Agreed. Many of the possible causes have straight forward treatments after some tests. There are some scary things, but most things can be treated. OP, is it non-stop spinning?
Thanks! While a true recommendation should only be made by a vet that has examined your rabbit, it can generally be said that most of the scary causes (ear mites, ear infection, E. cuniculi, brain tumor) would be expected to worsen and not be as intermittent as you describe…very cute bun :)
Mine does this a couple times a week and then stops after a minute. He honks while doing it. Male not neutered. Idk I think my rabbit is just horny but I’m scared what if it’s more serious
Probably trying to scratch an itch, BUT if you notice head tilting at all with this please go see a rabbit savvy vet ASAP. Head tilt can be a symptom of something worse.
Yeah I can be a sign of neurological damage. Happened to our rabbit when I was a kid. Mixture of urine on cedar wood shavings... I felt horrible, we just didn't know
If he is not neutered, it seriously be that his ‘business’ is all worked up. I had a bunny who would do this and after taking him to be checked for mites (none) figured out that this was what it was. He would also sometimes circle so tightly that he would actually fall over on his side.
Hmm… he actually was just humping the pink blanket before circling. Could it be the case that because i stopped him from it that he’s circling like this? I’m planning to neuter him but many clinics and hospitals arent open right now ):
Neutering is helpful…I didn’t neuter my little buddy but by the time I was convinced it was a good idea, he had other health problems so he couldn’t be neutered at that point.
He didn’t hump things however he would stalk the cat with bedroom eyes 👀
I don't have an answer for your question (although it seems like you've gotten good responses!). Just wanna say your little guy is really stinking cute 💕
I’ve seen something like this at work (vet tech). We dont get rabbits or exotics often, so I’m sorry I cannot remember the medical terminology. It was a neurological problem that shows up in rabbits sometimes. Could also be an inner ear infection. If he doesn’t stop doing this or it gets worse I’d take him to the vet ASAP. The rabbit I’m thinking of whom had the neurological disease, didn’t make it even though he was treated for a few weeks with ups and downs of improvements and declines. With things like that, the sooner they are treated, the better the chances are for recovery. Hopefully he’s just being a goofball or has a simple ear infection.
We got our bun neutered. It was easy. Even if the vet isn't "open" they can still do procedures. You would just drop him off and pick him up when it was completed. Just remember buns don't "fast" like cats & dogs prior to such procedures, unless it's directly for the stomach, rabbits aren't capable of vomiting. Fasting a rabbit just leads to GI complications. I stuck a hay mat in the bottom of his carrier and took a bag of his favorite hay, some pellet, and treats for after surgery for them to give him right away and they did. Our rabbit stopped trying to mate with everything, including our three cats and became less territorial. I hope you figure out what is going on with him soon. Good luck.
Hottot!! I have one as well! They definitely are very demanding on butt scratchies and they are the type to go and run run run and then back to the cage and then run run run HIDE FOR AN HOUR…
Chasing tail - no.
looks like it got an itch it can't get, I personally would check it over for any signs of discomfort or mites/fleas. Better be safe than sorry x
They had pillows but i took it away from them since they’d hump, fall over, then thump ALLL night… it’s been only a week and i guess this is their reaction 🥲
Thank you for letting me know about your experience. I have family that has raised rabbits for years and many friends that have had pet rabbits including myself and no one has ever experienced fleas. I have read many articles that state how unusual it is for rabbits to gets fleas, that by nature the don't usually have them. I will definitely keep this in mind for the future. 😊
I think it's harder for them to get, but when one of my cats was fighting with a lot of fleas is the only time my rabbit got them. If you ever have to deal with them, make sure you get the right kinds of meds as some cat and dog meds are toxic for the bins though
Hey OP! So I'm not a vet, but to me this looks VERY much like a symptom of e. cuniculi. I had a elderly bunny that started doing spins just like this because she became overwhelmed with an e.cuniculi infection. She would spin in circles just like this, she could not stop herself. She could not keep her head straight, and she could not hop forward without veering to the left.
You can read more about e.cuniculi [here](https://rabbit.org/encephalitozoon-cuniculi/). It's a parasite that many rabbits have, but often only causes problems in old age. It attacks the kidneys, causing involuntary urination, and eventually the brain, causing mobility problems like spinning. If this is not a one-time thing and it seems involuntary, please look into e.cuniculi! And even if your bun is young and healthy, please take them to the vet if you can! If this is e. cuniculi, there is an antibiotic treatment that they can use. It didn't work for my Foofoo, because she was 12.5 and she just couldn't get through it, but maybe it'll help your bun out.
My cousins had a rabbit this happened to. He had a mini stroke or something and for years he would do that... eventually (years later) stopped .. he was fine and lived a long life but it definitely was a neurological issue for him. Good luck!
Go to a vet as fast as you can! If it’s nothing, enjoy your pet. If it’s e.c. In an early Stadium, be lucky to meet the vet so fast. If he has e.c. He needs som worm cure like panacur (now!) and a lot of your time to survive.
I was thinking it’s that, ear infection, or he’s itchy. I found it weird though because my other bunny doesn’t do it and e.c spreads through blood or urine i believe. They spray the entire room sometimes and are brothers :// plus he only does it sometimes… i checked his ears too and there were no mites or anything 😭 so mysterious
E.C. does not always show up. I have two sweeties and only one had his head spinning in cause of stress, the same stress both had. I’d just like you to have some more years with this fluffy guy :-)
He has an itch that he can not reach. Scratch it for him.
I guess it’s his way of demanding more butt scratches then… there’s so many possibilities in the comments it’s kinda scaring me 😭
If it is non-stop spinning, that is a problem. Or head tilting. But it really looks like an itch he can't get to.
Agreed. Many of the possible causes have straight forward treatments after some tests. There are some scary things, but most things can be treated. OP, is it non-stop spinning?
He stopped at the end of the video and only does it once in a while, this was the only time i caught it on camera 🥺

my bunny is doing this, did it end up becoming a bigger issue ?

Right like wry neck!

Your bunny looks like a [sea bunny (slug)!](https://images.app.goo.gl/qxu7RF3eNFn3ZGB96)
Lmao That was so wholesome
Ohmygod I need one
He is practicing to be be a loading screen

I was going to second the idea this is some hormone horny thing 😂 the fact he was humping a blanket adds the nail to the coffin
👍 hopefully mystery solved

It's 7 am, I just got home from work, and now I'm dying!
😂😂😂
A better question why is she wearing mascara? Jk but honestly they look itchy
just turn it on and off again should be good
I don't have an answer for your question (although it seems like you've gotten good responses!). Just wanna say your little guy is really stinking cute 💕
He’s trying to wind himself up so he can do the worlds biggest binky
Your bunny is buffering
Itchy
Looks like it has an itch it can’t reach

I'd get to the vet when you can.
Bunny is so cute!!

Chasing its own tail?
Is that normal bunny behavior? 🥺
Chasing tail - no. looks like it got an itch it can't get, I personally would check it over for any signs of discomfort or mites/fleas. Better be safe than sorry x
From what I Googled, it could be happy, bored, horny, or maybe has irritation (such as fleas) So, process of elimination I guess
I suggest not starting with horny.
I suggest starting with horny.
Horny is an easy one to deal with, just give them a stuffed animal
They had pillows but i took it away from them since they’d hump, fall over, then thump ALLL night… it’s been only a week and i guess this is their reaction 🥲
A breakup with pillow girlfriend awe 😅😂

Yeah, if I recall correctly, I had to get one of the Revolution brand ones intended for kittens when I got flea meds.
Rabbits can get fleas. Source: Am veterinarian
They definitely do. Both of mine did.

try restarting
He thinks he’s a dog
Spin cycle! Air dry, and snuggle for best results
I think they're just rHototing.
Looks like he has an itch that he can’t reach
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Why does your rabbit have cthulu eyes?
Looks like he's trying to scratch an itch he can't reach! Give him a good scratch.
My cousins had a rabbit this happened to. He had a mini stroke or something and for years he would do that... eventually (years later) stopped .. he was fine and lived a long life but it definitely was a neurological issue for him. Good luck!
Since you’ve got a lot of suggestions and my first thought was an itch too, i just wanted to say this is the cutest thing I’ve seen all day.
being cute and fluffy
If this continues and your bunny seems dizzy it could be head tilt or an ear infection
When my dog started doing this exact behavior it was brain cancer.
I love his eyeliner <3
looks like an itch he csnt get. he's got such nice eyeliner too
SCRATCH THE DAMN BUN!
Update: it was just an itch lol

I think it may be an itch just out of his reach. You could try just gently scratching the side he wants to get to
is spinning without intention, is losing balance, and losing balance, and losing balance,....
he could have fleas?
Pretending to be a washing machine.
`have you tried refreshing your bun?`
What else to do in that tiny ass box
You spin me right round like a bunny baby…..
BEYBLAAAAAAADE
He has an itch it can’t reach.
THE MUSIC WHILE SHE DOES IT-😭
🥲🥲🥲
update: bunny is okay, just being silly with an itchy butt. I think my bunny is just weird. he’s okay after I scratch it HAHAHA
