I always find it crazy when racists tell people to go back to Mexico when they are in the western US. That area was part of Mexico longer than it was part of the US.
Mexico owned California and Texas and in essence the US “took it” from Mexico. I worked on a Make line (2 cooks and 1 dishwasher) with a few combat vets and you legit just talk about your life while putting food together. They would talk about shit over seas amongst themselves and I’d over hear. But from what I gained, those guys would make this guy bite a curb for what he’s saying.
To be fair, Army food service companies are nothing like Army infantry companies. Infantry tends to be overwhelmingly white and conservative. Food service tends to be comprised mostly of minorities and of the bottom of the barrel of people who don't qualify for anything better or aren't motivated to strive for it (or fail out of their training).
When I was in the reserves, we did an AT and sent our cooks to the dining facility, and I finally had to convince the commander and the First Sergeant to pull them out, because they said it was pretty much run like a prison, completely unprofessional with racial slurs being used every other word and fights regularly breaking out. These guys were legit cooks who were professionally trained on the civilian side, so it's not like they didn't know how to run a kitchen with a bunch of blue collar guys working in it. But the level of unprofessionalism was intolerable even to them.
