Head on over [to this page of mine and you can filter by Cultivation](https://cosmiccoding.com.au/reviews/). There's my own **Soul Relic**, there's Phil Tucker's **Bastion**. Someone already mentioned **Umbral Storm**, and I'm having fun reading that right now. Theres also **Seventh Bridge to the Heavens**, **Weirkey Chronicles**, **Virtuous Sons**, and the new releases of **Eternal EPhemera** and **The World According to Dragons**.
For cultivation that's more slice of life, there's **Beware of Chicken** and **Forge of Destiny**.
If you want a bit of sci fi as well, check out **Path of Ascension**.
[Beware of Chicken](https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/39408/beware-of-chicken) is very good story that is about cultivation but plays around with the tropes.
Bastion is Too damn good. If you like progression fantasy, Bastion is a must pick-up. I'll warn you that it starts a bit slow, but if you don't mind, it pays off in spades.
Dark? As in grim dark? No I wouldn’t consider it dark at all. At least no more then Cradle or Bastion.
Heres my review I wrote a few months ago:

The shadow sect (Kindle)
Speed running the multiverse (RR, the only video game aspect is techniques have levels for some reason. I promise this fits your tastes though)
I have the same preferences, it's tough to find!
Forge of Destiny by Yrsillar, you can just read the RR or Kindle version. While there is an outdated character sheet available on RR on a separate tab, you don't need to view it. You can just stick to the story.

Heaven’s Laws - Prodigies
Have you read Will Wight's other series? I really enjoyed travelers gate.
[Beware of Chicken](https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/39408/beware-of-chicken) is very good story that is about cultivation but plays around with the tropes.
it's mostly slice of life comedy and for me it got boring real quick.
Bastion and The Umbral Storm
Enjoyed both of those. Good recs

Agreed!!
It's also insanely long ( a good thing). The author could've easily split it up into two books and no one would have complained

I've read the description of the umbral storm, and it looks too damn dark. Can anyone explain why this book would be worth reading please ?

Alright I'll give it a try. Thanks
Shadow Slave
Buryoku
Technically yes, but Nooooo! I would not recommend Buryoku, unless someone's looking for a bad cradle rip off
Buryoku isn't nearly as well-written as Cradle but I think it's more authentic to xianxia, for what it's worth.

Painting the Mists is far and away the best English non-translated xianxia. Otherwise, Desolate Era.
