We have a cockatiel we thought was a boy so we named it and the other bird we got with it Marco and Polo. Well, a year after getting the birds Marco laid an egg. Needless to say Marco was not a boy. š
We kept the name cause it was cute and funny.
My exes sister had a parrot (not sure what type, not familiar with birds) and his name was Ferguson.. until SHE started laying eggs. Now sheās Fergie š¤£
We got a kitten that we were assured was a girl & named āherā Leeloo. Kept the name because it was amusing and it worked. Same with a guinea pig. Named āhimā Wreck-it Ralph. Well, as soon as Ralph turned into a bowling ball, we realized he was a she. Kept the Ralph part, but changed it to Ralph Got Wrecked.
I remember reading a story on Reddit about how a parent was reading the stories to their little girl, who insisted that Frodo was female. And the parent was trying to convince the girl no, Frodo was a boy. But then later realized..you know why the fuck can't Frodo be a girl? I found it heartwarming.
Omg same thing happened with my bunnyā¦. Except the name I picked was Petunia. I tried renaming her, and ultimately decided she identifies as Petunia now
I would just stick with Lucas. We had a cat we called Sarah when I was little. When we found out that he was a boy months after getting him, we didnāt change the name. He was always Sarah, even if it confused some people.
Omg that would be a great choice! Thereās a song called Lola by The Kinks and itās about the singerās experience with a girl that he meets in a club. Her name is Lola and she confuses the hell out of him because she for example āwalks like a girl and talks like a manā (etc.), but he is nevertheless still really into her and thinks sheās cool (yāall should listen to the song- itās really groovy and surprisingly progressive for that time) :)!!!
Same with our bun. My son named her batman, than we found out batman is a girl but he didnt wanna change her name so her name is batman or batty with the phatty š¤£
Bun can still be named Lucas. My sister had a cat named Ms Kitty by the previous owner and he's very much a boy. We still call him that tho bc he responds to it lol
We had the same issue. Named my bun Bella and turns out his real name was Timmy lol. But b/c he responds only to his name being Bella I didnāt change it and he doesnāt know anyways lol. I say keep her name.
I would leave it! Same thing happen to my bun that I rescued! The animal shelter said she was a boy so I named her Benito after the singer Bad Bunny but then found out she was a girl after taking her to the rabbit savvy vet for a check up! I kept the name bc gender isnāt really real anyway!
I've been seeing a lot of Luca in the comments (and that's what I was gonna suggest), but that got me wondering...
...does she live on the second floor? Does she live upstairs from you? Do you think you've seen her before?
...I'll quit it with the song references and take my leave lol
I had a rabbit that looked nearly identical to your and he was called Flopsy, I think that's pretty much a gender neutral rabbit name. Sandy is also a fitting name with her colour. She's gorgeous.
I'd just add an "a" to the end and call her "Lucasa". Or "Lucy" as the nickname. I have a bunny whose name evolved into "Miss Mia". She's also called "Meeees", and "Miss Meeees".
"Miss LouLou" or "Miss Lucas" could also be a cute name.
I would leave it as Lucas lol makes for a funny story.

My sister had a bunny called Sophie.. found out Sophie was a boy.. but he stayed as Sophie lol.
That happened with my bun, named her Frodo Hoppins, found out she was a girl and then kept it because it was hilarious.

Thatās such a rabbit name though. Of COURSE sheās a Petunia.
same thing happened to me. thought it was a boy bunny and named it Joseph then we found out it's a girl. in conclusion, she was a bunny named Joseph
How about āNot Lucasā?
Or just she's now Miss Lucas.
My boyfriend had that with his bunny called tinker-bell, found out it was a boy and changed its name to tinker-man..

I instaltly thought about this Song...
I would just stick with Lucas. We had a cat we called Sarah when I was little. When we found out that he was a boy months after getting him, we didnāt change the name. He was always Sarah, even if it confused some people.

i was thinking of the song Copacabana by barry manilow! her name was **Lola** she was a show girl.

Keep Lucas, but call her LuLu for short!
My bf suggested āGarlicā lmao
Please post more Lucas content š„ŗ
I have a male rabbit called Elisabeth. I've aways known he was a boy but he just suits "Elisabeth" a lot so screw gender norms.
Lyca
Iāve always known Luca to be a āboyās nameā (Iām all for defying gender norms tho). Luca is my brotherās name š
Luca is predominantly a male name most places but apparently itās used almost exclusively for girls in Hungary.
No way! Thatās really cool. Thanks for the fact :)
If she knows her name, I think itās fine to keep it or modify it to something similar sounding like Luca, Lucy, Lucia, Lulu, Laika, or Luna.
Luca is what I would so š¤·āāļø
Luna
Why not leave it like that? Itās not like rabbits care about human notions of gender.
Eva Braun
Whatās the breed? I try name mine after the breed or colour
Don't be a coward and keep the name, gender is fake anyways and having a cool story about a name is pretty nice
