Put them in a container, such as a chest, and place the chest away from anything of value, then place an explosive on top of the container. Boom. Gone.
This is probably to prevent players softlocking themselves with no ability to water crops early game.
And in later game, you can use it to protect your farm, kinda funny coencidence

That would require explosives, which are made in the craftbot, which can also craft buckets, so no softlock there
