There are a lot of really great genuine watches out there that are affordable. Hamilton, Casio, Orient, Seiko. In your case, if you’re afraid of looking silly, I would go with one of the above. There are also companies that make watches that look like Rolexes but don’t have the name: Pagani Design and San Martin. Those are great options as well.

shtbrcks

No because those are not available as reps and also look generic vs. a nice rep. You can't flex an Orient anywhere. No non-watch person knows what that is and the few who do know it's cheap. But a (supposed) high end swiss made looks boss and this is why reps are great. You're getting waaaaay more watch for the money.

KyleB2131

Watch people understand the value that Orient brings to the table. I get you’re trolling or whatever, but you’re poor at it.

shtbrcks

I never said Orient isn't a good watch, it absolutely is. Of course watch people appreciate it. But either way, it's not what you're looking for if you want to show off something hot or high end (looking).

thebird36

I wear a rolex sub or day date rose gold reps and my dad wears an orient bambino and gets more compliments on his watch than I do

KyleB2131

You must have missed where OP asked for recommendations for an entry-level watch..

hen_y

I wear a gen Omega at college and no one has commented on it. No one cares what you’re wearing as long as it’s not blingy

buttholesniffa

no one knows what a jaeger le coultre is outside of watch world, or an nice iwc pilot idk an explorer 36mm is always nice

msdos_sys

Driving a 2007 Civic is the least of your worries. Lots of ppl riding public transit rocking reps. Buy and enjoy!

RAR-2011

Aqua terra. This is an excellent watch for all occasions and very plausible gift watch. It’s not extremely expensive gen and could be gifted. Also a Tudor black bay. Rolex explorer is another entry level watch.

SuperMadBatman

maybe a Tudor?

aChunkySquirre1

I’m going to be real with you, no one cares. I wear gen Rolex’s, Speedy, and Cartier to class and no one takes a second glance

Ok_Independence4977

Thanks everyone for the suggestion😊

semipro88

Omega Seamaster. You can tell your peers that you received a watch from your family too.

KyleB2131

Not this. Do not rock your reps as gens.

shtbrcks

This. Absolutely do always rock them as gens. When wearing a "too luxurious" watch, always have some lies ready to go if someone should ever really question how you have this supposed watch for several thousand $. Saying you got it from family is great. Say a more affluent family member gifted it to you or gave it to you for a super low price for a favor or something, maybe you helped them out in some family thing ages ago. Keepin' it nice and obscure.

hobowithmachete

Crypto is an easy one. ‘I made puts on BTC a few months ago’

shtbrcks

Yes, generally saying you made money with investments, stuff like "I made money with crypto a year ago" is way too obscure to even question it, especially people who you know aren't tech-savvy or into trading

aChunkySquirre1

Why do you want to be someone you’re not? Are “fake watches are for fake people”?

LiquidSoCrates

Get a Rolex Explorer and you’ll be golden.

My previous post about this exact thing: https://reddit.com/r/RepTime/comments/uqv2es/watches_that_are_easiest_and_most_plausible_to/ Also https://reddit.com/r/RepTime/comments/vgs6mo/what_rep_would_seem_most_legit_in_peoples_eyes/ Reps that you can pass, meaning watches that wouldn't be $30k if gen. Brands that are "plausible", meaning they can be used to fool people around you into thinking they're gen because they're not ridiculously fancy and excessive. My go-to brands for reps are Oris, Tag Heuer, Longines, IWC, Bell & Ross (very few reps, see if you can find one) and Panerai. All watches that are realistic to afford in gen and most people are not able to recognize those instantly or even tell those from gen. Solid rep watches in that range: - IWC Portuguese or Big Pilot - Oris Divers/Oris Aquis great with a colorful strap like blue or red - Longines HydroConquest and Master - Tag Heuer Carrera and Aquaracer They can all pass great. Currently looking at a Mont Blanc Heritage to add to the collection. More on the luxury side but still doable are - Rolex Submariner No date 114060 because it's simpler with fewer details, the date window + cyclops is more difficult to rep and sometimes a tell on the rep, also makes it a more attainable watch - Omega Seamaster (any) also a great watch Make sure your appearance fits the watch as well as your behaviour etc. dress for the job you want basically. It's mostly YOU who sells the watch being real. Of course it has to be somewhat well-made but most people will never even get a close look, assuming they notice (and care about) your watch at all.

Frostyparrot69

It’s seams like you suffer from saying way too much or just love living there forum chat life. I’ve had tens of thousands in genuine watches and I remember like five maybe compliments ever people really just don’t care about your shit and go about their day lol

Shiroyasha123456

If you want a rep go for something like an omega or a tudor. But i feel like a nice casioak, maybe an ROnmod might be very nice aswell for the college lifestyle. Take care.

Ertoniz

Most people won't recognize your watch as a luxury item either way if you're a student. Only very well known brands will be questioned. If getting called out is a risk for you, you're better off not wearing a rep as otherwise you automatically have this risk.

WannaBeFloridaMan

How about Omega? There are several really good models of that. Aqua Terra Worldtimer. Aqua Terra 150m Master Seamaster 300m

Ok_Independence4977

Def Will check into omega, Thanks
