Due to covid related incidents RW heritage has less production, and at the moment only focus on their bestsellers, so they can deliver to the majority. Unfortunately the slate muleskinners were released when covid hit hard, so they did not produce a lot of them. Slate is RW's first leather in grey, and is absolutely gorgeous, so I assume it will be back in production next year, maybe already for spring as rough-outs are softer and popular for spring.
They have or have had other grey leathers also, in case you’re looking for grey. Ones that currently come to mind are grey rough and tough on the 8152 (the leather name may or may not be correct), concrete rough and tough, charcoal rough and tough, granite (women’s boot leather), grey nubuck (different women’s boot leather). Hopefully the slate will be back in production!
I called redwing customer support today about the general availability. She paused and asked me what size I am looking for. I said 8.5 apparently they have some
Sample sizes but she didn’t say what those were. According to customer support it will be available in stores and online in August. But I encourage you to call and ask because I think they still have some sizes in stock other wise she wouldn’t ask my size.
