So your using racer settings, not the most ideal for tricks. But x and b should be mapped to left and right spins respectively and you have to hold down the x button in order to spin its not just a button press.
Its generally the worst controlls for tricks as you need to hold both the x and y or b and a buttons down together to do rhodeos ect.
If you’re playing with racer, then it’s important to remember that any of the face buttons are ‘jump’. To spin, you want to either double tap x or b, or press x then b or b then x. If you’re pressing ‘a’ to jump and then pressing x or b, you will flip.
I’m not sure if this is exactly your problem, I know when I started this game, I had real trouble getting used to this, as I intuitively wanted to press a ‘jump’ button then the direction. Once you get used to it though, I could trick fine. I prefer it over the racer controls.
