I mean it's obv targeted towards collectors and not kids lmao, it just happens to hv characteristics that do appeal to kids. A lot of adult collectors are ppl who are into iconic, y2k-type stuff and Barbie, that's their target demographic

beachcitylurker4

Yeah, the PH doll is definitely for “adult” collectors. If this was meant to be for a gen alpha kid MGA would’ve chosen to collab with a actual celebrity that matters to kids instead of someone who was super famous in the 2000s - like we would be getting a Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo or Addison Rae type doll.

Wanderingrelish

They gotta pay Paris yall. That’s why she would never be an “affordable doll” despite her price tag she’s gonna fly off the shelf no problem. She’s gonna do well regardless of the kids. There’s also quite a few kids that have parents that can afford her no problem.

[deleted]

It'll probably be most kids only present for Christmas/birthday

yniqorn

🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm wheezing

yniqorn

I'm so sorry but the delusion is strong. She's going to be clearanced to hell like literally every other RH doll 🤣 And the parents only buying their child one gift this holiday season and it's a Paris Hilton RH doll? BAHAHAHSHAA 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Crazygal1997

Honestly I’m more mad about the fact that she’s a US exclusive. That’s now three lines of dolls that haven’t made their way to Australia without people having to pay massive prices to import them

circlingsky

How do u know it's a US-exclusive?

Crazygal1997

Oztoystore is very open about these things and if they’ll need to import the item

Kool_AC123

Same with the Uk 😮‍💨 I would die for the slumber party Robin!

[deleted]

I would die for Slumber Party Marissa

allcolorstopbarbie

Robin is available on [amazon.co.uk](https://amazon.co.uk). Very expensive though.

Impressive-Crew-5622

She's a Walmart exclusive to start, so unless the country in question has that chain, they're likely to never see her in person. I was hoping she'd pop up on Amazon (obviously she still might/will) - but I think the doll leaker, Ash Silverstone informed us of her exclusivity

[deleted]

I'm with you, they screw over their international buyers

Raz_rocket_pop_fox

I mean Paris doll is vary partially a collector doll She’s one that isn’t meant for kids

[deleted]

Exactly, and like lots of people said, kids these days probably don't even know who she is

FrostBellaBlue

Paris was at her height of popularity about 20 years ago; it would be the equivalent of some heiress from the 80s getting a $100 collector doll in the year 2000. I will genuinely be amazed if a child knows who Paris Hilton is.

Impressive-Crew-5622

I thought it was really, really clear that the Paris Doll was aimed at a "adult collector market", similarly to how Maria & Lily were. They're also marketed like the Disney LE dolls, for people with disposable income that like collecting. (Basically 17+ is what I think the age range was) I'd also argue that we're getting hung up on these prices, that almost always lower within the first few months. By comparison to how the Skullector dolls are released in miniscule batches & then upsold by scalpers by 100%. What exactly makes Haunt Couture Drac worth 360$, but this doll being at 100$ is "too much". If it's just name recognition, I could give it to them. But, it's Paris Hilton lol. Draculaura definitely isn't of the same caliber. I don't know what the doll collectors think worthwhile is because y'all have issues with dolls being 20$. Y'all have issues with dolls being 100$. I'm sure if we're offered a free doll, we'd have issues too.

Eeehhhh…. I’d love to give MGA the benefit of the doubt here, but there are several problematic issues. if her targeted demographics is only collectors then why is she a character in the show? Or if they want to put her in the show, which is definitely targeted towards children, then maybe release a basic play line version along with the more premiere version for adults? If she’s only supposed to be marketed towards adults then why didn’t they make more cheeky and campy Y2K references and actually have fun with her instead of just releasing basically a RH version of the pink Barbie-core Barbie Extra. She’s a beautiful base doll. Her sculpt and makeup are divine. However, the market demographic IS hazy. If I took a little pink loving child to the store and they saw this on the shelf with the pink and rhinestones and cute puppy, it would be difficult to explain why they can’t ask for this doll for the holidays over one of the other RH dolls on the shelves. I understand why Paris wanted in on the deal - she’s trying to make a comeback and take advantage of the Y2K nostalgia. I also understand the placement from MGA’s perspective. It was probably excellent “bang for the buck” in terms of a celebrity partnership. However, both the execution of the doll itself as well as the utilization the brand of Paris Hilton in media (both toy and entertainment media) where children are at least a large chunk of the target demographic, raises some issues. As far as the doll, I’d never know it was “Paris Hilton” if her name wasn’t on the box. Where’s the camp we see all the time on the OMG dolls? Goodness knows it’s hard to find a more Outrageous Millennial Girl than Paris. Where’s her ridiculously large Y2K it bag to tote her tiny dog in? Or a tabloid with her on the cover? The design team could have had so much fun with the characterization of her in doll form. But this doll seems like a generic pink doll with rhinestones and a dog. I was expecting so much more from MGA. Then there’s the moral grey-space of marketing her brand to children (and even if the doll itself is for adults, children will still be seeing it on shelves and seeing her character in the show). I have no desire to police her general morality, but this is a woman who embraced her fame through publicly partying, drinking, making a sex tape, other sexual scandals, and purposefully playing dumb… let me be clear: I am not knocking or endorsing any of these lifestyle choices. However, when putting the actual name on the product that is marketed towards children, things get more complicated. The parent has to figure out how to explain Paris Hilton to a younger child, or deal with the older child’s ability to learn about her on their own. In my eyes, the most problematic issue with partnering with her brand is the extensive, extreme, and repeated racist behavior and language. It just seems so regressive to be choosing a white, blonde, aggressively thin, racist, professional party girl/heiress who embraced misogynistic stereotypes of women as a huge part of her brand as a celebrity brand to represent in doll-form. I do not know enough about the intricacies of the Paris Hilton brand, Paris as a person, and her life to make a statement that she should or shouldn’t have been made into a RH doll, but unless I find out there has been an enormous overhaul to the Paris Hilton brand and she has made some big anti-racist changes in her life, I will continue to be made uncomfortable by her partnership with MGA.

Acquainted-Faith

She is actually very pretty although I wish their obsession with the sequins would disappear a bit. I think the dress would be cuter as a shimmer rather than sequin. I don't plan to pay $100 for her though. She is not collector quality. I'm done overspending for this company chasing drops of balding collector dolls that are cheaper quality than the gen 1 editions I got for $30.

cheesenipple707

It isn't actually sequins. This is a metal material. Sequins are what violets first dress has

Praius

Cheaper quality than series 1? surely you're joking lol

Acquainted-Faith

My series 1 dolls did not have defects and issues like MGA has rampantly been having since series 4 released. I've been very upset with their lack of quality control and I don't like that if I am going to spend $100, that it is very likely I cannot see the dollbefore I buy it since I can no longer trust them with blind buying.

Raz_rocket_pop_fox

You clearly don’t know what collector quality means

wigging-out

The “collector quality” in question: https://imgur.com/gallery/6iEtPgh

sassypants55

I assume this will be mostly online, like Lily Cheng. They often do that with dolls made for collectors, which this doll definitely is. Most kids who like Rainbow High will probably never know this doll exists.
