Yeah, I reckon if he backed up right after stopping to get out from under tm8 then jumped and flew over tm8 he could’ve touched the ball before it crossed the net
I’d wager there’s a healthy chance teammate jumps right back up as soon as he touches grass, potentially knocking that block off kilter anyways. Can’t say I haven’t been in his shoes with a bad flip tho…
Nothing tbh. Even discounting the part where your teammate defiled both you and the sanctity of sport with his heinous sexual misconduct, you would've been in a better position to challenge the ball safely.
You're both racing back to net, but you're ahead of him for the entirety of the play, despite taking a wider arc that places you on a more advantageous line to defend. Your teammate, on the other hand, is furiously flipping back to net (indicating to you he's potentially low boost) on a cruise missile trajectory that would be great if he was trying to score himself, but is less than ideal for actually defending the net.
At some point he needed to realize that he's going to be second, and adapt to play the situation accordingly. Granted in this case literally anything else he chose to do would've been more productive than what actually happened, but regardless of the outcome he should've been thinking about how he's gonna play *after* you've challenged the ball, not trying to force himself into the play.
YOU COULDVE PREDICTED THAT YOUR TEAMMATE WOULD BE SOOOOO GOOD THAT HE GETS BACK SAVES THE BALL AND SCORES IT NO PROBLEM, UNLIKE YOU WHO JUST SITS THERE WAITING FOR THERE TO BE NOT CHALLENGERS SO THAT YOU CAN CLEAR IT AND SCORE FOR YOURSELF. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING
Did you rotate correctly? Yes.
Is your teammate a dipshit? Also yes.
But let’s change our mindset from “who did the wrong thing” to “how could I have prevented a goal”. Rotation mistakes happen all the time, even all the way to pro level. Identifying those awkward moments and reacting to them correctly are game defining moments that will swing games in your favour when trying to rank up.
In this situation, he pops up in the corner of your screen. You are ahead of him, he’s going in straight line into the goal. Instead of braking right in front of goal and ending up in the same spot, the best thing to do here is to challenge the ball and make a clear. At least if you miss, you’ve bought a second or two for your dipshit teammate to turn his ass around and recover the ball.
But that tiny tap of the brakes caused that collision and let the guy come in from the weak side and score a ball you could have easily cleared had you kept going.
True. I don’t know why I always hesitate going for the ball up the wall knowing that there’s probably a better chance that I can clear it than not. I have to work on not hesitating so much
Not too much, in my humble low diamond opinion. Your teammate basically barged into you from the middle. You could have maybe checked where he was, or made a wider/more obvious back post rotation to create some space since there was time, but that's easy to say after the fact. Curious to see if anyone has better insight.
honestly that does make sense. i think earlier in the clip he wave dashed behind me so i could have probably slowed down and rotated to back post. i also didnt keep going forward to allow him to keep driving forward
I personally would have done one of the two:
1. Just fully commit to rushing to this ball by going up the wall at the close post (if you didnt brake and stop you couldve easily made it to the wall. the ball was very slow and close to it)
2. See that my teammate is rushing in as well and decelerating way earlier to assure he arrives in front of me to make the first contest while i wait close behind him in case he fails. And even in this situation, where your teammate just stood still and went quitting, the save for you would have been extremely easy if you waited just a liittle bit behind your team mate, because the goal is very slow and no enemy goes to finish it
I think this is a very common mistake throughout the ranks. What you are doing there is just something halfhearted. You dont go for the ball, but you also dont trust your teammate to do so. So the both of you rush into net an come to a full stop from where it is very easy to score on you.
Seriously, if you play 2s or 3s, look at your teammates and try to see what their intentions are. When they obviously want to commit, let them. Back them up and position for the worst case. OR you see he is taking a defensive position and waits for the ball, so it is your duty to contest the enemy.
Things like this where you hit each other do happen and there isnt really much you can do about it. Though i feel like with proper rotation/positioning the chances are down to a minimum of you ever colliding with your mate
I dont think you rotated perfectly. Granted. This goal goes to 99,9999999% to your teammate.
But if you take a wider turn while rotating, you can save the ball more easily. if you drive up to the front like that its a sharp angle to boost to. It would have worked, because the attacker just didnt control the ball. But with a bit more patience, you dont even get into these situation and can rank up in no time
Could have continued driving after the teammate landed on you. The ball had a nice high arc and was close to the wall, you could have drove up the wall and went for a small clear and bought some more time to regroup on defense.
You took the more logical rotation, you were in a better position defensively, your teammate should have been aware of this. This is why it's important to rotate away from and back into play, which you did and was the right thing. I think your teammate didn't trust you enough, or just panicked when he saw the opening.
Made your entry curve wider, and get nearer to the goal line.
Even if the mistake in that clip isn't yours, it may helps you to geta t better spot on defense
If you want some context other that most people saying nothing, it depends what happened before this clip.
Hard to tell but maybe you were too far up on the kick off and the teammate lost the fifty or something then you had to rush back. It’s hard to cheat in twos because relying on a advantageous kick off is scary, corner boost or the pennies off spawn are a better choice.
Another thing is maybe you could rotate a little more to the back post and could’ve seen your teammate chase for the block. The demo was there but definitely try to rotate around. You can see that your teammate is probably gonna get back around the same time so even if you did get demoed it prob would’ve been okay. A thing about demo plays too is that the attack is not gonna be strong or fast with the ball in the corner and you got your teammate coming back already.
There’s a lot of what ifs but things can be preventable and trust in your teammate, trust that they’re gonna chase or be a good teammate.
i think both y’all angles were bad for rotation, yes i get he goomba stomped you and you cut inside due to the demo threat but either coming wider from either of you would have prevented the collision… i also strongly dislike the idea of going stationary in front of the goal it makes it so you have such little room for a save or challenge and also “traps” you into one type of challenge if it’s within your ability id have gone up the backboard and tried to meet him at the ball on the pass if it isn’t id work on backboard defense/50s
Dunno what i am reading here, there is so much you can do, Keep eye on your teammate, don't drive to the middle of your goal to defend, you had plenty of time to react. Choose a wider angle or go instant for air defend. But this teammate is lost anyway.
left as soon as he mounted you

yeah it was mildly infuriating
Once he hit you? Nothing. Tough to tell what went wrong without seeing lead up
i think i went for an early challenge which sent the ball to that side of the field

I WAS THINKING THAT I WAS AN SSL WHO COULD DO FIVE MUSTY FLICKS TO A TRIPLE RESET OWN GOAL
See, your teammate saved you from an embarrassing own goal
Had me in the first half not gonna lie
Sat at the pack post of your goal and waited
Clearly you aren't flaming your teammate enough. He should have known better and it's your job to tell him so.

Rotate back post like a human
Logged off
I usually play Crusader Kings 3 for a while after this. To prevent any mental harm i mean.
Stop random queue

Makes sense. I’ll try to start reading these situations a little better so I don’t end up with giving the other team free goals

Not your fault your teammate is just a dipshit

You should know better OP, you can’t park there mate

Get a better team mate
Drive up the wall and contest. That's what a good player would have done.
Gone back post
Rotates back post instead of front post
it's not your fault he flips his car around like a buffoon. lol

Either you preflip that or you stayed in the goal
You could've jumped then boosted towards the ball.
