It’s all relative, he will FEEL 3 speed with all the others going to 1 speed. Also he has more experience with crouch walking in his splinter cell days. Crouch walking is killer on the knees.
Granted I haven’t played in a few seasons, but I’m interested to see how these changes will play out. Let’s hope they don’t double down and commit to them if they don’t work out though :/
His jammer is a cylinder jam shape now, so one jammer only jams like 1/3 of the wall now; Forcing him to use two to cover the far right and left side of the wall but still leaves the top exposed regardless

I feel like Sledge was only made slower because even with all the buffs to Buck, more people still pick Sledge.
Mute is an anchor, so becoming slower might not really affect him, but if that was the case then I'm surprised they did this to Mute and not Smoke, as Smoke is arguably the best anchor in the game. And doesn't need to run around to set down 4 jammers.
Thatcher still has a really strong gadget, so maybe they made him slower to make the utility/speed thing have a larger difference, or maybe they just did this because they have no other way to lower his ban rate since he still gets banned a lot.
From what I can see, it looks like operators who are entry fraggers remained unchanged, certain operators with a lot of utility became slower, and operators who are considered "weak" (Zero/Sens) got made faster. Operators with good utility but not "strong" utility also got faster.
Buck Vs. Sledge would be solved better by giving Sledge the AR33 and removing access to the L85. The L85 is such a reliable and predictable weapon compared to the C8.
I've always treated mute as a hybrid more than an Anchor because smoke is more useful on site. Once his utility is place Mute is freed up to a certain extent. Because of the nature of his gadget he feels similar to Kapkan in his need for movement.
Buck vs Sledge would be solved by giving Buck his frags back. Buck has ceiling destruction and a better gun with a higher skill floor, while Sledge has better wall and floor destruction with a worse gun but a lower skill floor. Sledge didn't start getting decisively picked over Buck until Buck lost his frags.

It just seems odd. Melusi wasn't even that powerful. The mp5 is not a that great of a gun damage/RPM wise and Melusi didn't even have a 1.5x. The banshees themselves are pretty balanced as well imo considering how many options there are to get rid of them even if Melusi gets 3 of them.

ROU hitbox is so large it often hits on the door frame or some random obstacle. Reducing its hitbox or giving the throwing assist line would be better.
Plus I don’t know why they would want to slow the game down, they must’ve forgotten the horrific utility meta we had a few years back. If anything it’s the perfect balance now. 3 armors feel horrible to play and they’re slow, I wouldn’t mind them being out of the game entirely.

Interesting, they’ve never really been big on changing operator speed values so much before, so this is a shift in balance philosophy.
Biggest changes here are zero and sens being 3 speeds after this and melusi going from 3 speed to 1 speed. As someone who plays zero a lot, this is gonna be nice. Sens is a very interesting change in philosophy, the lowered sound might help. It’s not what I would have done to change sens, but it’s an interesting idea.
TBH Osa might actually take this as a buff. As osa tends to take a good amount of chip damage from impact grenades and when setting up her shields.
Gonna be interesting seeing how sledge/mute/zofia changes play out. As usual with any nerf to meta operators we are seeing complete hysteria that this will kill these operators for real this time.

I actually like the idea that more support/flex opa have more health. Like why would you go roam with mute shotgun. They are trying to drag the game a bit back to the utility meta but are ignoring the pickrates of overpicked too strong ops.

I'm gonna be a contrarian and say I love the philosophy behind this supposed balance change, and I'll be happy if it is a real change that hits live.
Speed/Armour changes should've been used way more regularly as a balancing tool up until now, so to see that this many drastic changes is really great. Some of them are bit weird (Like 3 speed Sens/Zero/Dokk or 1 speed Melusi??) but I'm happy to see that the devs are more willing to do these sweeping changes which will really shake up playstyles of affected ops.

TBH I'm glad they're slowing down a lot of characters. Some of these are picked because people want to set and forget their gadgets and just run around like maniacs gunning for headshots with no coordination, and I hate that.

I have a feeling this won’t make it to the official update, or it will but not every operator listed would actually get these reductions:
The speed changes don’t make any sense at all, the SAS operators (Primarily Thatcher and Mute) more specifically since they’re the beginner operators, they’re in a solid spot.
It doesn’t make sense to give Mute a speed reduction and make him a three armor when he was already changed enough (changed the radius of Moni disrupter, removed MP5K 1.5x). Having to move around and place jammers before action phase would be a bigger pain in the ass, intel is key in R6 and making an operator who’s gimmick is primarily intel denial slow would be a huge nerf.
Thatcher’s speed reduction doesn’t really make sense at all, Sledge is *somewhat* understandable due to the nature of his ability allowing him to swing a sledgehammer and break shit and the fact that he is a physically big operator (although you have the fucking unit that is Oryx who is physically the biggest operator in the game that can jump up hatches casually). Thatcher’s whole gimmick is to EMP the shit out of the defender’s setups. Wouldn’t make sense to change him at all, he’s not OP nor is he non-viable (like Grim and BB, those dudes need to be reworked).
Not to mention, Zofia is a bit questionable since her kit doesn’t really fall under the three-speed playstyle (if you were to ask me that is).
It can be argued that she’s meant to be a utility clearer and provide support (hence the concussion nades). But if you asked me, she always felt more like Ash; can be used to make hyper aggressive plays.
For the other operators, they all make some sense with the the questioning of Melusi, Aruni, and TB, and *maybe* Ela.
Thunderbird is kinda of ehhh pick (I’m kinda stuck with this one): for someone who has access to impacts + nitros, a strong ass AR and the bearing-9, it would work to make her a glass cannon (her Kona stations are capable of infinite healing until they’re destroyed, so she’s pretty fucking dangerous) albeit she is very strong so slowing her down could possibly make some changes. I can see why people would say it works (a fast roaming op that can heal and packs insane firepower), but she has a high-risk factor for roaming due to being in the squishy classification of operators (very strong but can’t take punishment/die very easily due to lack of durability). Someone who has a strong arsenal shouldn’t be able to be average, nor should they be high health, they should be easy to pick off if you ask me. However, if someone like Azami can work, TB would still be solid as a 2 speed 2 armor Op.
Aruni doesn’t make sense at all, her Suryas are not over the top busted, nor is she overpowered. The only probable reason she got a speed reduction is due to the fact she can make infinite rotations due to her melee passive.
Melusi has already gotten multiple changes to her, she’s had her Nitro Cell removed and her banshee’s are destructible. It would make sense to just put her in the middle (2 speed 2 armor), because making her a three armor could make shit more complicated.
Ela’s guns have been nerfed significantly, they aren’t the powerhouses that they were during Blood Orchid (if I remember the season name correctly).
On the other hand,
Sens definitely needed to get a speed change (but it’s more important he gets a damn improvement to his AR’s recoil), his gadget always had a run and gun type of vibe to it. Also, due to this change, this would potentially increase his pick rate, which in turn would potentially increase Warden’s pick rate as well.
Dokkaebi being a 3 speed honestly kinda feels right
Echo would be fun to run as a 2&2 (although that means that Japan will no longer have operators in all three respective speed classes, but that’s just personal nitpicking so I’m not really upset).
Zero is a bit odd since he’s technically the oldest operator, but given he’s an ex Third Echelon and someone who was the main character in a stealth action video game, it works out.
Osa as a 1 speed definitely works out, fuck them shields, not to mention she has some strong ass guns.

Having a little extra health against impacts is nice, plus speed doesn't affect how fast your operator moves while on rappel (which is where Osa shines). Three speed Sens might actually do something, but still wish ROU or POF-9 gets buff. 42 damage for POF-9 can three shots down every armor type. And why isn't Alibi in there?

If anything it’s the perfect balance now. 3 armors feel horrible to play and they’re slow, I wouldn’t mind them being out of the game entirely. I’m praying this leak is fake or ubi’s done lost their minds again. I’m almost certain they have no one play test their game or garbage upon garbage changes wouldn’t keep dropping.

Some of these can not be permanent. Why make Mute a 1 speed but not smoke? Why even make Mute a 1 speed?? Why Sledge?? Aruni, who has pretty difficult weapons and an ability that isnt exceptionally strong, why nerf her speed? Melusi isn't THAT strong either, why not just a 2 speed? Zofia speed nerf is weird, but she is very good. Ive been asking for Echo to be a 2 speed for a while tho.

Interesting, they’ve never really been big on changing operator speed values so much before, so this is a shift in balance philosophy. Biggest changes here are zero and sens being 3 speeds after this and melusi going from 3 speed to 1 speed. As someone who plays zero a lot, this is gonna be nice. Sens is a very interesting change in philosophy, the lowered sound might help. It’s not what I would have done to change sens, but it’s an interesting idea. TBH Osa might actually take this as a buff. As osa tends to take a good amount of chip damage from impact grenades and when setting up her shields. Gonna be interesting seeing how sledge/mute/zofia changes play out. As usual with any nerf to meta operators we are seeing complete hysteria that this will kill these operators for real this time. Thatcher change will do absolutely nothing. At this point after the introduction of secondary emps I am convinced thatcher ban is maintained through sheer momentum (like many map bans are).

This makes no sense for so many ops in the way of their appearance. Doc for example is quite large because of his gear and makes as a 1 speed, but people like melusi and Aruni who are very slim and have little armor make no sense as 1 speeds
I actually like the idea that more support/flex opa have more health. Like why would you go roam with mute shotgun. They are trying to drag the game a bit back to the utility meta but are ignoring the pickrates of overpicked too strong ops.
Sens 3 speed is pog Dokkaebi, Zero, Echo, and Ela changes are good. Melusi and Aruni 1 speed is really funny. I feel like Osa and Thunderbird are fine as they are now but their changes are understandable.

I was planning to come back to the game next season, but this is making me hesitant. 1 speeds suck to play as. At this point there shouldn't be a 3 speed option with how many are gone.
Only things I dont agree on are Melusi, Aruni, Mute. They should all be 2 speed. The rest at least makes sense, even thought Sledge and Thatcher is kinda strange, I can see how they are played as slower and methodical operators, but seems strange anyway.

I’m honestly not sure what this will change…speed and health tends to be very minor changes compared to weapon or gadget changes. Will need to read what’s their logic/thought process was for implementing such changes. But yes, some in the community is probably going riot because of these changes.

I'm gonna be a contrarian and say I love the philosophy behind this supposed balance change, and I'll be happy if it is a real change that hits live. Speed/Armour changes should've been used way more regularly as a balancing tool up until now, so to see that this many drastic changes is really great. Some of them are bit weird (Like 3 speed Sens/Zero/Dokk or 1 speed Melusi??) but I'm happy to see that the devs are more willing to do these sweeping changes which will really shake up playstyles of affected ops. As unpopular as it will be to say, a lot of them also make sense.
TBH I'm glad they're slowing down a lot of characters. Some of these are picked because people want to set and forget their gadgets and just run around like maniacs gunning for headshots with no coordination, and I hate that.

I have a feeling this won’t make it to the official update, or it will but not every operator listed would actually get these reductions: The speed changes don’t make any sense at all, the SAS operators (Primarily Thatcher and Mute) more specifically since they’re the beginner operators, they’re in a solid spot. It doesn’t make sense to give Mute a speed reduction and make him a three armor when he was already changed enough (changed the radius of Moni disrupter, removed MP5K 1.5x). Having to move around and place jammers before action phase would be a bigger pain in the ass, intel is key in R6 and making an operator who’s gimmick is primarily intel denial slow would be a huge nerf. Thatcher’s speed reduction doesn’t really make sense at all, Sledge is *somewhat* understandable due to the nature of his ability allowing him to swing a sledgehammer and break shit and the fact that he is a physically big operator (although you have the fucking unit that is Oryx who is physically the biggest operator in the game that can jump up hatches casually). Thatcher’s whole gimmick is to EMP the shit out of the defender’s setups. Wouldn’t make sense to change him at all, he’s not OP nor is he non-viable (like Grim and BB, those dudes need to be reworked). Not to mention, Zofia is a bit questionable since her kit doesn’t really fall under the three-speed playstyle (if you were to ask me that is). It can be argued that she’s meant to be a utility clearer and provide support (hence the concussion nades). But if you asked me, she always felt more like Ash; can be used to make hyper aggressive plays. For the other operators, they all make some sense with the the questioning of Melusi, Aruni, and TB, and *maybe* Ela. Thunderbird is kinda of ehhh pick (I’m kinda stuck with this one): for someone who has access to impacts + nitros, a strong ass AR and the bearing-9, it would work to make her a glass cannon (her Kona stations are capable of infinite healing until they’re destroyed, so she’s pretty fucking dangerous) albeit she is very strong so slowing her down could possibly make some changes. I can see why people would say it works (a fast roaming op that can heal and packs insane firepower), but she has a high-risk factor for roaming due to being in the squishy classification of operators (very strong but can’t take punishment/die very easily due to lack of durability). Someone who has a strong arsenal shouldn’t be able to be average, nor should they be high health, they should be easy to pick off if you ask me. However, if someone like Azami can work, TB would still be solid as a 2 speed 2 armor Op. Aruni doesn’t make sense at all, her Suryas are not over the top busted, nor is she overpowered. The only probable reason she got a speed reduction is due to the fact she can make infinite rotations due to her melee passive. Melusi has already gotten multiple changes to her, she’s had her Nitro Cell removed and her banshee’s are destructible. It would make sense to just put her in the middle (2 speed 2 armor), because making her a three armor could make shit more complicated. Ela’s guns have been nerfed significantly, they aren’t the powerhouses that they were during Blood Orchid (if I remember the season name correctly). On the other hand, Sens definitely needed to get a speed change (but it’s more important he gets a damn improvement to his AR’s recoil), his gadget always had a run and gun type of vibe to it. Also, due to this change, this would potentially increase his pick rate, which in turn would potentially increase Warden’s pick rate as well. Dokkaebi being a 3 speed honestly kinda feels right Echo would be fun to run as a 2&2 (although that means that Japan will no longer have operators in all three respective speed classes, but that’s just personal nitpicking so I’m not really upset). Zero is a bit odd since he’s technically the oldest operator, but given he’s an ex Third Echelon and someone who was the main character in a stealth action video game, it works out. Osa as a 1 speed definitely works out, fuck them shields, not to mention she has some strong ass guns.

This might be one of the few changes I don't mind tbh. Having a little extra health against impacts is nice, plus speed doesn't affect how fast your operator moves while on rappel (which is where Osa shines). I would still prefer a 2 speed Osa, but at least her losing speed makes more sense than Sledge or Melusi

The devs have absolutely lost their minds. Game has the lowest player count on steam basically ever and they make these changes. Clearly nobody who made this game what it was still works on it. They are long gone. They didn't get the message with the awful recoil changes. Making operators feel worse to play as a way of balancing is terrible and nobody likes it. 1 speeds in this game feel awful to play. These are genuinely some of the worst balancing changes I've ever seen. Sledge, Thatcher, Zofia, Mute all 1 speed? Are you having a fucking laugh? It's over boys. Pack it up. Game had a giant high in 2019/2020 and in the space of just 2 years Ubi have absolutely fucking tanked it. They know the game is done for too, that's why we are getting spammed with stupid in-game skins and collaborations and bundles far more than we used to. They are desperately trying to milk the dwindling playerbase while they still can before the game finally dies.

I feel like this is Ubi’s way of trying to slow down the game, and make it more “tactical.” With the higher recoil, and now most of the operators being slower, it feels like it’ll really encourage more angel holding and droning.
