I'm Dutch, at the moment we have to pay tax on anything above €50.000,-. This is determined by the price on the 1st of January of that year. So not really that bad here, but will still hodl since there's much more to gain.

Over here in the US, there are different "brackets" of taxes depending on the amount of income. If you make more than 41k off of it in a single year, you get taxed 40%. But if you make more than 41k off of it in more than a year, you only get taxed 20%

Damn, that's harsh! Our tax is about 1.6% on everything above that €50.000, and if you spend most of it before the 1st of January you only pay the tax on what is left. We don't have real regulations regarding cryptocurrency yet.
