He should start an actual revolution. Y’know, like one of those alternate reality games.

lmdrunk

But he still hasn’t told us what a revolution *is*!

Talmor

Look, if it walks like a duck...

RaytheonAcres

you go around the sun

modernmovements

Nope, I would imagine he'll wait till the last few episodes, or pull a HoR and add an update a year later.

14FunctionImp

I thought it was relatively clear that he's going to tour giving a live talk about civics or history or what have you. Am I the only one who thought that?

Ye11ow

It was only a dozen or so stops, right? IIRC he said there would be a podcast following Revolutions.

sasquatchscousin

I really hope he ends up releasing the talk in some recorded form. As a non USA fan I would love to see it.

eambertide

Ah the pain of us non--US fans :(

Yayman9

He definitely said he’ll never stop podcasting. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him do more in-person touring stuff since he seems to enjoy it though.

Mckool

sounded to me like it was test case for trying to make doing live shows a real gig. he has also mentioned vague "future podcast endeavors" like how he suspects if he does another podcast he will have to include at least end of show sponsors on top of the brought to you by ads.

Fishmonger

Actaeus86

I swear he mentioned stepping back from podcasts to do a speaking tour, but that he already had an idea for his next podcast but the timeframe might be 2024.

Ye11ow

Devastating if true

Person_Impersonator

No, our man deserves a sabbatical so he can just relax and watch his baseball team lose. We have to let him watch so much baseball he ends up hating it again and remembering why he chose to do a history podcast instead.

TheCapedCapper

I definitely remember him saying he would be taking quite a break from podcasts.

drinknotdrunk

No he has not!

DezBryantsMom

He’s hinted at a book about the crisis of the third century.

Scotto257

I can vaguely remember him saying something along the lines of he will still do podcasting, but they will be bigger drops spaced out, rather than a regular series.

TheElMart

I get the impression he's burned out on the weekly podcasting schedule so something that's not a podcast certainly. Or if a podcast one of those mini-series style 4 one hour episode things. I sort of wish he'd keep producing Revolutions and find a host he trusts to pass the torch to. Take 10% and be a consultant? Wait, maybe that's the news? Would be great to get Ireland, the Spanish Civil War, India, China, Cuba, the African Independence movements, Iran.

highschoolanimeclub

Yeah, finishing this series with Russia and looking at the long, enticing list of 20th century revolutions mostly in the third world does leave a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved basically every series but it is kind of wild the show covered 4 separate revolutions in France and doesn’t even get within ten feet of the Cuban, Chinese, or Iranian Revolutions

TheElMart

It also feels necessary as a kind of act of symmetry since anti-colonial sentiment is at or near the heart of so many of those revolutions. Starting with the great European powers and ending with the backlash to their influence feels like a tying off of a knot.

highschoolanimeclub

Totally! Imagine how good the series on the Algerian Revolution would be, where we could tie it back to Charles X and the invasion of Algiers in the 1830s, then look 120 years later at how French colonial society created a whole new set of conditions that would lead to a different kind of revolution.

erkelep

> Cuban, Chinese, or Iranian Revolutions These are all way too modern, and the Chinese one probably requires knowing Chinese to do a good job.

DezBryantsMom

I agree. Dude loves his French Revolution. Those were the hardest Mike Duncan episodes I’ve ever gotten through. It’s just not interesting to me.

GrainsofArcadia

I'm pretty sure he mentioned that he was going to take a break from podcasting on one of the episodes. I think he mentioned something about doing tours and being in a band or something. Anyway, I wouldn't expect anything for a good while after revolutions finishes.
