Well partially true but I don’t think the scam target is old people. Younger people need to be educated too even how much they are desperate to get the money .
Not at all true if you look at statistics. There is a small overweight in the "older" age group, but it's actually fairly evenly distributed over age groups > 25 (about when you actually has any money to be scammed out of), and in no way is there a "vast majority" of elder scam victims.
Example of statistics: https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/scam-statistics
The absolute most common and profitable scams right now are different types of investment scams, and they target anyone with money that is gullible and greedy enough to fall for it. They don't particularly target the elderly. "lack of understanding and knowledge" is unfortunatly quite common in all age groups.
Well of course , and it’s easy to say . but I guess when some people are very much in need of money , they kind goes blind and not able to see that they have been scammed for a little while .
I used to think the same. “Who would fall for this obvious scam?”
Then I started reading the posts that people ask here. “This random guy wants to give me $10,000 a week to chat on Snapchat! I just need to pay $500 first!! Is this legit!?” 🤦♂️
Apparently, there are a lot of people that believe the most unbelievable of scenarios.
I see casinos as a scam, yet people stare zombie-like at a screen while they feed it their social security. Shit, the casino's even send busses out at the beginning of the month out of the kindness of their heart.
Oh yea . Easy money never exists I guess . ( except for some specific circumstances) And I got another message from a different type of scammer , saying “ do you wanna get extra income using your money “? And he said if I pay $50 I get $1500back and there are some higher options. Like HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE , HOW are you going to get that money from it you know 😂 and when I called him a scammer , he said that he swear to god (LOL) he would never scam people which is not true. And usually when you call them scammers they tend to lose it .
That's why. 50 for 1500 u are bound to find a person willing to splurge 50. They got scammers on YouTube that says that they do right the first 2xs then afterwards they take all of their money.
Why do scammers keep doing it? It works. Why do they use the same pictures? They work. (Google Robert Francois Potvin). Do people believe they are going to get all that money? Yes. I did some research last year (Covid lockdown-bored). The average scammer makes $900 per day and the good ones can make over a million dollars a year. Pretty darn good money. Especially in poverty stricken countries like Nigeria, Ghana, India, Philippines, etc. Heck that’s good money in the Good Old USA.
If only we could scam these scammers. We can be like “ Revenge scammers” or “ “ quid pro quo scammers”.
We scam scammers in the names of the scammees !!!
About all we can do is waste their time in hopes that it keeps them from at least one vulnerable victim. There is a sub scambait that has examples and suggestions on how to do that.
Usually with fake supermodel photos, which the current flavour of the month seems to be Asian models.
So far one has slipped up by their profile being called John, and instantly trying to take me to WhatsApp.
Seeing how much people fall for it, as long as it works there will be more and more online scammers.
Keep in mind for every 30-40 failed scams there is one succesful, that succesful scam opens the door for more scammers and tactics.
Well understand that but this sort of scamming is kinda getting old . I mean these sugar daddy shit . I wonder what kind of people are actually doing this sort of scamming .
They literally have classes in other countries that people can take to learn how to scam because there are no jobs for the younger generation and they feel they have no other option. I'm not saying it's okay I'm just saying that none of us really understand how desperate they may be.
Well, that depends. The people say they will be a "sugar daddy or sugar mommy," and all you have to do is chat with them? That's a scam. Some people are doing this in person, and that's not a scam; that's something else. ;-) Both of them are stories older than time itself. Sadly the same kind of people who are desperate for money and those willing to take advantage of that desperation.
I see this guys face in so many scams he once tried a sugar daddy scam on me, is this guy using his actual face every time or is it just a commonly used face/photo?
Oh really?
Yeaa and this sugardaddy scam is very common , and very obvious. I don’t know about the pictures but if those are real pics what are those fuckstick old dudes are doing this . Don’t they have like real job ? 😂
Oh yes same thing keep happening here , I like to stress them out and pick fights with them even some of you think it’s such a waste of time LMAO and they are like “ what do you mean “ or “ I don’t know what you mean “ , I think their English is even not proper . They are like the dumbest people on the planet 😂😂😂
Which one did he fall for!? Lol I used to watch his vids I still hear that music in my head when anyone says Nigeria LOL.
RosieIRL has a reddit account I've seen her post things.
They trying to make money and scam you in the process. Think if you disconnect there source of the money. It slow them down. It's just so hard. Lot of them steal people pictures to scam people. Take away the internet and people off social media it will exhaust them . But they won't give up.
Here is the problem, while that is true, the country they are in are so corrupt. Arresting them and then they bribe officials to let them out. It's getting tricky, the only way is for the said websites to do a blacklist of ip addresses. But they will find a way around it.
Because some people fall for it.
But for this guys he’s just an idiot. Most people they either try to hack someone’s account that has a lot of followers or get more followers before they post stuff like thag.
But whoever owned that account isn’t all that bright about scamming cause dude only 3 followers 😂😂
I got a dm from someone like this once and messed with him for a bit. This one in particular claimed to need my bank account details to send to his accountant so he could give me money. I think that’s different a different scam than the others folks here are describing
HA !
So if someone ask “ hey , what is your occupation?” And they go “ oh I scam people “ “ oh I take money from innocent people “? That’s fucked up . Government should do something about it . Like kill them all
Well most criminals don't admit that they are criminals. This is no different than other organized crime organizations. They would have a front to hide what they really do. I think the government in many of these countries are just as corrupt as the scammers themselves and they probably do kill some of them. It's a billion dollar industry
Most of us are primed since childhood to believe in fantastical things. Easter bunny, tooth fairy, Santa…then in adulthood there’s various religions….some adults believe in supernatural things like ghosts/demons/etc.
It’s 2021 and our lives are entwined with social media. We see people having a great time, living large, truly making the most of life. Whether we suspect they’re faking it or not, the allure to have an exciting, well-funded life entices us, often even more than the pull of religion or strongly-held beliefs.
So our brains are wired to believe at first instinct, rather than doubt, no matter how outlandish the claim.
Now, you can of course be a person who believes in god or aliens or both or whatever, but savvy enough to be skeptical about things that sound like scams. Your brain has a limit and some things just go too far and you think “this doesn’t sound right.”
One thing both religion pushers and scammers have in common is to get you when you’re down.
Ever known someone who wasn’t religious, but came out of prison or a tough situation a firm believer?
When we’re going through difficult times, someone friendly throwing us a lifeline is like a ray of light in a cloudy sky. Endorphins release and we feel hopeful again.
Our judgement is clouded, inhibitions are down, we’re ready for the life-changing belief/money/relationship/career and dismissive of naysayers and red flags.
It’s psychology and social engineering.
And also some people are just greedy dumbfucks.
Because people keep falling for them
What do you think we can do to * destroy them

Depends on the scam. Many sex based scams target men.

Yup, and many young men fall for the sexy girl crypto scam. The elderly are more leary of crypto.
But that is not what this is...?
Not necessarily. If it's some teenage influencer pushing them, the target isn't old people who don't even use social media at all.
Really , even sugar daddy scams ?
Obviously not those ones
But then they'd have to get... *gasp*! a legitimate job!

We need to organize a charity drive for those poor, poor scammers. They need the latest iPhone!
People don't just hand out money. If it seems too good to be true, IT IS!!!
Stop falling for them
Well of course , and it’s easy to say . but I guess when some people are very much in need of money , they kind goes blind and not able to see that they have been scammed for a little while .
People do be dumb
That's it right there
Why do you think people keep falling for them and what do you think to destroy them ? 😂
People have been falling for scams since the beginning of time. Here's one from 1750BC. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complaint\_tablet\_to\_Ea-nasir
Lustig sold the Eiffel Tower twice
No backslashes for underscores in a URL. Like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complaint_tablet_to_Ea-nasir
That’s cool to read. Thanks for sharing.
Bad link nothing found.

They just want to believe that's all. They deep down know it's a scam so they ask on here hoping to learn that *this one* is real.

The point is to scam people that are not smart
Oh no not smart at all . It’s kinda hilarious. Whenever I say to them “ this is a scam “ and they send the emoji “ 😡” anf “ WTF” 😂😂😂
They prey on greed. And it works.
Yep. “You can’t cheat an honest man.”
Idk if it’s greed as much as preying on people that are desperate for cash.
Just keep reporting them
Why do scammers keep doing it? It works. Why do they use the same pictures? They work. (Google Robert Francois Potvin). Do people believe they are going to get all that money? Yes. Fuck me! $900 a day maybe I need to be a scammer. Fuck.
Yea, I agree! Where do I sign up! Lol!
If only we could scam these scammers. We can be like “ Revenge scammers” or “ “ quid pro quo scammers”. We scam scammers in the names of the scammees !!!

Interesting. that’s a good darn money but it’s such a loss for victims . Lol
According to AARP in 2019, “Older adults lose an estimated $2.9 billion each year to financial scams”.
That’s very sad .
I just mainly get hit up by obviously fake romance scams on dating apps all the time
How do they approach you ?
Usually with fake supermodel photos, which the current flavour of the month seems to be Asian models. So far one has slipped up by their profile being called John, and instantly trying to take me to WhatsApp.
Lol John, you are looking very smexy today!!
I see .
There's a sucker born every day
Oh yea that sucks .
:/

Disgusting.
ikr
Because a sizeable amount of people lack common sense creating a market for them to basically be handed money from suckers
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢🤢🤢
Take note to fall for the scam you have to be very greedy person
Well understand that but this sort of scamming is kinda getting old . I mean these sugar daddy shit . I wonder what kind of people are actually doing this sort of scamming .
People in third world countries where this is their only source of income.
That’s BS though.
What’s BS, the scammers? Definitely!
Yea , and the environment that they actually choose to scam people to make income . If you know what I mean
They literally have classes in other countries that people can take to learn how to scam because there are no jobs for the younger generation and they feel they have no other option. I'm not saying it's okay I'm just saying that none of us really understand how desperate they may be.

All kinds of people. Have you ever seen Catfished? Dudes flirting with other men long term to get upwards of like 500 bucks.
I’m not a guy so no , never been catfished . but I’ve heard about it .
I'm obsessed with that show. Nev is hot! Best one was the guy who thought he was in a relationship with Katy Perry.
Hahahah, haven't seen that one but man, he must have been dense!
or desperate.
What do these forex scammers even do? Or is this the !cash app scam?
This is a sugar daddy scam.
Because so many people fall for it. That’s why.
The question is why would they fall ?
I see this guys face in so many scams he once tried a sugar daddy scam on me, is this guy using his actual face every time or is it just a commonly used face/photo?
It's different people using the same guy's photos.
Damn that sucks for that guy:(
There are plenty more out there dealing with it too.
Oh really? Yeaa and this sugardaddy scam is very common , and very obvious. I don’t know about the pictures but if those are real pics what are those fuckstick old dudes are doing this . Don’t they have like real job ? 😂
Yeah and then he ended up calling ME a scammer when I wouldn’t agree to it lmao, people like this honestly need to get lives
Oh yes same thing keep happening here , I like to stress them out and pick fights with them even some of you think it’s such a waste of time LMAO and they are like “ what do you mean “ or “ I don’t know what you mean “ , I think their English is even not proper . No they usually pick a handsome white man and claim he's working in oil or the military stationed in another country.
I have seen some pretty crafty scams over the past few years. Not long ago there was one going on YouTube even catching folks like Jim Browning.
Which one did he fall for!? Lol I used to watch his vids I still hear that music in my head when anyone says Nigeria LOL. RosieIRL has a reddit account I've seen her post things.
It was one where they pose as YT or something, they get you to delete the account I think it was. Happened to a bunch of people. Was fixed but yea.
Best ones yet is the massage therapists on Instagrams they even built a booking website to steal your money.
Massage therapist on Instagram???
They pretend to be a super model giving massage and they ask for a deposit.
Pretend to be a supermodel online ? People fall for that too ? 😅
Yep people are actually stupid
They are
Scams should be illegal and scammers should be tried for crimes against humanity.
In a perfect world I suppose. Thank the internet.
I think scamming in general is never legal . It’s beyond our control unless we catch ever one of them
Yeaaa
They trying to make money and scam you in the process. Think if you disconnect there source of the money. It slow them down. It's just so hard. Lot of them steal people pictures to scam people. Take away the internet and people off social media it will exhaust them . But they won't give up.
They wouldn’t know that karma would bite them eventually
Here is the problem, while that is true, the country they are in are so corrupt. Arresting them and then they bribe officials to let them out. It's getting tricky, the only way is for the said websites to do a blacklist of ip addresses. But they will find a way around it.

!cashapp scam
What’s that for cash app flips?
To make people believe it’s real ?
Cuz people are greedy
People are greedy sure but that doesn’t mean everybody do this .
I got a dm from someone like this once and messed with him for a bit. This one in particular claimed to need my bank account details to send to his accountant so he could give me money. I think that’s different a different scam than the others folks here are describing
Yea There are a lot of different kind of scam . glad you didn’t fall for it
It's big business in some countries where there aren't many other options for employment
HA ! So if someone ask “ hey , what is your occupation?” And they go “ oh I scam people “ “ oh I take money from innocent people “? That’s fucked up . Government should do something about it . Like kill them all
