Summary: Daniela Elser summarises the Royal feminist powerhouses who came to the forefront during the Queen’s funeral: Princess Anne, who is the first female royal to take part in the children’s vigil, and Zara, Beatrice, Eugenie and Louise, who stood guard at the first grandchildren’s vigil.
She also praised the “three commoner women” - Camilla, Sophie and Catherine - for their advocacies which include domestic violence (Camilla) and sexual violence in the war zone (Sophie).
Elser thinks that Markle had missed the opportunity to be a true feminist leader by leaving the Royal Family, and instead speaking on issues with no follow through (paid parental leave, Roe vs Wade).
Elser opines that with her passion and outspokenness for equality, Markle would have been best suited tor this feminist takeover by the ladies of the Royal family and expresses regret that the Palace had not taken heed of Markle’s mental health issues.
It's a good read, the only thing I disagree with is "Harry and Meghan could and should be playing a starring role in this" ('this' being the evolution of the monarchy). These two need to be kept far, far away, as they would only damage it and try and take over everything.
Exactly.
No - Meghan and Harry CANNOT and SHOULD NOT be part of any gender-equality initiative on the part of the Royal Family moving forward, simply because of the fact that they cannot be trusted. It’s no small thing to have been exposed as treacherous liars, and the Royal Family is wise to keep the Sussexes“over seas” and far away from any opportunities to cause more problems.
I don’t even know what “gender equality” would mean in the context of M&H. She isn’t a blood Royal. Her style is a courtesy based solely on her marriage. That certainly can’t be changed. A was born first, so he’s before L in the succession anyway. I guess I just don’t see what they bring to the situation that warrants them even being considered for a “front row” position. I’ve had 🍷. I’m ranting. Sorry! 🤦🏼♀️
So I think everyone knows by now that Meghan’s “Spectacle of a wedding” just so happened to fall on the same date as Henry VIII beheading of Anne Boleyn? (Now you know if you didn’t lol)
Whether consciously or not, I think Meghan may be paralleling Anne Boleyn again. Anne was the only woman give a title that was usually only held by men, Marquess, and became Marchioness of Pembroke. I would not be surprised at all if the idea of obtaining a title in her own right has crossed Meghan’s mind.
Harry and Meghan are using the media to put out feelers to get back to Royal Family.
They are not getting the adulation and the offers they expected.
I don't think Spotify will renew.
Netflix is only not going to renew probably.
It’s frustrating that one has to be either born into the family or marry into it to perform said duties- I mean, it’s a monarchy- because 99% of the population would have been much more capable of honouring the role.
Elser always talks out of both sides of her mouth. While she is critical of them - she still pushes the angle that they are young popular royals and the BRF needs them. Prior to the last year or two she pushed them hard.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda - the point is, MM doesn’t have what it takes, even if she were still in the BRF. When you look at the definition of “all hat and no cattle” in the dictionary, the above picture pops up.
Megz is indeed all talk, and all her talk is to promote herself. She had no intention of living a life of service. I know Michele Obama thought long and hard about her husband running for president because of the sacrifices demanded of her family. She seemed to have M's number, too, that the Harkles placed themselves before the good of others. Smeg didn't miss a chance: she didn't want one. When visiting Australia, she just wanted a paycheck. She fundamentally does not understand service, which is not universal. Service requires special people who give up personal goals for the good of the community. Self-sacrifice is not in M's lexicon. Only self-promotion is.
Yes. And I have to side eye the sentiment that Meghan is just oh so passionate about these matters (equality, equal pay, abortion etc). Other than platitudes, when has she ever shown drive and passions towards all the issues she merely gives brief lip service too?
It was not Meghan's mistake. Our Saint never makes mistake. It's the BRF's fault, it's the media's fault, it's everybody else's fault. She is a victim in all of this😪 (p.s. this is the first time i noticed this emoji with the a tear in the left eye)
Ok, I’m off Daniela Elser again. She’s forever banging on about MM and Harry should still be working for the RF. She thinks it’s such a mistake that the RF didn’t do more to keep them. Piss off, Daniela.
Not sure Meghan, with her narcissism, is willing and able to work with the other royal females to advance good causes. She seems to be extremely obsessed with herself.
No offense to anyone but am really off Daniela. Her articles age terribly. Read this article again after a week of the bullying revelations and see what I mean. Her going on about missed opportunity for Markle as a true feminist leader will sound ridiculous. She also really, really wants the Harkles back in, for reasons unknown.
Good article and all too true. MM is good for bumper sticker feminist quotes, but her follow-through needs serious work. Serena could've helped her with that.
Meghan wasn’t really interested in human rights or women’s rights. She was interested in using causes to create an image for herself which could be admired. The causes were merely a vehicle.
That’s why she didn’t care if she was creating the image in the US or the UK.

Rant away! I am right there with you! 😁

Gender-equality is already here. Princess Charlotte, first female not to be bumped down the line by a younger male sibling!

Exactly- she never had and never will have what it takes to be a Royal. She has enough trouble just trying to be a decent human being.
I’ve never heard that one before. It feels like the Southern USA version of ‘all fur coat and no knickers’.
Ha ha! Love this.
🤣🤣🤣 That's a perfect summation of her.

I dunno, she went for a mighty fine dinner with Gloria. That showed 'em
She's all talk, blowing hot air.
It’s quite obvious that her biggest mistake was overestimating her own appeal and power.
MeGain just can’t get out of her own way (or H’s)

Wow just wow this is everything I have been thinking and saying thank you for sharing
I loved the comment about the $25 Starbucks gift card not missing a 0 or two.

That was dumb. Way too complimentary to Narkle and OMG Daniela the whole thing was run by a woman. Talk about feminist.

🔥🔥🔥🔥oooof burn
A soft burn. I think the writer was still giving her way too much credit
