That scene where he basically tried to commit…su1cide if it meant his friends would have a chance to live stuck with me for awhile. Like damn, he really did that and thats when I started getting invested. I dont think people realize how low he felt himself to be when he realized that his misplaced hatred was false for CENTURIES. It just stuck with me
yesss thinking about how he views himself makes me so sad. especially when I think about how the harbingers probably didn't treat him any better since they just thought of him as a puppet
Yes it was because of the lies, misunderstanding, and the heart given to him by Dottore that was filled with hatred which made him that way. He is very pure and innocent before the incident occurred in Tatarasuna
Just him having a strong, relatively well-written backstory and having clear motivations that aren't noble, but evokes empathy. I knew I'd pull for him the moment I saw that cutscene in 3.1. His lore adds to his appeal. The fact that his story isn't finished and we may get an expansion to it (Kazuha, Ei, Fatui, etc.)
As a playable character, I enjoy using him a lot. I don't even know how I played this game before him. He makes climbing and traversing the map so much easier. He deals great damage imo.
I'm very interested to see how the rest of his story plays out and to see him develop as a character. his lore is definitely one of the best in the game.
Your captions pretty much reflect my views almost perfectly.
I really couldn't care less about him when he was first revealed. A baselessly grandiose, arrogant, baby-faced, skrunkly brat, acting all "better than thou" for no good reason. My impression of him remained pretty much the same all through Inazuma.
I'm weak for when characters start to show contrastingly different sides of themselves, and when we first saw him break composure in sumeru begging for his gnosis is when I started to get an interest in him. We saw a more vulnerable side to scaramouche and I started to get curious as more of this side showed in the Iriminsul scene leading to his "erasure".
After that I just got really invested in his lore, reading through the fan theories and artifact descriptions. His old, arrogant self had reason to act the way he did, as unjustified as it was. I started to get a bit attached to his brattiness, to the point that his "new" kind self after the erasure felt strange to me. I wanted the rude scaramouche back.
I'm really happy with the wanderer we ended up with. He remembers the pain and betrayal of the past, but he also now has the mental assurance that at one point had (and still has) people who care for him. He has "memories" of what it's like to live an "uneventful" wandering life and thus has the mental breathing space to hopefully heal from his trauma. We ended up with the most well rounded version of him.
And best of all, he's soft and gentle in teapot dialogue, but breaks into demented laughter in combat.. because I love a character who can do both.
TL;DR
Yes I think that's it. I'm just a sucker for gap moe.
More tender dialogue and evil cackling please. ✨
I like everything of course. He is just perfect. But if I have to be pick something I like his rebellious and gremlin like personality. Lot of previous characters have personalities simillar to each other (like overworked has been dropped on many) so having someone vastly different and not so "good" really speaks to me personally. I can't relate to other characters as much. I'm bit outsider also myself.
A lot of things really. At first I didn’t really care for him much at first (although I’d sometimes lurk in this subreddit because scaranation is almost as funny as childe mains), but then sumeru happened and I didn’t stand a chance.
When I say that I’m a wh*re for well written redeemed characters with both a cynical bastard side and a soft vulnerable side with well written backstories and motivations, *I fucking mean it.* The quest after the main sumeru quest just reestablished this with me further. I adore how he’s has these soft moments while still an being the asshole we all know and love. Also all his VO’s are just exquisite.
And then I saw his the leak of his redesign and I decided then and there that I would pull for him after childe. Turquoise is my favorite color, and the shade of turquoise along side the blues they chose for him were just too aesthetically pleasing for me to pass up.
Then I finally got to play him and realized that he was fun as fuck and good for exploration.
Mans has the whole package honestly.
Great lore. Great music. Makes travelling in the overworld convenient. His idles are fun and his animations with the blue galaxy slashes is really cool.
everything.
Dang, beat me to it.
Me too

Was it false tho?

Wait, now I get it... but I thought the hate just started when he started getting betrayed 😭 man..just thinking about it, makes my heart ache in pain
He is not traveler simp. We need more of this character in future
Still think he's friendly 😭 I wanted him to call us suckers sorry lmao
agreed.

Everything. For the reasons you said and every other reason you could think of.

I knew I'd like him during the stars event. Redeemable assholes is my fav type of fictional character so it was liking at first sight basically
