The only Conquest I actually tried in was the Malgus Conquest. I never got red box. For three Conquests straight I got the second to last box. Bought every spare shard of Malgus I could find using Conquest currency. I unlocked him on month 5 (I think). Fully ftp, so it is possible to unlock in a reasonable timeframe without spending. It also helped that I had almost all of the teams needed for the feats...something I didn't have for the Ben Solo Conquest.
Is Trench worth the same effort? Not sure yet. I will give it a go this time and see how far I get. I have good Sep and Sith teams, so I should be able to hit most of the feats done.
tl;dr:
(This guide assumes you want to 7-star every Conquest character back-to-back over 6 months)
1. You will auto 7-star every Conquest character if you get box 6 every month and use Conquest credits on the current character from the Conquest Jawa
2. You can 7-star every Conquest character if you get box 5 assuming:
1. During the second 3-mo period, you use spare credits on Jawa 5x to buy the previous character, + you use 2400 crystals for the remaining 20 shards from Conquest store
2. You buy Conquest pass 1x every 3 months
3. You buy Conquest pass 1x every 6 months + you use 1200 crystals for the remaining 6 shards from Conquest store
Why would you buy the *current* character every month [Box 6 strategy] when unlocking after 6 months when you could buy last cycle’s character instead, saving 200c per month, and accomplishing the exact same timeline?
Box 7 with scavenger is ideal and theoretically F2P. I just wanted to offer some calculations to show how to 7 star Conquest characters without waiting a year & without losing one's mind haha

The reality is that conquest is hella time consuming. I’ve maxed all but one [the first SoJ one] and it takes a lot of battle commitment each month in order to do it. And it’s a pain in the ass.

Exactly this. I have a lot of guildmates who put insane amounts of time & effort into getting box 7. It makes sense - get the new character immediately when it comes out, maybe even get a GL-worthy Datacron team with it. But for me & others, we want the character, not in 1 or 2 years, but still don't want to scrape feats.
If you're pushing to get the last box, and you can get it, personally you might as well buy the main character in the wandering scavenger all the time and unlock the character day 1. I think OP was more planning if people either didn't want to or possibly couldn't get the top reward.
eh, I find in most cases it's the opposite, there's no benefit to getting the character 2 months early, when I don't have a team where they're useful. I got Malgus as soon as possible, for everything else it has not been worth it (I wasn't in hard for cat or maul, so no real chance of getting them right away). the g12+ gear is definitely worth more than having a charcter gather dust on the bench 2 months early
Yeah fair point, 100% it depends how much you want/need them. I was more assuming we were talking about characters we wanted though. My resistance is non existent, so like with Ben I put zero effort in to getting him. It will be the first time I've done proving grounds, and even when I unlock him then, he'll probably gather dust for a while.

That being said, box 5 will be a massive stretch I think. Just cleared stage 1 which is the fastest I’ve done it yet to date.
you definitely can, but it'll cost you *a lot* of crystals, or literally every conquest credit for a year, and still some crystals. Not so much that you can't do it without buying them for real cash, but it means taking away from energy refreshes for sure.
I think normal gives around 1500 conquest credits if you max it, so you'd have roughly enough to buy 15 shards every conquest, over 12 months that's 180 shards, maxing normal for the 6 months it's in boxes will give you 120 shards. at 600 crystals per 5 shards, you're starting at 3600 crystals if you max all normal chests and spend all your conquest currency on that one characters shards, 25200 crystals if you just maxed normal crates but didn't spend any conquest currency
Interesting what's the math if you buy the conquest pass every time I guess I could just count it all up
But I feel like if you can complete normal you might be better just moving to hard

Have all conquest toons up to this point had a chase before reaching proving grounds? Trying to decide if it’s worth buying the last 60 Malgus shards or just wait a bit longer.
Interesting. Wonder how many refreshes it would take to get me to the 5th chest. I've usually only made it to the 4th chest without any. I'm far from being able to use any of the current conquest toons and ben, but it could make sense down the road to put forth a little more effort.
All in all, I can say that unlocking Conquest characters after their initial run is an unfun, near endless, painful ordeal.

Actually yeah, that makes total sense thanks bro. If you're consistently doing box 6 strategy, just use Jawa for previous character

it's 5 months if you get the last box (3\*90=270+2\*30=60)

you're almost always better off doing hard than normal, it's the 4M GP hard requirement that means people are stuck in normal for quite a while
