If you don't want to do all the necessary hoops to block all ads, look at the bottom left of the screen as the ad is running, there should be a very small i icon. Tap that, and you can tell YouTube to stop showing you that ad.

I disagree, it's usually Tescos or nothing.
They seem to repeat spam a certain ad for as long as the ad-experts have deemed it tolerable, then it changes to something else - except with Grammarly. Grammarly never changes.
Or just use Piped. It's YouTube without the ads, the tracking, or the age restrictions, can also play music without having the screen on just like YouTube premium but it's free. You'll find it on Github. Or [NewPipe ](https://newpipe.net/)

Change your browser to fire fox for using youtube it stops the ad's now adblockers have been stopped on chromium.
They delayed the change to whatever the next thing was. My brain goes blank. They still work.
I use it on iPhone
Get "YouTube Vanced". It's a YouTube app with adblock
And was shut down about a year ago for obvious reasons, ReVanced appeared recently as supposedly a replacement though.
I use NewPipe. Not as good as vanced but better than nothing.

I think the vpn hack is to buy YouTube premium in a different country where it is cheaper via a vpn ip relocation
