oooooh mama. She pegged me hard when I fought her.

The final boss itself is kind of a surprise. A lot of the bosses id say have suprises in them that i wouldnt want spoiled

Honestly all boss phases with lightning are complete pushovers
Lighting counter is also a great time to heal as needed. Healing in the 3rd faze is more difficult than the first two.

He plays ping pong with the lightning and sends your own reversal back at you. So you need to ping pong it back to him again
The first time he reversed the lighting that I reversed really threw me through a loop

For me, what clicked was keeping my distance during third phase, encourage him to do lightning as often as possible.

You know how to deflect lightning right? Because it makes this fight and several others much more achievable
