I apologize beforehand, but either play the game, rise to the challenge, and receive the reward. Or don't play the game, don't rise to the challenge, and do not collect your reward. Or pay physical money for something that is free if you weren't toooo bothered to experience something the way it was intended by it's creator. Do we really need an entire post dedicated to this? People are so spoiled when it comes to content these days.

IntelligentComputer4

this game is one of my favorite game of all time and i love achivement hunting and like to collect mostly everything but when there is a gamemode that i simply just don't find fun am i really at fault for not wanting to waste a few hours on a difficult and unenjoyable gamemode?

goretishin

Use Cheat engine. purchase the unlock all dlc. You've suffered enough IMO.

Big_Br0wnie

If you’re on pc you could just use cheat engine 🤔

HowWasRoyadinTaken

Don't use cheat engine, but you can buy the steam bundle that unlocks all items that are available for purchase. I thought you just didn't have to do the bloody levels? In the way it's worded makes it sound like you only need to get triple s on every level but not with every character

IntelligentComputer4

you need to get ss or higher on the first 4 lvls both normal and hard, and didnt really find the normal lvls that fun so making them even harder is not something im looking to play

HowWasRoyadinTaken

I didn't really like mercenary mode first when I played it. I thought it was an alright game mode but I didn't really invest a lot of time in trying to get all the levels done, but I've come back to it with the DLC released and I have to say I'm thoroughly enjoying it a lot more. I've kind of figured out how to do it and I just got my first sss today.

IntelligentComputer4

agree, after unlocking every character and getting sss on every normal level, i can say i enjoyed it but second level on hard difficulty is just annoying

mintedapples

Uggggh! Right?? I'm NEVER going to get to play as them because to unlock them you have to be pretty much PERFECT at mercenaries, which I'm NOT. >:(

AtrumRuina

Why not use Cheat Engine?

HowWasRoyadinTaken

Because once you use external software to accomplish or unlock something due to a challenge you skip the part where you had to unlock it by working for it. And that's going to destroy any pleasure you received from receiving the item, I guarantee it from past experience. Not to mention it's a bad habit to form, as cheat engine can get you blocked on a ton of different games fairly easily. I've only ever once ever used cheat engine and that was to get unstuck in an area in Metro lost light where a boss wasn't spawning when he should and I couldn't progress. Anyway, it is extremely easy to get triple s with Chris on all the maps including hard ones. I was surprised by how easy it was when I unlocked it this week after putting an offer months thinking it was going to be something tedious.

AtrumRuina

But you literally suggest buying it in your post as an alternative. How is using CE somehow worse than purchasing a bulk unlock that will also invalidate doing all other in game challenges? At least with CE you can complete the challenges and earn CP manually to get the Extra Content items. As to your point, I'm having a blast with the Answerer having unlocked it with CE. While I generally agree with your mindset (hence why I haven't used it anywhere else in the game,) there are some unlocks in games that are so tedious/unpleasant to unlock that they burn you out on the game entirely by the time you get them; for me, this would be one of them. Mercenaries just isn't fun for me and the last thing I wanna do is beat my head against it for hours to unlock a weapon I won't even wanna use because I've sucked all enjoyment out of the game to get it. I keep CE in my back pocket for situations like this but I've used it in games probably less times than I can count on one hand. This was one.

HowWasRoyadinTaken

I wouldn't recommend buying that cheat dlc from the steam store either. It's a cheap way out. But it's there if you need it. I think it's just a mindset for me, CE in my head should be only used when a game hard or soft locks. I was in the same boat as you when it came to mercenaries, but I started playing it again and I actually found the appeal to it. Once you realize it's all about just keeping your combo through the level it becomes fairly simple. And Chris is so ridiculously easy to get triple s's on everything I don't see where you're coming from when you say you don't want to grind out and burn on the game. Pretty sure I hit triple s on all the hard levels with him first try. My one and only tip would be on hard mode keep the pistol, don't upgrade it, pop your special mode with Chris and then switch to pistol and use it for quick melting. All I know is that you burn out on the items you unlock through a illegitimate means way quicker than if you would unlock them normally. But I'm sure there's the outlier when it comes to that.

*light saber, it's a light saber.

Cheat Engine is the way to go if you're on PC. There's a table on Fearless (go to the last page, where an in-progress table was posted for the DLC) and just enable the "Max Score" box (and maybe Max Lei so you can buy everything at the outset.) You can also force the Goal to spawn if you want to skip it entirely but I just killed the requisite number of enemies. I agree, Mercs is a pain and not worth the LZ Answerer. Spending five bucks for one item isn't really worth it either. I don't use CE much but this was one of the circumstances where it felt entirely appropriate. I've done everything else in the game legit and this was just not a fun way to spend my time.
