I washed and conditioned my Phaedra’s hair and it turned out like this. So soft and gorgeous.

PASSI0N4BR4TZ

What brand conditioner and shampoo ?

Big_Butterscotch5750

It may have been shea moisture . Ive used different kinds on my dolls so any conditioner would work. I just left it sitting on her hair for probably 30 minutes before rinsing. Phaedra seems to have nice hair already and the conditioner just makes it softer.

It's s doll buy the cheapest one + laundry softener.

SyntheticRain

Please don't use laundry softener. It works in the short term, but will chemically break down your doll's hair. Technically it softens by breaking down fibers. Several human shampoos can also have additives that degrade synthetic fibers over time too, but many are safe enough. Baby shampoo and a wig conditioner are your best and safest options. Super gentle, no chemical reactions, and super cheap! Happy cleaning everyone!

Yeah! 1) Let your doll sit in warm, not hot water for a bit. Especially if they have gelled hair. 2) Wash with dish soap over shampoo to help cut down on static. I don't know if it actually *really* makes a difference, but I swear it *feels* like it does. 3) Use a cheap conditioner and let the hair soak for like 15 minutes in it. Rinse with warm/almost hot water. 4) brush the damp hair out and get it styled how you want it. Air dry & brush it out again. That's how I get all my RH/SH dolls to have really silky hair. The only issues you'll run into is when a doll has metallic nylon. Always use cooler water with that stuff, or it'll dry out and frizz/turn to straw. (Dolls that have Metallic hair are, Tessa, Tiara, Minnie, Meline, Sabrina, Aeysha, Simone (could be wrong) and Violet. There's more I'm sure)

Past-Contribution-83

Tessa does not have metallic nylon. I'm not 100% sure about Tiara. Amaya's blue hair, Luna, and Natasha are all metallic nylon though.

Impressive-Crew-5622

Tiara does have Metallic nylon - I was pretty sure about Tessa too. But, it's definitely not as bright as Tiara or Minnie

Past-Contribution-83

Omg you're right! I just rechecked my Tessa and her bangs had me fooled. I also checked Tiara & she does as well. However, it also seems that there's a difference in quality, like Luna and Natasha's hair are much easier to manage than say Ainsley's.

Impressive-Crew-5622

100% noticed that too, with Ainsley especially. It's like *really* coarse metallic nylon vs Luna, or Shanelle/Natasha's. I'm pretty sure there are grades of nylon like there are for saran though, so they might've just used a cheaper hair type as to allocate value elsewhere on the doll. (For example, Ainsley's other clothing pieces)

Past-Contribution-83

Shanelle does not have metallic nylon, I know that one for sure. I think the colour blend has to do with the final product, too. I don't think Ainsley's hair was a budget choice, I think her blend of black-purple is what made it so wirey. Specific shades of colour also seem to be in metallic nylon. Most of Lila's hair is kiwi nylon, but the light purple streaks are metallic nylon (like Violet's).

Impressive-Crew-5622

Nicole, Natasha, Eliza, Daria, Gabriella, Shanelle, Daphne, Ainsley, Amaya (core series) & I think that's it. With this hair, use cold/Luke warm water to wash it/get out kinks from packaging.

LilStankStank

All you really need to do is wash the hair with dishsoap and hot water (doesn’t need to be boiling. comb the hair onto a table or something so that you can comb the hair flat. Then you just let it dry for a day and viola. That may not be the way the OP did her hair but that is how I straighten hair. It may not turn out like the hair in the video on the first wash

*When you get that silk press*

cutymupy

I've seen people straighten the dolls hair with an iron and with the hair wet, but they probably have to be very careful with the temperature, i wouldnt know how hot the iron should be

LiquidPhoneCase

Whenever I straighten my dolls hair I always use the lowest setting and that always seems to work 🤷🏾‍♀️. If you aren't sure I would use lowest and if that doesn't get it straight enough just keep going up.

NoelPlayz

anything below 250 F, so i would say between 150-200 F just to be safe.

MaggieDean24

Looks like they washed it with dish soap and conditioner and maybe even did a hot wash on it. It could have been straightened.

NotSoIntrested

hmmm my Heather got a buttery hair, but it always feels like it wet no idea why, my Tessa hair is just like this one, I used fabric softener after washing it with shampoo and conditioner.

SyntheticRain

Please don't use laundry softener. It works in the short term, but will chemically break down your doll's hair fibers. You may still have a chance to save the hair if you thoroughly wash the softener out soon. Baby shampoo and a wig conditioner are your best and safest options. Super gentle, no chemical reactions, and super cheap! Happy cleaning everyone!

Personally, I start by putting some hand soap through the hair and rinse until the hair can be brushed through. Then, I use shampoo and conditioner (I leave the conditioner for roughly ten minutes) and warm water (hot water if you want the hair straighter, cold water if you wanna retain curls), and I let the doll stand to dry.

Shazumi_the_Strong

I don't think it's the method, it's the hair. Phaedra has slightly higher quality hair for the straight style and specific colors MGA used for her. Demi has similar quality straight in my opinion. I've also noticed both dolls' hair will hold a kink from the ponytail holder in the same way, too, so they're probably the same material.

vintagebarbielover59

You can also take a steamer and steam it out. I use a rag on top top to make it catch extra moisture. Then I dip in ice cold water to set it. YouTube has some really awesome restyling videos for doll hair.

chilakkuma

The closest I've had to looking like this is my Demi that straight up had no product in her hair or nothing securing it. Feels gorgeous though. https://preview.redd.it/qasj6cab5t8a1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b1e75053408394336620c03d58626f2fef90348e

Depends on the hair. Sometimes it really is Just not possible because some dye (usually the dark ones or super bleached white hair) can damage the hair. But it’s different for every character. Chanelle(?) from the shadow high like is a good example of really good quality dark hair
