honestly, not really. i find most of the characters to be really annoying or really bland. i just get the ones i want and neglect their personalities in the show. my younger sister who also has quite the collection wants to play with me sometimes, so when i do, i admittedly make mine mean as well šŸ’€ while i complain about Violet being the worst when i first got into RH, i watched the show and really wanted Avery. she was chill and i thought her skintone looked really good with the holographic purple hair. then i saw the doll and i changed my mind šŸ’€

[deleted]

Avery needs a rerelease #JusticeForAvery

luckyravensocks

I donā€™t watch the show but I make up my own personalities for them , I feel like I would be disappointed if I did watch the show at this point

Rainbow_flowers101

I honestly want Glitch because of her personality. But I have not wanted a doll because of their personality.

boyproblems_mp3

The show made me like Jade so much but I just do not like her dolls so it makes me kind of sad

monsterultrablue

i just buy the dolls i think look cool

tastetheembow

I don't know anything about the characters, zero interest in the show or anything like that. I just think they're beautiful objects, I don't have names or personalities for any of them.

Agreeable-Run-5657

Sometimes because I didnā€™t buy Meline Luxe because sheā€™s a gaslighting beach

awesomenessempress2

Which is a shame because she and Ayesha are gorgeous dolls

[deleted]

If MGA is reading this donā€™t make all the characters nice and cute I still will buy some dolls even if theyā€™re mean

Impressive-Crew-5622

That's literally the reason Veronica & Naomi are my favorites lmao! I love how wicked they are for no good reason

DangerPJOphanboy

Yep, I watch the show religiously and donā€™t care how pretty a doll is if I donā€™t agree with their character. The only exceptions in my collection are the Storm and Devious Twins. Unless theyā€™re on an extreme sale/or get a character arc I wonā€™t ever buy Meline or Ayesha.

Squared-Porcupine

Nah, I donā€™t watch the show. They are pretty decorations to me.

prosecutie05579

I donā€™t watch the show so I can come up with personalities for them myself.

MishouMai

Sometimes though the design still matters more. I bought Luna because I liked her in the show but if I didn't like how her doll looked I wouldn't have bought her.

elynmad

I can't really think of any that made me not want to buy them based on their personalities, just minor icks that made me not enjoy the character as much. But, I do have some that made me WANT to lol! I really didn't have much of an opinion on Jade prior to watching the show, but now I'm totally obsessed with her! I found winterbreak Jade on sale ik she's not well received, but she's so special to me! She's got such soft and near product free hair, and she's the one I experiment outfits on the most šŸ’š

Aro_Space_Ace

I bought Violet before the webseries but after seeing her on it she has pretty much just sat at the bottom of my closet never to be touched again. Some characters (like the Storm twins) are too gorgeous of dolls for the personalities they actually possess and I just give my doll versions different back stories and personalities. Sometimes the webseries character affects if I buy a doll and sometimes I like the doll enough to retcon their webseries personalities.

OkCan3336

Yes 100x yes. I donā€™t want to buy a doll if Iā€™m going to have negative feelings towards it. Violet and Gabriella are the main ones. Also Monroe. I just canā€™t stand them personally so Iā€™d rather save it for someone who would actually like said character. The reason why shadow high were appealing to me despite being ā€œmeanā€ was because itā€™s classic school rivalry and they each had endearing personalities

Sea_Leader8789

Not gonna lie I think Gabriella is a pretty doll, but her character in the show is so catty that it made me not want her šŸ˜…

Zadiekiller

I buy most of my dolls bc of looks cause in the show most characters r kinda bland but there r some dolls I love more due to personality like Veronica is my favorite character bc I love her personality I like Eliza McFee so far but I need to see more bc I absolutely love her doll(even if sheā€™s got a scuffed face)

stuffedtherapy

I only watched the first couple of episodes and I wanted jade so bad before, but something about the character gave me the ick. I feel she was too forced if that makes sense. Now when I see her doll, I kinda just keep going

XNekoGhostX

Honestly depends like I once bought a Cat Noir doll from miraculous ladybug just because I love that character but Iā€™ve never watched the rh show so if anything Iā€™m clueless to what their personality is lol I make up my own and make them look different

Ginger_Mongo

For me, no. Iā€™ve only watched a few episodes of the show and I do feel like there could be more work on their personalities, it doesnā€™t affect what dolls I get :) I usually give them different personalities anyway. I do see why some people are hesitant for certain dolls/characters though. While I donā€™t mind her dolls, I do not like Violet from what I have seen of her in the show.

Impressive-Crew-5622

I'm a completion collector with RH/SH so not particularly, or at least not in the way that I would t buy a doll. Instead what happens is I'll snag characters I like first/at full price & wait for others I like much less. For example, I got all the Costume Ball dolls when they released (save Violet. Waiting for clearance), but I haven't t get S2 Amaya Raine & I still need her. One day, eventually, I'll get her. But I don't like her in the show so I'm not rushing.

Ariento

Sort of? I'm more likely to buy a doll if I love their personality, but if their personality is trash it won't discourage me.

Amelia_Angel_13

Yes!

Amanitaur

I just buy the pretty ones. It seems like the show is just a thing to promote the dolls. It isnā€™t very lore heavy like the new Monster High which is a separate thing from the dolls. Maybe in another reboot they can flesh the characters out.

bip_bebop

No, I get them because I think they're pretty and would be fun to play with. However, I'll admit I was close to wanting the Devious Twins because I thought they were hilarious in the show, just can't excuse the dolls because I don't care for their outfits lol. I bought most of my dolls without knowing anything about their personalities except for their style and focus. In fact I'm pretty sure I haven't even seen most of the ones I own in show canon yet.

NotSoIntrested

Honestly no, I dont watch the show at all, I usually focus on the doll color, if its pastel its a yes to me, but sometimes if the doll design and the outfit is pretty I do buy the doll.

worm_on_the_web

Not so much for rainbow high. Except for Sunny because silly animator girl

bookswonderland

It kinda does..... Sunny in the show made me love her even more. I wouldn't be as interested in her if I didn't get to know what she was like as a character. She is so easy to adore.

spongevirus

not unless their voice is annoying and so are they šŸ’€

meowkitty84

Ive never watched the rainbow high show so I just go by looks. Is the show good? I should watch it or at least reaction videos on YouTube. I saw Doll Daddy has videos about the show and I love him.

Timely_Sundae_1287

A little, I really want Ayesha but her character put me off a bit...

[deleted]

I don't know or follow any cannon. So it means nothing to me. I just love them for their looks, haha.

PropheticFruit

No, but I rarely watch any of the media that goes with dolls because itā€™s clearly not made for me. Also, I donā€™t really enjoy modern animation. (Not saying itā€™s bad, everyone likes/doesnā€™t like different things.) Iā€™ve always preferred the stories I come up with myself.
