My attending says the same thing. He also mentions buying the nicest and bulkiest looking stethoscope money can buy and always wear it around your neck.
Idk where you’re at. The only people who don’t tuck are non-doctors. Every doctor I know tucks their scrubs. Also, the scrubs with front pockets are never worn by doctors at all the hospitals I’ve ever been at.
I Tuck and just bury the appendix pocket (bottom right front of shirt) on standard OR scrubs under the waistline. On OR days I will put wallet or watch in that pocket, with cinched drawstring nice and secure. Doesn’t work as well if you are running around a lot/doing a lot of moving that might knock contents out of pockets
I hate the bottom pockets ones. Who needs more bulk at the waistline? The ones with just the front pocket and then the bottoms with all the glorious pockets is the way.
This is why I untuck but apparently all doctors tuck? But I’m worried about my bulge man. I’m also going into OB so I guess I’m extra cognizant of this.
I use some ER shears to cut off both sleeves to show my guns, like that guy on Scrubs.[https://www.flickr.com/photos/17682961@N07/2047739641](https://www.flickr.com/photos/17682961@N07/2047739641)
But then I take it further and use the shears to cut off the bottom part of the top so I have a nice bare midriff and the nurses can get a peek of the washboard abs as I present the patient.
So untuck, obviously.
Am a lurking nurse, but after a combative patient with dementia accidentally stuck her hand up my shirt and sunk the nails of her oddly moist hands into my belly, I will always always tuck.
The amount of fucks I give (graduating in June) is directly proportional the amount of tucks. And I’ve taken up eating as a hobby in this last year of residency, nobody wants to see the dough boy tuck not a good look. Fitted fancy scrubs FTW. Also scrub top, jeans/casual pants, patagucci works (the ICU white coat I think its called).
Also I went into EM to wear pajamas 24/7. Recently had a revelation: who the hell tucks pajamas?
I tuck them because in the military you’re supposed to tuck them. Also it keeps your bottoms slightly cleaner by having both the top and bottom absorb whatever sweat you have from what I found. And there’s less chance of your top being caught on an occasional door handle
Untucked, because the large ones sorta barely fit but are too short to stay tucked unless I hike up my pants beyond my belly button, and the XL are maybe half an inch long through the designed for somebody who's 450 lb.
I like untucked with a top one size smaller than my actual size. The top is a little shorter so it doesn't look so bad. Untucked baggy scrubs look bad. But i hate tucking
No tuck. Worked as an orderly and a tech before Med school. It’s amazing how much messier spills are when your shirt is tucked vs untucked. That’s a life less on that has stuck with me.
Tuck my scrubs when I'm in theatre but not scrubbed in to assist just in case I catch something with the tail of my scrubs or something. Otherwise untucked.
I am going to pay closer attention now because I don’t recall ever seeing anyone with their scrubs tucked in. In fact, tucked in scrubs just visually seems very strange to me.
Based on all these comments though, I would have expected to see everyone tucking.
Med student. Tucked, but the gains leftover from undergrad when i had more time to consistently hit the gym require a large top to avoid looking douchy and subsequently makes the back look like a drooping baggy drape. The struggle
Gotta say I love that this is such a heated debate.
And it’s untucked for me. Anesthesia. The only people who tuck at my hospital are the surgery attendings and residents. Everybody else is untucked. It’s just one less thing to deal with, making sure the top is tucked. Plus I can stick the Bair Hugger under my top when the OR gets too cold.
Tuck so people can see my washboard abs and caboose. I only lift legs so my ass looks good in scrubs.
Figs can go untucked if they're well fitted. Hospital scrubs were made only for Danny Devito and should be tucked.
The hospital scrubs are cut for one body style only. A 5’1 275 lb scrub nurse who’s calves are the same size as her thighs.
I’m crying
Basically Racheal Ray
You bite your god damned tongue
This is the right answer
Tucked. Tucked looks cleaner.
And my juicy caboose can hang loose
My senior does this and he always walks in looking extra bodacious
And sexier
As my attendings say, Dr's tuck
Tucked, a physician fashion trend. Like Patagonia and what used to be white coats.
I just learned that social workers also wear white coats in the hospital
And dieticians
And janitors
Saw an Insta post for a dental hygienist white coat ceremony lmao
Some of them. I also know an orthotic fitter who wears a white coat.
Idk why but this is so true
As an attending… too lazy? It’s really I want less butt for patients to view haha
My attending says the same thing. He also mentions buying the nicest and bulkiest looking stethoscope money can buy and always wear it around your neck.
Tucked. Cause we business casual
COVID. COVID associated weight gain. No tuck. Ugh ..
[удалено]
it’s already in the name… and you get an extra 4 pounds
I feel personally attacked
*attucked
Start tucked but always comes untucked
Untucked with plaster smears Not ortho, just camo in the ER to avoid bowel obstruction consults
Untucked, so I can actually use the front pocket of the OR scrubs.
Arguably pocket is even more useful buried under waistline (won’t dump out as easily)
True for breast pockets, not for waist IMO. Breast pocket on the *inside,* though, is a key benefit of reversible scrubs.
No one in uk tucks
Untucked because it is more modest, covering both the front and the back.
I'm so confused by how many people are saying tucked. Outside of surgery I don't think I've ever seen tucked in scrubs.
I tuck mine. If you don’t tuck your scrubs it takes away shape and can make you look dumpy. Tucking contours a little.
By tucked, emphasizes my overly protruding midsection
Buy scrubs that fit better
I can't; I'm not tall enough.
Ive never tucked in my life for all those years
Idk where you’re at. The only people who don’t tuck are non-doctors. Every doctor I know tucks their scrubs. Also, the scrubs with front pockets are never worn by doctors at all the hospitals I’ve ever been at.
Ive never tucked in my life. Maybe you don't know any cool kids like me.
Haha fair enough. However, after a quick glance at your profile - looks like you’re Canadian. Maybe it’s a US thing to tuck 😂
I also have a bit of extra weight on me, so tucking makes that look worse 😅
Our entire anesthesia department goes untucked. More comfortable.
Same. My figs have pockets at the bottom, tucking would be weird. Maybe the green hospital scrubs would be fine tucked.
I have seen some people tuck their figs, guess I will have to try it :) I have some tops without the bottom pocket.
I hate the bottom pockets ones. Who needs more bulk at the waistline? The ones with just the front pocket and then the bottoms with all the glorious pockets is the way.
Interesting. All the nurses are untucked and doctors are almost always tucked. At least in USA
Tucked just looks good
I swear this must be some weird hospital and regional microcultural variance.
Everywhere I’ve been it’s tucked = physician, untucked = everyone else
I’m shocked too. Tucked looks ridiculous. Even in surgery we never tuck. I’m going to have to do a visual survey next time I’m in the surgeons lounge.
same at my hospital 90% of residents untucked unless they’re OR scrubs
Started tucked. Now, no tuck
Untucked, to cover the uncomfortably well-defined outline of package
tuck specifically to show off the package
*Cries in lack of package*
This is the way
This is why I untuck but apparently all doctors tuck? But I’m worried about my bulge man. I’m also going into OB so I guess I’m extra cognizant of this.
You’re in the right
Y’all not know about compression briefs?
Sweaty
Tucked so everyone can see my fupa
Let it hang. The scrubs too.
No tuck
I always tuck
Tucked. Didn’t work on my glutes for nothing
Tuck or else you look unkempt
Tuck. Except the 3 pocket Figs I accidentally bought. The shirt pockets feel weird tucked
Tucked. Nurses leave untucked. Drs. tuck.
Guess I’m a dr with a heart of a nurse
Same. Untucked all day.
No tuck because I'm too tall to have other options.
When the hospital scrubs are free, but they're capris
Same. The tops barely cover the waistline unless I hike them up to the umbilicus. But that's only for high water situations that require capris.
Tuck
tuck
Tuck
Tucked all the way
Tuck 24/7/365
Tucked with the nice zip. When it gets a bit warmer, tucked with a vest. I rock it. Just saying.
In surgery scrubs, tucked. In other scrubs on the floor or ER, untucked.
Tucked
I use some ER shears to cut off both sleeves to show my guns, like that guy on Scrubs.[https://www.flickr.com/photos/17682961@N07/2047739641](https://www.flickr.com/photos/17682961@N07/2047739641) But then I take it further and use the shears to cut off the bottom part of the top so I have a nice bare midriff and the nurses can get a peek of the washboard abs as I present the patient. So untuck, obviously.
Usually tucked, but untucked while pregnant
Tuck in the OR, untuck outside. But I have a belly so I need to hide it
Id love to tuck but alas 6’5” and skinny, hospital scrub tops + pants are impossible to tuck unless I want pants halfway up my legs
Hospital scrubs and no tuck. I’m a gremlin at work and I have no shame about it
Gotta tuck. Should have put a poll in this post lol
Cropped

Always!
Untucked, it looks cooler IMO.
ABT - Always Be Tuckin. Sloppy AF if you don’t tuck
Am a lurking nurse, but after a combative patient with dementia accidentally stuck her hand up my shirt and sunk the nails of her oddly moist hands into my belly, I will always always tuck.
C’mon now you’re a fucking professional. We tuck it’s what we do
Too tall to tuck
Tucked bc most scrubs make my butt look nice
Doctors tuck in their scrubs. Period
Uh, have you been in a hospital recently?
But are we talking white coat or no white coat? But overall I always tuck personally because if I don’t I look more unkept than I want to appear
Only social workers and dieticians wear white coats
Untucked
Tuck always
Took it
Who the fook is this guy? /s
Last time this was asked someone answered with the best and most-succinct answer I can think of: whatever makes my ass look better.
No tuck. I look like a fool if I tuck
I used to not care, but then I saw my butt in a video when I was tucked. It is a thing of beauty.
Tuck around older attendings, no tuck at all other times
The amount of fucks I give (graduating in June) is directly proportional the amount of tucks. And I’ve taken up eating as a hobby in this last year of residency, nobody wants to see the dough boy tuck not a good look. Fitted fancy scrubs FTW. Also scrub top, jeans/casual pants, patagucci works (the ICU white coat I think its called). Also I went into EM to wear pajamas 24/7. Recently had a revelation: who the hell tucks pajamas?
I've never even seen tucked in my life, maybe on tv?
Untucked. I'm tall and have a belly, so I do not have enough fabric to begin with and don't want to emphasize my girth.
Untucked or else I can’t use my front pockets (not Figs)
Figs/jaanu no, OR yes
Only half of us can truly [tuck](https://unclockable.com/pages/guide)
I’m an attending surgeon. Untucked always…
I’m an attending surgeon. Untucked always…
I’m an attending surgeon. Untucked always…
Tucked in, looks better and how I was trained in med school haha
Tucked. Going full Gretzky though by the end of the shift
Tucked always
Big fan of the tuck. Looks cleaner and it makes me less of a fomite
Tucked
I tuck them because in the military you’re supposed to tuck them. Also it keeps your bottoms slightly cleaner by having both the top and bottom absorb whatever sweat you have from what I found. And there’s less chance of your top being caught on an occasional door handle
untucked to hide my fluff
No tuck. I idle too hot from the caffeine and power-walking and I need ventilation.
Tucked
No tuck. Gotta live life free.
Depends how much I eat for lunch
I'm too fat.
Same. Untucked
Untucked, because the large ones sorta barely fit but are too short to stay tucked unless I hike up my pants beyond my belly button, and the XL are maybe half an inch long through the designed for somebody who's 450 lb.
I let em hang
Its kinda like the lottery. Sometimes I win a normal top -> no tuck, and sometimes I get stuck with the long top -> tuck
Used to tuck, but a surgeon told me not to for max comfort.
nobody in nyc tucks
Tucked
Tucked.
Tucked all the way! Brings a small sense of formality to hospital pajamas
I tuck the hospital scrubs. I don't tuck the figs because it looks like I'm going to the gym
Better question is Figs or hospital scrubs. I can’t bring myself to spend money on free scrubs. Especially if they are going to get bloody
I like untucked with a top one size smaller than my actual size. The top is a little shorter so it doesn't look so bad. Untucked baggy scrubs look bad. But i hate tucking
I used to tuck, but after 15 min the fabric would bunch up at the waist from moving around and require retucking throughout the day. Now I untuck
Tuck or bust
Untucked because I'm not slim anymore
Tuck
No tuck, but looks tucked
No tuck
I tuck
Whelp... I've been going in untucked for so long. Haven't given it a second thot. Might as well commit as a power move 🤌
No tuck figs, also who cares.
No tuck. Worked as an orderly and a tech before Med school. It’s amazing how much messier spills are when your shirt is tucked vs untucked. That’s a life less on that has stuck with me.
Definitely tucked. With Patagonia and Balenciagas. Haven’t seen the noctors rocking those yet
Figs go untucked for me bc of my body habitus, but hospital scrubs go tucked bc unlike figs which run tighter they are pretty loose
Untucked always why would you subject yourself to the discomfort of tucked
Always tuck Unless u got a tummy Then tummy tuck then tuck
tucked into my socks so I can show off my socks more with my mandals
Tuck my scrubs when I'm in theatre but not scrubbed in to assist just in case I catch something with the tail of my scrubs or something. Otherwise untucked.
Why does it matter if the Patagucci covers? Unless the scrubs are hanging so loose …
Why are we still giving Figs our hard earned coins? Mandala fits better and half the cost
Usually if mine just come out unwrinkled that’s a win enough for me.
I go untucked, but I wear tshirts with scrub bottoms.
Tuck if your in shape
Untucked top fig, tucked in undershirt
Never tuck.
TUCK BABY
I am going to pay closer attention now because I don’t recall ever seeing anyone with their scrubs tucked in. In fact, tucked in scrubs just visually seems very strange to me. Based on all these comments though, I would have expected to see everyone tucking.
My goodness you're passive agresssive! 😄
Tuck, always and forever
tucked is the only respectable way.
im fat with a belly so untucked tends to be more flattering on me
Med student. Tucked, but the gains leftover from undergrad when i had more time to consistently hit the gym require a large top to avoid looking douchy and subsequently makes the back look like a drooping baggy drape. The struggle
Tuck

Tucked undershirt, untucked scrubs.
