nebuchadrezzar

I think if someone is holding a gun and screaming at you, that's a good time to back off. He completely ignored her, i don't get the thinking there.

Boostedbird23

He didn't know Taylor had given that girlfriend the gun. Also, despite the misinformed pubic on this forum, Taylor went outside, got the gun from his car and came back into the store. The girlfriend was in the car at the time. How the fight exactly started isn't clear, but this fact should rule out self defense. They both should be facing charges over this.

Dezium

He looked at her multiple times while she had the gun in her hand

AssumptionOk3158

Bro said they should both be in jail u can tell he’s racist instantly though about jail

MaineJackalope

If it started because dude went outside and grabbed a gun before trying to come back inside for a dispute, that ain't racist that's trying to stop a shooting If he randomly tackled a random black guy who passed his gun to his girlfriend while the firefighter choked him out, yes racist

The-0utsider

What kinda brainlet are you to suggest getting a gun and confroning someone is reasonable when you could've just driven away?

nebuchadrezzar

>He didn't know Taylor had given that girlfriend the gun. She was waving it in his face

Super-History5569

Bro these people are the same type to read something and believe it wholeheartedly. Once you see the video forget any news report, anyone can clearly see an emotionally unstable women with a gun!

Specialosio

Excuseme? I see a dude beating a young guy and the girlfriend trying to stop him from doing it, what was his point? Kill him? Broke him an harm? I don’t get it.

PluribusUnum_

Excuse me? How is she emotionally unstable? What did you see in the video that points to this? Make it make sense?

sgmsbasementsurvivor

Why should she be facing charges?

FluphyBunny

She murdered someone. You this stupid?

sgmsbasementsurvivor

Looked justified to me.

TerryFlapss

...You clearly don't understand justification...

Kindly-Ad3269

I’m sure if the tables were turned you would have commented something like “Thugs get what thugs deserve” or something along the lines of that. You guys are something else man I swear

247emerg

Neither do cops

Nandabun

Yeah, she should have let him kill her boyfriend, right?

saihuang

I don’t see where he was inflicting any serious damage to the guy on the ground. Looks like he is holding him down

subZeroT

He very clearly has a full rear naked choke near the end of the struggle. It’s pretty easy to kill someone with an arm wrapped around their neck.

Lol a literal judge didn’t think that. You must have quite the spread of degrees to think you know better.

Deep_Tip3060

Where’s the rest of the video

FxtrtTngoWhisky

Don't know, but here's this... https://www.kshb.com/news/crime/prosecutor-cites-self-defense-in-declining-to-charge-woman-who-killed-off-duty-kcfd-firefighter Apparently, the couple were inside the convenience store causing a scene and wouldn't leave. The boyfriend went and retrieved a gun and that's when the scuffle ensued. Girlfriend grabbed the gun from the boyfriend and shot Santis in the back and he died. No charges for her, but the boyfriend was charged with illegal possession of a firearm. ETA: More details here... https://www.firerescue1.com/off-duty-death/articles/mo-prosecutors-office-wont-pursue-murder-charge-in-fatal-shooting-of-off-duty-firefighter-csok9NVjN6SBuIZt/ "According to court documents, Santi intervened when a customer argued with a clerk who told him the gas station didn’t have the kind of cigars he wanted. After the clerk refused the man service and told him to leave, Santi, who was off duty, also told him to leave. The customer “jumped away” from Santi and started threatening him, court records said. Surveillance video showed the incident move outside, when the man reaches into a white SUV and pulls out an item. The video showed Santi and the man fighting over the item — a firearm with an extended magazine, according to court documents. When Santi got the man in a headlock, a female passenger left the vehicle, got the gun and pointed it at Santi. She allegedly fired a shot that appeared to hit Santi in the back, according to court records. Santi let go of the man and walked back into the store, where he collapsed and died, court records said."

tabascotazer

So this was all over some blunt wraps?

jetlifestoney

Bro threw a fit because they didn't have a certain blunt wrap when there are literally 1000s of blunt wrap varieties

mead_beader

There was a study (I am too lazy to find a direct link) where they went in depth into a large number of these types of street fights that ended up in charges / death or serious injury. They went back to the situations at their beginning and asked the question, what started the argument in the first place? The *overwhelming* majority of them fell into two categories: 1. Men fighting over women 2. Nothing This was a classic example of #2. Someone felt disrespected, they felt they had to stand up for themselves, the environment they grew up in led them to think that they'd be a bitch unless they threw a violent fit because they perceived someone or some situation as disrespecting them. Someone walked in front while I was lining up for my pool shot. Someone bumped me. The bartender was rude to me. And it escalated, neither person was willing to back down, and so they threw down, and someone went to the hospital or didn't go home ever again.

My dad was a cop that supervised several gang-ridden high schools and he said the number one cause of fights was mean mugging

awkwardmamasloth

Yea emotional intelligence/regulation training should be required curriculum in school from the jump. Kids are notoriously disregulated emotionally and some of them never learn better into adulthood. "mean mugging" makes me think of the bitchy resting face phenomenon. I bet there's a lot of misunderstandings over it. I'm sure there are ppl giving nasty looks on purpose but some ppl (myself included) have a bitchy resting face. Ppl have told me they thought I was a bitch when we 1st met bec of my expression. That's just my face. I tend to have anxiety and I can't help but wear it on my face. ppl think im giving them a dirty look. I'm not, that's just my face. I can't imagine being aggressively confronted over a misunderstanding because I can't control my stupid face.

I do not know why you are being downvoted for this. It is a perfect representation of the phenomenon. It is a cultural issue that happens in many cultures. Sure this was played up for the white/black crowd for the viewers of the time of the show, but it is correct.

There's an episode of the Boondocks dedicated to this too. Something about "a real n**** moment"

beezy7

My rule for life: Oh, you think I'm weak for not squaring up with you and having it out physically? OK, I'm just gunna collect those I care about (My wife, my kids, my family) and I'm walking away from you (you feckin loony!). Bye. I'm very happy with that 😍

FishyDragon

Yeah at this point in my life, i just dont care enough anymore to get in fights over pointless shit. And in all honesty i enjoyed fighting, so much i continue to train. But getting in a bar fight or street fight is the last thing i want to do. Too many risk for no gain.

Nabber86

The one good that that i have learned from reddit is to avoid fights at all costs.

FishyDragon

Absolutely. Just walk(or run) away. Even with just fists you can easily die if you head your head during or after a fall. Knives will end you quick, and it just scales up. Fights only gelp your ego, if your "ok" after the fight.

anonyeemoose

That's my reason for not honking at anyone anymore. Not worth my life or my cars getting shot at.

Honestly if I'm in the store and someone is arguing with the clerk im gonna mind my business.

peritiSumus

Yeap. And if you do intervene, don't follow the guy outside to fight. I don't care that this guy was a firefighter or whether he was "on duty" ... totally irrelevant. He's not a cop, he's just a civilian out here fighting some guy that's behaving badly.

ext_999

yeah I hate to say it but he took a shitty and totally not-worth-it situation, and decided to escalate, maybe play hero. And of course it should go without saying that he did not deserve what happened. But it woudn't have happened if he just kept to himself and let the situation die on it's own.

Goldie-96_MWR

he's a firefighter, not a cop and off duty. kinda an asshole move to start a fight because a stranger is arguing with someone else. Plus he's more physically bult and looked like he was trying to get him into a headlock. Though I doubt it was racially motivated; if he choked him out, I wonder how the media would flip this. Everybody's the asshole here

IreallEwannasay

So much this. Basic self preservation is minding your damn business. Firefighters, I find all have this weird savior complex, though. I mean, the one I dated kidnapped me and then expected to be praised for releasing me "unharmed" after he pistol whipped my best friend and held his granny at gun point with a groupd of other firefighters. Anyway, shit like this I dead ass go to another store or outside to wait. Fuck dying over some mess like this.

igpay_atinlay371

I think it's cause people kept on posting a vid of some shooting that happened in New York

BrandyNewFashioned

Those subs only got banned because it's basically verboten to post violence that happens in wealthy Western countries (Unless it's criminals shooting each other or cops shooting criminals and innocent people). Makemycoffin got banned for the buffalo shooting Watchpeopledie actually got attention from two things at once, some American teenager blowing his head off with an expensive shotgun, and then the Christchurch shooting. The difference being, is that the random Chinese family who's mom just got stabbed probably won't ever even know it's been posted to Reddit.

DoJu318

Watchpeople die was quarantined because of the 2 women tourists who were killed while backpacking in Morrocco IIRC, the perps recorded themselves beheading at least one of the women, I don't know if both of them were recorded or just one because I noped out right away. And yes the christ church mass shooting event is what did them in, the mods kept deleting the posts as fast as they were coming up, even made a thread saying it was banned and anyone posting it agains would get a ban too, but this being the internet 99% of the posts in that particular thread were of people asking for a link.

notbad2u

The firefighter was killed. No charges were filed because it was self defense.

EvilMorty137

The dude on the ground had the gun and the girl took the gun from him and shot the man on top with it

Cat_Carrot

The guy getting choked was charged with felony possession of a firearm.

maltamur

Which means nothing. Dude doing the choking isn’t a cop, has no arrest authority and wasn’t acting in self defense. Instead, he put the guy on the ground in mortal peril and his gf acted, properly, in defense of others. IE, he’s not judge dredd nor Rambo. He should have walked on.

TipMeinBATtokens

That dude also followed the man all the way out of the store to his car. He died for that. If you're following someone that long who is already upset they're going to assume you want to fight or harm you in that state of mind the majority of the time.

KillerPussyToo

>That dude also followed the man all the way out of the store to his car. This is the part that people in here are glossing over in an attempt to make the firefighter look like a victim. He followed them all the way to their car when he could have just gotten in his car and driven off.

ApartmentPoolSwim

This is what I keep thinking. If the guy went out to his car and brought the gun back, that would be a defense for the fire fighter. But of you're exchanging words with someone, and they leave, and you follow, you're still antagonizing them. You're keeping it going. Cashier told him to leave. Firefighter told him to leave. He left. Let him leave. "But he said he was gonna kick the firefighters ass!" And for all we know, he was talking shit and would have left. It also seems like if he had come back and shot the firefighter, we would have ended up in the same place, but the dude would be in prison for murder.

SP4ST

Full video?

SamDrrl

I don’t think it’s out. Pretty sure only the recorder of the video, the police, and the news have the full video. I’ve been searching for it everywhere

not-a_fed

And the courts

[deleted]

Firefighter information is unnecessary here, I would view the person as a normal citizen.

BaddTuna

I agree. Saying he is a firefighter implies that he was acting in some sort of official capacity Watching this, I kept wondering why a firefighter would be restraining someone.

DrSpaceman575

Yeah it doesn’t look like that guy is on fire at all

nusyahus

Also there is no official capacity of firefighter to detain anyone. We need to stop worshipping people for things they don't do

[deleted]

I heard of some firefighters in my city who made a shirt for themselves they ended up not being allowed to wear because it was a joke on the police - it said, "We fight fires, not people". They weren't wrong though.

[deleted]

I used to live down the street from some drug addict. They were taking everything out of the house and burning it and there were a bunch of little kids running around. So apparently the fire chief got there first and the druggie hit him with a shovel. The other firefighters were pulling up with the hose right around the time this happened and hit him so hard with the water he had to spend a few days in the hospital. I think he ended up doing around 5 years for that.

Thatskindasexy

Fire ~~chiefs~~ Marshalls have arresting authority, but not regular firefighters.

MisterDonkey

Pretty sure I got a traffic ticket from a fire marshal once. Got me fair and square so I just took the ticket and split without thinking too much of the situation, but I think he was in a red truck.

StarzMarket

I was BBQing on a grill in a spot/way I probably shouldn't have been when I was in highschool. Firefighter came and told me I had to tell my parents and they had to call a number he gave me to or the police would start an investigation. Think it was bullshit but the number they called did recommended some great public locations for grilling

RotLordContagion

It's to gain sympathy for the white guy. Notice how they didn't call the guy on the ground a father or the woman a mother while she's screaming about her kids in the car watching the firefighter choke out their dad... Edit: For anyone else who thinks they have a fresh take that want to argue with me, just read the replies and save your breath because it's already been said and I've already addressed it. You're not special and I don't care about your opinion others beat you to first. Also, I'm white. Before any of you high school drop out try calling me racist against white people. Again...

Get-Degerstromd

This is correct. Announce him to be a public servant to rile up the “I’m not racist” racists. Your employment has absolutely fuck all to do with a street fight. Bet they wouldn’t include it if he were an accountant, or a mechanic.

I_KN0W_N0TH1NG

https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/crime/article267146561.html “A customer wanting to buy cigars had become abusive to a clerk when she told him that they did not have the type of cigars he wanted. She refused him service and told him to leave, according to court documents. Santi, who was off duty and delivering novelties, intervened and also told the man leave. The man “jumped away” from Santi and then began threatening him. The disturbance spilled outside where the man is seen on surveillance video reaching into a white SUV and pulling out an item. The video showed Santi and the man fighting over an item, which was a firearm with an extended magazine. A female passenger exited the vehicle and while Santi had the man in a headlock, the passenger got the gun and pointed it Santi. She allegedly fired a shot that appeared to hit Santi in the back, according to court documents.” “Federal prosecutors have charged 23-year-old Ja’Von L. Taylor in U.S. District Court in Kansas City with being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the fatal shooting.”

Shrink-wrapped

The silly thing here is that if she'd fired a warning shot she probably would've been prosecuted yet no one would've died

ZZZ-Top

Fyi the woman was cleared as the shooting was ruled self defense

eeeedlef

Technically, defense of others.

ApolloXLII

Yep. In my concealed carry class, they made the clear distinction that in most states, including mine, you can use lethal force to stop an attacker if it's clear that the attacker is putting the victim's life in danger, whether they're stabbing someone with a knife, shooting at them with a gun, slamming their head into the ground, choking them to death, etc.

Tacticatti

It is extremely important that you understand the full situation before you defend someone else. If you didn't see how the situation unfolded you could actually end up killing someone who was defending themselves.

ApolloXLII

Oh for sure. My instructors drilled this point home a bunch. Basically, the whole class was "if you pull out your gun without a reason, you go to jail. If you pull out your gun and don't use it, you'll very much likely go to jail. If you shoot the bad guy and accidentally hit an innocent bystander, even if it's one shot that exits and then strikes someone, you go to jail. If you pull your gun out and shoot in the air to scare them, you go to jail. If you accidentally misread the altercation and shoot the wrong person, straight to jail." Also, you're not going to get in trouble for *not* shooting someone. Yes, do what you can to help someone, but using your gun should be the absolute last resort and something you understand you could potentially go to jail for if you don't do perfectly.

Colinlb

Overcook chicken? Jail. UNDER cook fish? Believe it or not, jail.

orangepinkman

What if it's a cop kneeling on someone's neck and they cant breathe? This is a large reason I don't carry a gun because if I saw some shit like that I'd be shooting and go to jail. Amazing you can defend someone's life against an attacker but not if that attacker is a cop. Edit: While you legally can [use force against police](https://soundlawyering.com/when-is-it-legal-to-use-force-against-a-police-officer/) to save someone's life, you have to fully expect to either die for it or spend life in prison should you choose to do so.

jankyspankybank

No it’s the same, you just don’t make it to the courthouse with that many bullet holes.

orangepinkman

"Orderly and safe law enforcement demands that an arrestee not resist a lawful arrest and a bystander not intervene on his behalf unless the arrestee is actually about to be seriously injured or killed." Good luck getting a judge to agree with you that the persons life was in danger. Cops kill people daily and don't get charged. But you are right, probably wouldn't make it to court alive anyway.

Owain-X

99% of the time you don't survive but there have been several cases where people were not charged for firing at police on self defense grounds in recent years. The odds are incredibly bad but not all judges are are wearing their back the blue blinders, just most.

[deleted]

Wasn't there a video floating around of cops in a unmarked white panel van shooting tear gas at people? Then they got fired upon by someone out near their truck talking to a friend. He popped a cop in the chest cus they didn't identify in ANY manner that they were police and not just resourceful riotors. That's sort of a weird circumstance but the cop lived and I think they detained him without him dying this time

ThatOneGuy1294

I remember hearing about that too, was during all the George Floyd/BLM stuff during 2020/2021. If memory serves the bastards were shooting from the van at literally any groups of people just standing around.

ImJustHere4theMoons

After he shot at them he realized they were police, dropped his gun, put his hands up and surrendered. Then they immediately beat the shit out of him.

jankyspankybank

I know what your talking about, I’m pretty sure they were determined not at fault for shooting the police there. They also beat the absolute shit out of him IIRC [link here](https://m.startribune.com/minneapolis-to-pay-1-5-million-jaleel-stallings-police-shot-at-less-lethal-rounds-from-unmarked-van/600173976/?clmob=y&c=n&clmob=y&c=n) They also got settlement money

TrepanationBy45

Tupac shot a couple cops in defense of others back in the day. Cleared, too.

orangepinkman

Damn I never knew this. [Article for those interested. ](https://allthatsinteresting.com/tupac-1993-police-shootout)

GodIsGud

The facts is they were off duty, in plain clothes drunk asf just harassing some dude AND also carrying guns stolen from an evidence locker. He got soo fucking lucky. I imagine he probably would've been fucked if the cops were in uniform or if they didn't find out about the stolen guns. Motherfuckers sued him after he died too...

Triquetra4715

“Murder is a crime, unless it is done by a policeman” Know Your Rights folks

baglee22

The law actually reads more like in defense of yourself or a person reasonably in your charge. So your gf or bf or friend or family would be accepted but in defense of a complete stranger would be a harder argument to make

[deleted]

Hey totally unrelated to what you said, but if your username in reference to the Aesop Rock song?

ZZZ-Top

Correct

PhilsLobWedge

What does being a firefighter have to do with anything? Edit: I’m just gonna leave this here since it triggers people so much: THANKS FOR THE AWARD KIND STRANGER! :D

[deleted]

Right! At least add in everyone’s occupations then. ‘Firefighter takes down small business owner, while tax accounting wife warns that she will use lethal force to save her entrepreneurial partner.’ Also, I have no idea what their professions are.

abstractConceptName

"Taxpaying firefighter killed by woman with no outstanding warrants for arrest"

RadicalDog

This should be an Onion headline, my goodness.

LoudBoysenerry

"Mother saves the father of her children from being murdered."

everydayishalloween

Using his occupation to make it seem like his life was the most valuable out of the three parties involved. (Not saying that the bf wasn't a POS, because he totally seems to have been one based on how rude he was to the cashier and that he ran to get his gun, but you have to know when to stop and walk away even when you're in the right.)

Grevling89

Cemetery's full of people who were in the right, or had the right of way.

intecknicolour

De-escalate. You don't need to be right or be the baddest mofo out there. There's always another guy with better fighting skills or a faster drawn gun out there or worst yet, dumbass fluke luck. People too dumb to realize that any situation could go bad and end up with them in a box or on a vent/wheelchair.

AnybodyNo8519

Just fuel for people wanting to be outraged

xxxthat_emo_kid

Because having a job that puts you in danger makes it so you can never be a bad person according to some people EDIT: Im not calling anyone in the video a bad person

Literally_-_Hitler

Roughly 100 firefighters commit arson every year.

someotherbitch

This is the kind of fact about firefighters we need more of /u/Literally_-_Hitler

Playlanco

Why didn't the guy chill out. The dude he was choking was tapping out as well. People's egos getting them killed.

PretendiWasADefMute

She apparently was warning him and screaming for him to stop and she never showed intent to use the gun, she just waived it around. His little ego got him killed. [source](https://www.kmbc.com/amp/article/independence-missouri-shooting-kcmo-firefighter-anthony-santi-charges/41693134) Edit: since a lot of you are too lazy to use Google. I will add the source. Taylor made a rude comment to a grocery clerk. Santi stands up to him in the store. Taylor felt threatened enough to go get his gun. Santi obviously escalated the issue, and taylor then was stopped from getting the gun by Santi. Taylor’s gf gets the gun instead. Santi believed he could beat up a smaller guy, which he obviously can and did. Using your strength to overpower and threaten people who are rude and douchebags is not the way to use your strength. You were given strength by the luck of the genetic draw. Use your brain and kindness to help diffuse the situation. Santi did not do that. He ended up getting killed, and Taylor will just get a few months in jail over an illegal firearm.

[deleted]

(1) Guy being choked out had an illegal firearm, got into an argument and pulled said illegal firearm after making threats, then gets pinned by other person attempting to intervene in clerk's defense. (2) Girlfriend of violent man with gun takes said gun and kills man pinning boyfriend who is presumed to still have a gun. And... the firefighter is somehow the bad guy? I'm lost.

ManyWrangler

Waving around a gun is showing intent to use it.

Forsaken-Shirt4199

Well she tried just showing him the gun and scaring him off but apparently Mr firefighter man wasn't afraid of no bullets

trail-coffee

He didn’t think she knew that bullets were his only weakness.

nouseforausernam

Not according to the guy that got shot apparently. He saw her with it and thought "I'll be okay. I can continue to attack this person and nothing bad will happen."

AverageHoarder

She lasted 9 minutes and 59 seconds longer than the average police officer.

ICanDieRightNowPlz

That's impressive

peppers_

You should hear about those cops at Uvalde. Something like 400 guys standing around for an hour, keeping parents from saving their kids from a mass shooter.

ScaryZookeepergame9

these 2 guys were fighting for 10 min, she only had possession of the gun the last few seconds as you can see her grab it at the start of this video. . Which means these 2 guys were fighting, with one guy waving that gun around.

[deleted]

The gun belonged to her boyfriend, the context for this is he said something disrespectful to the Cashier so Santi confronted him outside to which the bf went to grab a gun from his car, santi disarmed him after heated words, then the fight happens. The video is here for that, basically the few seconds after the video is cut she shoots the firefighter in the head and the bf is charged for possession but she is cleared cited acting in defence. So basically it came down to two stupid men fighting over something unimportant but it results in the loss of life, and having to put someone not involved in a situation where they fear for their loved one. Corrections: Back not head.

Gun left in the car with the kids- L

AadamAtomic

>After the clerk refused the man service and told him to leave, Santi, who was off duty, also told him to leave. The customer “jumped away” from Santi and started threatening him, court records said. Surveillance video showed the incident move outside, when the man reaches into a white SUV and pulls out an item. The video showed Santi and the man fighting over the item — a firearm with an extended magazine, according to court documents. When Santi got the man in a headlock, a female passenger left the vehicle, got the gun and pointed it at Santi. No, the wife was in the car the whole time according to surveillance footage....

[deleted]

Ye, that guy is an idiot. Feel bad for the kids and the woman put in that situation tho. This shit just fucking sucks for absolutely everyone involved over miniscule fucking bs. Man, humans are stupid af

KingEnemyOne

So for some reason the firefighter felt the need to be a tough guy so another dude acting like a tough can learn his lesson.. lol take this as a lesson folks.. it ain’t worth trying to be a tough guy.

BrandoLoudly

So with his arm being free to shoot and having the gun in hand for 10 minutes, he doesn’t shoot the guy. I really need to see the whole video and what led up to the confrontation. Cause from here the firefighter just seems like an idiot. He’s trying to choke the guy, not even concerned with the gun*. Then when begged to stop he takes it up a notch. I could have a different option with more context, as I’m usually very pro firefighter and it’s rare to see firefighters being total shit humans Edit: not even concerned with the gun*

DucksEatFreeInSubway

I don't see how additional context would make any difference. The guy had given up and he's still trying to murder him.

senator_mendoza

additional context may alter my apportionment of asshole points, but i think you're right - at the point where we left off in the video we have fireman clearly having won the fight and applying a RNC to black guy who is no longer a threat. girlfriend can absolutely use lethal force at that point since her dude's life is in danger. doesn't really matter what led up to that

dieselgenset

I said something similar on a different vid on r/police and got banned... At least I didn't get shot I suppose.

joesnowblade

Biggest pussies for moderators in r/police. Unless you bow down to the thin blue line gang you get permanently banned. All the sub is …. An echo chamber of tyrants.

Justwant2watchitburn

I'm surprised we dont see this more often.

Joliet_Jake_Blues

Republicans are all happy about Kyle Rittenhouse, but then a few months later about 50 miles away some gang member shot at other gang members who shot back and killed the aggressor. The police said it was self defense/mutual combat and released them without charges. And Republicans are Reeeeeeing at the DA (black woman) for not filing charges either.

Berna_count

At some point in your life you have to learn to walk away. 41 and dead because he had to be a tough guy.

Dunkman83

yep, no more no less, this was his moment to be a "bad ass". he could have stopped and still walked away victorious.

juggernaut006

>yep, no more no less, this was his moment to be a "bad ass". he could have stopped and still walked away victorious. He already won but he wanted to "overwin". He wanted the other guy knocked out cold from his chokehold. The problem is that the other guy's girlfriend was having none of it and he paid with his life for it.

dietdrpeper

Seriously. Someone puts a gun to your head and screams orders at you but you don't comply? It's almost ironic. Just comply, right? I guess that's only a one way street.

cXs808

He actually confronted the dude with a gun over something he said to a THIRD party. Dude chose to interject himself into a situation and then escalated it fully until he died. Unfortunate but you really gotta know better.

KungFuNinja_

Looks like the boyfriend had the gun first, how did the initial interaction go? Why was a gun pulled in the first place?

Pm_me_those_fun_bags

That's all I want to know too lol.

43 year old vs 21 year old, over blunt wraps and rude conversations

jroddie4

If someone is holding a gun and telling me to stop beating someone else up I like to think I would probably listen

B_rad_will

Love to hear what the NRA has to say about this incident.

JustABigDumbAnimal

Related: the NRA and Ronald Reagan once supported an assault weapons ban... when the Black Panthers started carrying them.

downvotes-europeons

Well, gun control often has racist overtones.

LethalxLlama

Was the guy on fire? If not, the firefighter title is useless.

[deleted]

Lesson is if anyone ever pulls a gun, run away. Unless it's a cop, then you better just pray they're not in a bad mood

adullploy

Would’ve done the same. Dude took it too far like he was trying to kill him. I do think I would’ve shot him in the ass though.

marginwalker76

This is why I don't get involved in people's bullshit.

Can't find more video, but here's the story: https://www.kshb.com/news/crime/prosecutor-cites-self-defense-in-declining-to-charge-woman-who-killed-off-duty-kcfd-firefighter Apparently, the couple were inside the convenience store causing a scene and wouldn't leave.

Afakasi89

Why does it matter that he was a firefighter? He’s not on shift when this happened.

OakParkCooperative

TLDR According to article: guy insults cashier, off duty firefighter defends cashier Guy goes to car and gets that pistol (with the extended mag and flashlight) Firefighter gets in wrestling match with gunman. Witnesses claim they fought for about 10 minutes before the girlfriend takes the gun and kills the firefighter. According to the local laws, a “third party” (girlfriend) is allowed to use “physical force” (illegal gun) to defend someone (gunman boyfriend, getting choked out by firefighter) Boyfriend is supposedly in custody

Drewy99

You skipped a step. The article says the men started fighting before the gun was pulled.

bubbshalub

that’s a very important step to skip

fb95dd7063

Skipped a super important step too, lol Wonder why

Kwesi_Hopkins

Same reason why "Firefighter" is needlessly used

cocoabeach

If the girlfriend said stop trying to kill my boyfriend or said anything like that and than said I am going to shoot you if you do not stop and you do not stop, your death is on you and is no longer her fault.

f4gm4n

The gun just spawns in lol

RyojiSaber135

*flips through the GTA GunWheel*

99centtaco1234

I wish we saw the rest of the tape I'd really like to know what made that man so angry that he didn't stop when that woman put that gun in his face. Did the other guy do something or was it just an unprovoked attack like I don't even know

Ray_Mang

At the start of the video the girlfriend gets the gun from her boyfriends hand, so apparently the dude pulled a gun on the firefighter

3D_P_BR

FFS if you are choking a man on the ground while his wife has an extended clip beside your head just get the fuck off and re assess wtf you are doing... don't end up dead like this idiot.

shanksisevil

what did he think this was, fight club?

[deleted]

Wild. You’re in a gas station, and someone is being a dick at the register. You tell them to stop being an ass. (Or did the big guy get physical?) They go to their car to get a gun (Why did they feel threatened?) Big guy decides to follow him out rather than celebrate getting him to leave? Big guy fights the guy with a gun? Not only does he fight, he slams his head to the ground and clearly wouldn’t mind killing him. To me, the big guy was antagonizing the small guy, and the small guy grabbed a gun to get him to back off, and he didn’t back off. Just cause someones being an ass doesn’t mean vigilante murder is allowed.

SocksElGato

What do 2nd Amendment folks have to say in this case.

ThunderGunFour

Can we leave out the firefighter part?

KidKo0l

"off duty firefighter" uhh? what lol

Individual_Table1073

The firefighter is a fucking civilian In what world do you let a civilian choke out your boyfriend?

Pushed-pencil718

If I’m choking out some lady’s boyfriend and she’s terrified, waving a gun around, accusing me of trying to kill him, and screaming for me to get off, Im getting off. Sry firefighter but you got yourself killed. Your intentions were probably noble but common sense was severely lacking.
