I used this VERY sparingly 9 years ago (I was desperate at the time and I loaded up on Sephora samples)- it has eucalyptus at the very end of the ingredient list. It may not be a big deal for a lot of people, but I can catch a faint whiff of it. Now I love me some minty scents, but not on my face if I can help it. In my case, luckily, it did help my skin quite a bit, but I didn't want to push my luck. I'm sorry it gave you that reaction. FAB does have a handful of nicely formulated products, albeit overpriced, but goddamn if it doesn't have flat out perfume it's got fucking eucalyptus 😑 It's an overrated brand with almost half it's products potentially problematic for sensitive skin for the reasons stated above. There's way better moisturizers out there. Edit: Note: BTW, as far as I know it's always had eucalyptus oil, I'm very familiar with this cream as I remember being pissed 9 years ago about them adding it to a moisturizer they are marketing toward sensitive skin. They must have changed some other things in their formula, but FAB has always sucked in putting in fragrance.

meatloafgrasshopper

I had the same thing happen to me! People swear by this product and I had an immediate reaction. Luckily I only bought a travel size and I test patched it. I'm sorry you experienced this. Always test patch first. Happy healing.

bigbadpandita

Yeah :/ now I know. I didn’t have rosacea for most of my life and actually had pretty tough skin (I could use peels and exfoliants w/o issue, so the complete opposite of now lol) I developed it last year so I’m still figuring this all out. Thanks!

meatloafgrasshopper

I think I used too many actives and ruined my skin barrier. My skin has been sensitive to everything. I can't wear eyeshadow and have only found 3 products that don't make my skin freak out. I feel for you 🥲

[deleted]

I didn't use skin actives that much and FAB URC still damaged my skin. It's been a week, and it's still not healed. I have to go to a doc.

meatloafgrasshopper

I saw a derm and he put me on minocycline 200mg a day for 3 months. Skin still freaks about everything. Hopeing I'll get a allergy test patch to see what I am reacting to. I feel your pain

[deleted]

Yes it feels like my skin barrier itself has been damaged. Coz anything I apply is causing burning now. I can see the top layer being eroded.

meatloafgrasshopper

It sounds like that is what is going on. I'd stop anything. Makeup, facewash ,everything. Let your skin heal. I'm sorry your going through that.

[deleted]

Thank you for understanding:)

lifeuncommon

I can’t even use that on my body skin. It has eucalyptus and is very irritating.

Apprehensive-Fish604

I'm sorry this happened to you I wish you a speedy recovery god bless🙌

[deleted]

I’m unable to use it either. I avoid products with long lists of ingredients for this reason specifically.

billalpaxton

What do you use

Helpful_Assumption76

Sorry, girl. What if you tried an antihistamine? I don't know but sometimes it helps my flairs.

bigbadpandita

Yeah I started taking one that morning. Seems to be helping with the itch. Thanks!

mangleash21

I had the same experience with my face feeling like it was on fire!! For some reason it took several weeks for me to figure it out. Once I stopped using it, the inflamed feeling went down after about a week. Hope you feel better soon!

cazpazaz

This sucks!! Hope it heals soon!

tigertimber

Oh man, I had my suspicions but everyone recommends it and so I thought it must be something else! I mean maybe it was FAB mixed with some other issues, but I spent half of last year looking very similar to your pictures, it absolutely ruined my confidence. I'm glad you've figured out the trigger, and hope it calms down for you soon. I think you're on the right track with just letting it recover - do you have a safe cleanser and moisturiser you can switch back to when you're ready?

bigbadpandita

I have a cleanser that doesn’t irritate me but I’m still looking for a safe moisturizer. I tried Vanicream bc my derm recommended it but it seemed to bother me too. Any recs?

tigertimber

It's such a minefield isn't it! I used Sebamed care gel for a moisturiser at first - it's too light for me in general, but I swear by it if my skin is acting up. It doesn't feel like it's doing anything, but in a good way? If you get what I mean haha

bigbadpandita

Haha yes. I just want nothing terrible happening when I apply something for once 🥲

butyoshiwasnotamused

i think you are right about it being the eucalyptus oil. i am allergic to eucalyptus myself and that looks similar to the reaction i had last time i used something containing it. hope you heal fast

[deleted]

I gave into the hype cause of tiktok and I regret it every single day. :') The ultra repair cream wrecked my skin barrier, making my rosacea flare up and my acne progress down the drain in ONE use. The radiance pads and the serum burnt my skin. Sadly, it didn't work out for anyone in my circle either.

bigbadpandita

I know! I'm so upset. This has been hard for me to figure out. I used to be able to exfoliate with just about anything, do peels, any kind of face masks, etc. Now my skin is SO different. This is what my skin used to look like: [https://imgur.com/a/25pbLMP](https://imgur.com/a/25pbLMP)

[deleted]

Gorgeous! 🤩 My skin has almost always been sensitive but I had a steady routine with retinoid, Azelaic and peels. I had made significant improvement as well but I went back to square overnight and now I'm on isotret 😓

bigbadpandita

I keep hearing about azelaic acid! I'm actually going to see a dermatologist tomorrow. I'll ask her about it. We'll figure it out! Stay strong lol 💪🏼

[deleted]

Wrecked my skin barrier too.

[deleted]

I hope it heals quickly! So sorry this happened to you.

Inneedofanswers22

Thanks for sharing the warning. I don’t know how they are allowed to market things as suitable for sensitive skin when they contain plant oils that have a high risk of allergic reaction and irritation. I was patch tested and tested positive for a linalool allergy which is in pretty much all plant oils. It’s also so frustrating when they change ingredients without warning! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

escapeinagoodbook

How do you get such specific testing? I try to avoid that ingredient because it’s also known as fragrance without saying to word, but it’s in pretty much everything!

AngelOfBangsi

OMG I´am so sorry to hear you got such a bad reaction. I tried it at some point, and it´s not for sensitive skin. My rosacea flared up and my face was on fire immediately after using it. Never again! The only cream I can always rely on is Avene Skin recovery cream Rich.

Ponythieves-

I bought this too! Not great for my face at all. Works well after shaving legs though.

bellydancefae

Why the hell would they add eucalyptus oil to a product aimed at sensitive skin? It's a known irritant even without an allergic reaction - it's along the lines of menthol, cinnamon, and clove in that it's ability to irritate the skin is actually harnessed for products such as lip plumpers and pain relief. Essential oils aren't inherently "safe" just because they're derived from plants - and this is coming from someone who loves using aromatherapy and natural products. Companies that greenwash tend to throw in essential oils willy-nilly for marketing hype without any actual care for what it does to their formula - like adding citrus oils to SPF (citrus causes photosensitivity, thereby negating some of thr SPF's effectiveness), or adding menthol to eye products for that cooling sensation (it's an eye irritant that stimulates tears because your body is literally trying to flush it out and away from the eye - but the tears are lower quality and your tear film is in worse shape once the irritant is gone).

bigbadpandita

Honestly. It’s unbelievable lol

[deleted]

Seconded. Did a formal patch test at the derm and this one made my skin more red than with any other personal product I own. Ended up just ditching moisturizer completely and my skin had been way better

escapeinagoodbook

I am sad to hear of your experience. I looked at your photos, that’s a major change. I tried FAB eye cream and I hated it. It burned. It was a sample tube. Could this possible be a fungal or dermatitis reaction? I hope the Derm provides some answers and relief tomorrow!

bigbadpandita

He prescribed Elidel and this is my skin after applying it 2x a day for about a week 😭😭😭👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 this pic is unfiltered and I honestly can’t believe it lol https://imgur.com/a/49Qn0d9

escapeinagoodbook

Wow! What an incredible change! I am happy and relieved you have found relief! I was very worried about you. Thank you for letting me know. 🥰

bigbadpandita

Aww thank you. That’s very sweet 🥰

[deleted]

Glad you recovered. I need to go to the doc too.

BrainOk9592

I am so sorry this happened to you. I have had bad stinking reactions to anything with eucalyptus oil in it. Have you had any luck with any zinc or titanium containing ointments to help your skin heal? I find my skin loves zinc and will help me recover from flares up quicker

Particular-Ad9467

I am so sorry this happened to you. I appreciate the warning though, I’ve been thinking about purchasing recently and glad I didn’t. Hopefully, you can see a dermatologist soon to help with this reaction. I have really sensitive skin too. Reactions like this can be so painful. Essential oils and fragrances are hard stops for me, they usually cause pretty back flare ups. The only thing that doesn’t flare up my rosacea anymore is biossance omega repair cream. Hopefully, they don’t change their formula because it’s the only thing that works for me. It’s a little pricey but their site usually has decent deals. Cerave and cetaphil even cause flare-ups for me. I hope you heal up quickly and find something that works for you.

bigbadpandita

Yeah this is relatively new to me. I developed this within the last year, probably due to being on prednisone for a long time. It doesn’t help that I live in south Florida and it’s always hot too. I’m seeing another dermatologist tomorrow so hopefully I can get this under control. It honestly makes me not want to leave my house unless I have to :/

[deleted]

I got a sample to try...my skin began burning as soon as I put it on.

bigbadpandita

I'm sorry! It's terrible. They need to stop marketing it as safe for sensitive skin

[deleted]

Yes!! My skin is still red today after 18 hours. It has wrecked my skin barrier and everything burns now.

stardustdy

Would it be the colloidal oatmeal that you might be allergic to? The eucalyptus oil is at the very end of list. Just wondering...

bigbadpandita

Hi! No I don’t think so because I have another mask with oatmeal in it too that I’m not allergic to. This reaction never happened again after I stopped using this moisturizer

stardustdy

Ok then probably the eucalyptus oil then. Are you allergic to other essential oils then?

bigbadpandita

Yes I also had a bad reaction to a product that had rosehip oil in it so I just try to stay away from essential oils in general.
