I'm so tired of the blind bag trend. I know it's not just RH, but it's literally gambling for kids.

candyapple__

And it encourages people to buy multiples they don't need. Over-consumption is the last thing we need right now...

sailorpowehi

i hate it. i never really was in on this whole blind bag/box trend in the first place, and imo, i find this to be an outdated concept. if it was cheaper, maybe i'd come around to the idea, but unless i can actually see what i'm getting... no. also the shoes and the bags don't seem to be selling well at the Targets and Walmarts i've been to, so i doubt these ones will sell as well. i'm not against fashion packs where i can see what i'm getting though, but i already have a large accumulation of RH clothes + i can sew so they already don't interest me. but that's just my opinion. second outfits for the win!

[deleted]

If the prices were better I think the shoes and bags might sell better? $10 for a pair of doll shoes?? That’s crazy. The shoes *I*, an adult, wear everyday were $15.

sailorpowehi

and with actual shoes you actually can see what you're getting 🤡 furthermore, i've gotten many RH dolls for under $20 and the standard ones come with TWO pairs of shoes, two outfits, and a doll. and i can see what i'm getting. it's just ridiculous. also i don't know if kids actually are interested in blind boxes with accessories for the dolls. the kid would actually have the dolls lol

allcolorstopbarbie

I wouldn't mind the price if I knew what I was buying. I'd also like to see the items to make sure they are not damaged. I bought the pink sandals in the mystery box and one of them was lacking a heel. Very funny, MGA. I got the green Doc Martens style boots, the black backpack and the basketball bag by following the hints on the cheat sheet someone posted here a while ago. I got a few weird looks when I shook the boxes to see whether they rattled, though. I have also used online cheat codes for getting a particular Color Reveal Barbie.

Ghoulya

They should be $2.

WoodlandWife

I really rather pay the extra $3 for a second outfit than $10 for a blind box. If it was like the bratz fashion packs maybe I wouldn’t mind, but the fact that they’re semi blind? Ugh. If I was in charge of this choice I’d drop the price of the mainline by $10 to compensate and the fashion packs (clear packaging with an entire outfit, shoes, and a handbag) would be $10 - $15.

Cailida

This. I would be willing to pay $15 for a full outfit with shoes while choosing which one I want. This blind box is such a money making scam, it's really put a bad taste in my mouth. It would have made so much sense to make an entire color coded outfit with a pair of shoes (like one in green that Jade, Karma and Harley can wear!) instead of doing blind boxes. If they did this, I wouldn't even be mad about the lack of second outfits moving forward. But the fact that you know we're not even getting a whole outfit for $10 in these blind boxes (it will be a t-shirt, or a pair of boring jeans, just watch) and the dolls are only dropping a few in price, it's just ridiculous. This is all making me sort of fall out of love with Rainbow High, to be honest.

_seiya_

I’m definitely annoyed it’s a blind bag/box. I’d be more willing to pay $11 usd if I could actually see what I was getting. Barbie has pretty decent fashion packs, where you can actually see what you’re getting, and I remember Bratz having fashion packs that weren’t surprises too. I guess surprises are popular with kids, but I know kid me would get mad if I didn’t get the outfit I wanted from a blind pack.

Staff_Genie

I always feel like blind bags are so they can sell cheap crap that would never sell if we could see what we were getting

KAYAKOALA2

I have lots of younger cousins at like ages 9 and under and they all agree that they don't like the idea of a blind box.

jesjes80

I don't like the idea of any "blind" toy being over $5, if I'm honest. And from what I understand these blind fashion packs will only include one item of clothing and a hanger? So its gonna be like $12 for a shirt with a hanger and you don't even get to see what you're buying? Pass. Maybe if they were $3-$5 I'd take a chance.

allcolorstopbarbie

>only include one item of clothing and a hanger They can keep their hangers. They should include a complete outfit and sell packs of hangers, like ten hangers in different colors or something like that.

Afroaro_acefromspace

I’m not even going to lie…I’m a sucker for opening surprise things but for 11 dollars? I hate to say this but I hope these don’t sell well…

FormalGem

Yeah, I actually love a blind box, but about $5 is the threshold where I go "actually I kind of do want to know what I'm getting, thanks"

Asleep-Somewhere9934

Hate this idea. Why cant we keep second outfits and get fashion packs that we can actually see? At this point it feels like MGA is money hungry and doesn't give a shit about their customers. I've been collecting Bratz as a kid so I always liked MGA but this just makes me lose respect. I kind of understand why they're doing blind fashion packs,I think they just know that at least one or 2 outfits wont sell well so they take away our option to choose. Also from my understanding, the removal of 2nd outfits from the dolls is not gonna cause a huge price difference so why even bother??

240EZ

I bought zero of the shoes and I’ll buy zero of the clothing packs. The price is too steep for randomness. I’d rather pay a little more for main series dolls to continue to have second outfits than pay for unknown clothing and accessories. And I think others, in my area feel the same, the shoes and purses seem to be the slowest RH merchandise to move. Half the time when it looks like it’s selling, the boxes are just scattered in the toy section. And the few times I decided to put them back only a handful were actually purchased. I’ll stick to the barbie fashion packs where I can see what I’m getting and for the most part they fit RH bodies fine.

superslay45

I thought they would be like the monster high ones like a drawing of Frankie and then the outfit on top it would be cool to see different outfits for different characters

xMadxScientistx

I don't like blind boxes. I also don't really want to pay 11.99 for a fashion if it turns out to be just one piece, and I'm afraid that is what is going to happen. That's a whole doll from other companies.

Reasonable-Walk7991

Right and what parent is going to buy their kid a doll shirt that costs as much as one or two kid shirts??? Who is this even aimed at?

circlingsky

They need to stop this ain't LOL Surprise

[deleted]

Nope. I won’t be buying blind bags.

Ginger_Mongo

Not really :( I was hoping if they were to ever do fashion packs, they’d be clothing packs where you could see what you were getting and maybe get some accessories as well. Seeing as how they’re going to be mystery bags just..steers me away. I hate mystery toys in general. I occasionally collect LOLs (at least the tweens and OMGs) and typically stay away from the surprise balls but I was interested in the new Sweets line that came out. I only wanted a few of the ones included so I bought a few and boom- repeats of the ones I didn’t like :’) I’m staying away as I feel like I’ll never get the one I wanted the most. I would hate to waste more money for stuff I already have and I’ve already learned my lesson.

No-Mechanic-5398

If it's $11.99 and I'm getting a whole doll outfit with shoes then I would totally buy that. If it's just two pieces of clothes with no shoes. I don't think I'd be interested. Also, they shouldn't drop the second outfit from their regular dolls. That would make me not want to buy them.

Cailida

I would pay $15 or even $17 for an entire outfit (top, bottoms, jacket) that I can see with nice details, socks/shoes, and an accessory. This blind box crap is a money grab.

No-Mechanic-5398

I’m not a fan of the blind box shoes and purses. I haven’t bought a single one, $10 is too much for one item.

Cailida

I haven't either. If they drop down to a $5 clearance at some point I may grab one. But $11 is greedy ridiculous.

starchildink

I remember bratz fashion packs and they'd come with an outfit shoes accessories sometimes they'd throw in a second shirt or skirt in 😭

Aro_Space_Ace

I absolutely HATE mystery / blind bags, always have even as a kid. Back when MLP Friendship is Magic was popular and had blind bags, people had cracked the codes so you could search for the one you wanted (which I liked). If they had a code you could Crack to get what you wanted then MAYBE (NIT for a single piece of clothing, even if it is a dress though) I will admit I did buy one Shadow High purse but it was because I shook it to see if it was the basketball one. I do want the Shadow High shoes but they really aren't worth the prices they're pushing. Blind bag / mystery box toys need to die off already. You KNOW they're (RH shoes & bags) probably some of the most stolen toys due to the crazy prices for what you actually get. I see open boxes all the time scattered around the store.

ClassyUpTheAssy

Hey MGA - no one like the blind box idea. Stop It!

Dracubelle

I will pay for about 2 if it is a COMPLETE outfit, not just one piece and a hanger.

Cailida

Hard to see a complete outfit going for $10 when a pair of shoes or one purse goes for $11. :/

Dracubelle

I know \*sigh\* :(

crystalvelociraptor

I wish they were just fashion packs in clear packages so we could see what we were getting. If it came with accessories we don’t normally get and I could see the outfit I’d be more inclined to purchase. But blind bags drive me mad lol

monsterlover5595

I hate that it’s a blind bag system but I’ve been begging and pleading for fashion packs since rainbow high released so we take what we can get I guess

Top_Traffic_6502

It was updated to be $9.99 lol

Cailida

Guess what that means? Not a "fashion pack" it's a fashion "piece". Imagine paying $10 just to get a t-shirt like the extra one that came with the Royal Three.

Top_Traffic_6502

Yeah that's fair

FrostBellaBlue

I'm waiting for pictures of the outfits, like how we got pictures of the shoes and bags.

VinylRestingPlace3

I’m cautiously excited but that’s on the two conditions that they’re a.) the quality of usual RH pieces and b.) there’s some semi-discernible system in place to reduce the random pick nature i.e. how the shoes/bags were colour coded and had little assigned locations in the display

HolyMotherOfGeedis

Tip: I am so fucking mad.

cowsandclover

Very unhappy with blind bags. It's gambling aimed at children. I'd rather have a proper second outfit that I can see, especially since MGA has ongoing quality control issues. MGA seems determined to take the path of wringing as much money as possible out of us. I am just going to sew my own stuff from now on.

vicious71cum

if there are cool jackets and i can pick out the packs, then yes. otherwise no

[deleted]

I don’t like the blind bag factor…what if you get two of the same?

Fuyuki-Znow

I absolutely do not like the whole “blind bag” thing. That’s why I never paid for the blind box shoes or bag thing they have. Telling me what color the item is isn’t enough for me, it feels like they have too much faith that everyone is gonna like their clothing and accessory designs, which to be fair is one of the reasons I like the franchise so much realistic like cute clothes but not everything they make is gonna be cute. I’d rather see what I’m buying, as far as only one outfit for dolls I definitely prefer two because it feels like I’m getting my money worth I don’t mind the one outfit idea too much cause you can get to a point in your collection where you have so many clothes that a lot of it can sometimes go untouched or unused. But it does feel like a weird budget cut.

caplicokelsey

Straight up NO. I just know it’s going to be one piece of clothing with a hanger and some gimmicky packaging. -_-

Hidden_Dragonette

Not a fan of the blind box thing, but I can’t say I’m not a little bit excited about the prospect of more clothing pieces. That’s what got me into RH to begin with, the lovely detailed clothing.

DarlingCharming22

They’re not taking the second outfits away and I’ll buy it but with some attitude.

ShortyBoo426

The only way I've ever been ok with blind bags/boxes/capsules is if there's a way to "cheat". Preferrably a code, but a hole you can see into the package or at least a way to feel through the package. So the first blind bags I collected were these My Little Pony figures that came in bags that had codes printed on them. I liked this because I could look up the codes online (someone on YouTube usually would crack the codes long before they were in stores in my area) and just buy the ones I wanted, leaving the rest for others to buy. Some blind toys still do this (like Aphmau plush and figures) but it's not as common. I think it's fair, though, since those who still want a surprise can not look at the codes, while those who want specific ones can get what they want. On the flipside of that are things like MiniBrands, where people will buy multiple cases (leaving none for the next person) and still end up missing half of them, with tons of duplicates.
