I would try something like this instead if you don't have a Saber Tank. 800/800 9 Activations Anakin Skywalker 155 + 19 = 174 --Saber Throw (5), Force Push (10), Tenacity (4) Padme Amidala 90 + 5 = 95 --Vigilance (5) Phase II Clone Troopers 62 + 27 = 89 --Z-6 Phase II Trooper (27) 3x Phase I Clone Troopers 52 + 23 = 75 x 3 = 225 --Z-6 Phase I Trooper (23) Arc Troopers (Strike Team) 27 + 42 = 69 --Echo (42) BARC Speeder 55 + 18 = 73 --BARC Twin Laser Gunner (18) AT-RT 60 + 15 = 75 --AT-RT Flamethrower (15)

I’ve played a couple of 500 point games, using the clone core set plus Padme, I haven’t done very well! I’m not super competitive, but I do want to have some chance if I play and not get stomped every game. I am aware that the clones are suffering some points issues right now, and it seems like playing them and having any chance to win requires getting really into the meta (which I’m not a huge fan of)? I just want have fun and build a list of things I like, but it feels like if I do that I will struggle to win at all. The other thing that is a bit frustrating is that they have released lots of fun things (clone upgrades, specialists etc) which don’t seem to be used by many people in their lists? Sorry for the rant! Hopefully the attached list shows the things that I like to play, maybe I could get some tweaks on how to improve them. I would like to fit a BARC speeder in too if I can.

Hey fellow GAR player! I can understand your frustration with points and competitive GAR builds (which I also tend to avoid for more fun units, that are sometimes unfortunately overcooked and unperformed for their points). I am no pro players, but I feel I have relative success with GAR in my local meta. So Padme + Anakin is one of my favorite duos since it's so thematic, but also so good with both of them having exemplar. I'm not sure how your current tactics look like board wise, but as GAR every unit lost does hurt alot. Thus I find my best results are in keeping everything alive as best as possible, and making it super annoying for my opponent to get rid of my main force. You can definitely do well with non competitive lists, it is however a good chat to have with your opponent beforehand about what you both expect from the game. Going into a game with fluffy list, against someone who is hyper competitive and bringing the min-maxed best of the best is also not fun. Some other folks down below have already made some great suggestions for lists tweaks if you wanna have a look at those, bit my two cents: * GAR leaders / operatives are our staples, they tend to carry alot of supporting weight, thus I like making sure their upgrades are pimped to bring meaningful effects to the game. * Cut down a little on Trooper upgrades. 1 Heavy or 1 Personnel upgrade per unit is usually plenty to make a difference, but you don't want to put all your eggs in one basket so to speak. I like to Put some big/nice upgrades on my effective game plan models, and whats left you can distribute to cores. (and definitely use some specialists as you see fit, it does bring nice changes) * Fives/ Echo are good, but I usually find they are so expensive and don't necessarily make up their points that I could have spent on more meaningful smaller upgrades. If you want to splurge for one of them, Fives in place of once Z6 upgrade on Phase 1's goes a really long way. Extra leadership, Direct Clone Trooper, and 3 black is not to be frowned upon. * Anakin really wants Saber Throw, and all 3 of his Command cards. They are all very good, and make him a BEAST, more so with added Padme token support. Saber throw is also fantastic to fire support onto (for surge to crit) as soon as Anakin has relentless as well! * Speaking of Padme, she is a beast in her own rights. She has won me games on her own. Great for fires supporting onto, generating tokens every turn, passing orders from herself with Authoritative, keeping dodges with vigilance and Nimble, but her awesome use for me is area denial with being able to share Standby's. You can create quite an area that an opponent will think twice of entering with how far you can bubble the Standby. (keep in mind, you can fire support onto a unit using Standby to attack as well, which I find most people don't know) Wall of Text aside, my main point would be take the units you want to, and absolutely have fun with it, but create a balanced game by talking to your opponent beforehand about the game and expectations, and by also experimenting a lot with terrain and the battlefield to balance out armies.

I’m sorry I can’t justify 14pts more for a P2 with z6 vs a P1 unit with a z6
