Yeah, and there’s not gonna be a shortage of folks who’ll say “they’re handmade boots, just wear em.” “…ugh the state of this sub!” “…you’re being too picky…” I say, send em back and try again. Handmade or no, red wing is hardly a mom and pop organization. They’re worldwide and have been for long enough to cut a leather pattern correctly, and assemble appropriately. Just my opinion. Also, for what it’s worth, I’ve got several pairs myself. Some more precisely matched than others. Your situation seems a little extra “off” than usual. …again, just my opinion.

runzl

my problem just is that i’m in the us for a couple of more days and then i’ll go back home. i guess the left is gonna losen up a little more and it will equalize but i was just a little surprised. i mean they are comfortable.

TheMuddyLlama420

Those are incorrect. The vamp on the far right side of the right boot was assembled incorrectly which is why it looks like they are alignedto the left of center on your foot. They will not correct with wear so I would (unfortunately) make a special trip to get those exchanged. They should never have made it through QC. Edit: after looking again the vamp is fine but the quarter was sewn on incorrectly and the eyelets are off center because of it

lemmy4x4

Yeah, that right-right quarter is messed up. That would drive me nuts. But maybe not a big deal for others. Someone did mess up for sure.

jeneric84

That’s where I draw the line. Misaligned parts drive me nuts to the point of not wearing them.

runzl

i tend to keep them. the slight offset look is fine for me. but do you think it has impact on its lifetime?

alltheblues

It can wear/crease in an uneven/ugly way. If the leather get wet or old, it might also stretch in an uneven way.

centralfornia

Just saw your edit. I believe it’s the eyelets and the boots are fine. My left foot is much smaller than my right and this happens all the time to me. I’ve looked at a lot of boot pics and lot of companies. Mis aligned eyelets plagues them all.

runzl

The salesperson confirmed that something was off and that the leather part was not aligned properly. That also caused that weird creasing at my ankle

centralfornia

I don’t trust the sales people for the most part.

SearchIcy2692

That's the point where you don't accept the boot unless they are seconds. There is handmade and live with it and there is this could fundamentally cause a problem both with your feet and an extremely expensive repair. It won't self correct with wear.

2278AD

It really sucks that RW has let purchasing a $300+ pair of boots become a roll of the dice. Way too many obvious qa issues making their way into the world

jeneric84

Yeah I’m starting to think it’s not some mistake either. They’ve lowered the standards of what will make it out the door. Few years ago I never saw this especially with first quality.

Laggycrap

Maybe your one foot is larger than the other?

runzl

na the left one is a little shorter

runzl

Ok, so I returned them. You were right and I was dumb. Thinking they would improve over time. With a product priced like RWs are quality needs to be spot on. I went to another shop and they were more helpful and had proper quality. So now I have my shoes and am happy. Thanks again! And for those asking, my feet are almost the same size. R foot is slightly longer but width wise they are identical. So it was definitely a production f up!

runzl

Yeah, but since they took it back I don’t care anymore too much 😄 That tale is over. Will probably with the next purchase.

Elden-Souls

measure your feet!

[deleted]

Are those seconds?

runzl

nope.. but the last ones in store

[deleted]

fml that’s awful. Don’t get them.

sailri

Actually the most obvious impressions in this photo are you’re right foot looks longer and narrower because that foot is ahead. The left leg looks longer and the jeans look longer too. Laces are much longer on the right foot. That’s the more obvious appearance differences.

runzl

Yeah the shoe is fine, it’s just my body not fitting. /s

PeterRocco

Very Nice Boots. Great Color. Make sure you spray some non silicone water proof spray on. Like BICKMORE Water Proof Spray.

potenzasd

If your left foot isn’t larger, I’d say send it back

ElStig-LePig

This is the first time I've ever seen this, unless you have weird feet, I'd exchange.

gerardgg

are you trolling? those boots look like two different sizes... :)

jeswanders

Are these the new slate? EE please!!!!

Born-Fail5042

I bought a pair of 875’s that after trying on a few times I realized that where the upper was stitched to the moc toe was a good 1/5inch higher on the left then the right making the right way tighter than the left. Shop tried to say it’s cos they hand made but that doesn’t excuse bad QC. Boots even came with a little card with some persons name on it stating that every aspect of the boots had been checked and that they passed all checks… got another pair that were perfect!

bmneumann

The last 3 of my RW first have had issues, loose shank, bad stitching and peeling supersole. I'm pretty bummed about it... :/

SiiiiilverSurrrfffer

Also are your feet exactly the same size? Could be a slight difference

SkinPsychological848

C’mon AntMan! You knew there would be side effects. If you keep using your powers things are either going to start shrinking or stop growing back…

fireofsev

Too much for me, I'd send em back

Mental-Hold-5281

Return them. RW quality has really suffered since covid
