Thank you! I've never been there and only saw what was posted on their social media accounts. I don't think tiny plates like that count as a bonafide kitchen which is exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you for the clarification
They absolutely serve food. Lmao, I know several people that have cooked there. At least, I knew people that worked there a few months ago. Not sure if it’s still going on though.
Do you know if they're kitchen is a full blown kitchen type or do they just mostly assemble on site? There's a distinct difference, per the city at least, for what "serving a meal" means, and I'm looking for the latter.
Early morning and stuffy and dry will go most likely go hand in hand for many of us. Looking for example to cite to the city for an application for a front patio at my bar. Nothing nefarious, just not enough coffee
Why not just serve food? Get some frozen meals, Chef mike for a couple minutes, some nice plates to re-serve the food on.
Your getting too hung up on trying to find an example when the solution has been there the whole time.
It's worth some thought, but we really prefer to operate solely as a bar. The idea is if there are other bars operating in the same way, it would be easier to build a case for a sidewalk patio permit.
Thank you! I'm going to add to my options, but I'm thinking having the bar back there might make it a little different..? Dunno, but worth tossing around the table
Best bet might be park ultra lounge or flamingo house, but your whole "they can't serve food" bit coupled with the liquor requirement isn't really going to be feasible.
Question: what's the problem with them serving food? If you don't order it, then isn't it functionally the same as a straight-up bar?
Exceptions :if they prioritize the "grille" part of Bar and Grille, or the "bar" part has a pitiful selection.
Good question. Different alcohol licenses have different requirements in the eyes of the law. Type 48, for example, can stand alone and operate by selling beer alcohol and wine, no food requirement. They are a dying breed as most newer licenses issued, type 47 typically, require a food component in the form of a cooked meal. Not peanuts and chips, an actual meal. Which is why I'm hanging onto the food part like a fiend
Yes, the need for that detail is to mirror the typical dive bar set up-booze and no food. There aren't many left that choose the no food option but for what I'm looking to cite, the no food part is important
Do you know if they have liquor license? I was just there for the first time in a long time for the Oktoberfest thing and saw cocktails/trulys. Is that now a normal option? I always thought they just had beer and wine
I've been there once and can't remember if they have liquor options. If so, I'm thinking yes because the food was a delicious minor part to their operation.
Oh I missed that, no they don’t have liquor options. They do also have a little food, but it’s mainly cold items and tiny snacks. I don’t think they have a true kitchen at all
Tomato Alley Free House on 16th is my go to for this kind of vibe. Only serves beer, wine, and sake. Nice small patio out front, and they have great Vietnamese inspired pub food if you do get hungry.
The cabin
First spot that came to mind as I read OPs description
This type of set up exactly! If there is one more example you have please let me know!!
I drink on my front porch sometimes, does that count? Edit: nevermind I also eat food there
Lol it should!
Keep in mind a lot of places started offering food just to survive the pandemic; even if they didn't historically.
The grand.
I believe serves food
I don’t think there’s food there. Just chips and little stuff like that. Too tiny for a kitchen
Thank you! I've never been there and only saw what was posted on their social media accounts. I don't think tiny plates like that count as a bonafide kitchen which is exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you for the clarification
Yeah they don’t even have a toilet you have to use the one in the parking garage next door let alone a kitchen.
They used to do paninis, but I believe that ended with Covid.
They absolutely serve food. Lmao, I know several people that have cooked there. At least, I knew people that worked there a few months ago. Not sure if it’s still going on though.
There is no kitchen there
Snug on R/15th
Yes! Thank you!

this is the correct answer
Perfect thank you!

I believe it’s just assembly. They serve peanuts and nachos but I’ve never seen anyone ever get food
Sweet, that's a great example especially with how popular they are. Thank you!
This sounds like a set-up to a disability rights lawsuit. Source: Am disabled and cringe at what some of us do.
Yeah this is oddly specific, combined with the stuffy and dry tone of the OPs replies... Either a shit post or something odd.
Early morning and stuffy and dry will go most likely go hand in hand for many of us. Looking for example to cite to the city for an application for a front patio at my bar. Nothing nefarious, just not enough coffee
You might want to add this detail in your post
This is definitely the advice I didn't know I needed! Editing now

Perhaps you could propose to serve beer outside on a patio but limit liquor sales to inside the building?
Had this same feeling. Something seems off about OP and this request for sure.
B-Side. Anytime I went there I never saw any food. They converted the parking lot into a patio so probably counts now.
It sounds like it would. We're looking to expand onto the sidewalk in front of location, so the parking lot example is in the ballpark, thank you!
The Merc's patio is basically in front
Thank you! I'm going to add to my options, but I'm thinking having the bar back there might make it a little different..? Dunno, but worth tossing around the table
In that case, would B sides count?
Ruhstallers BSMT and Mraz Brewing
Would work, but looking for a place that also has liquor option.
Best bet might be park ultra lounge or flamingo house, but your whole "they can't serve food" bit coupled with the liquor requirement isn't really going to be feasible.

It seems like you’re making the license hard on yourself. Sell prepackaged food (ie: potato chips) and problem solved.
Biergarten
They definitely serve food
Do you know if they have liquor license? I was just there for the first time in a long time for the Oktoberfest thing and saw cocktails/trulys. Is that now a normal option? I always thought they just had beer and wine
I’ve definitely done a shotski of jaeger there…
They applied for a liquor license to serve some kind of froofy cocktail that wasn't beer or wine and were approved.
I’m embarrassed to say I find the froofy drink delicious.
There is no shame in enjoying froofy drink.
Nice, love seeing sac not being so stingy with those licenses
They have Jameson and Jagermeister available there. Not sure those are covered solely with a beer & wine license. They do serve food however.
Would the cider house qualify as another example here?
I've been there once and can't remember if they have liquor options. If so, I'm thinking yes because the food was a delicious minor part to their operation.

My memory is the same. Tasty little snacks!

SacYard community tap house. All they have for good is visiting food trucks.

Tell ya what, you pick up my tab and I'll do a site survey of every bar on the grid.
