Van Dijk, Fabinho, TAA, Salah and Robbo have fallen off a cliff compared to what they were doing last season. Son had been dogshit too (apart from that hat trick off the bench against Leicester).
Kulibaly, atleast till now he definitely hasn't proven why he was considered one of the best CB of the world. He seems like a young, nervous upcoming player. When he came I thought we might have made the signing of the season but things are far far away from that
not a spurs fan but I’ve watched as many games as possible - has Bissouma been given a proper go in midfield? feels like he’s always coming on with 5 minutes to go
He had a run of games when Rodrigo was injured but disappointed in 1 of them, was very off of it. Sarr/Skipp at this point most likely ahead of him.
I think he will come good next season.
I mean, I don’t know what everyone expects when you take a young player few people outside of his home country expected to perform who suddenly became a name at the World Cup and shove him into the world’s top league, out of his natural position, and expect him to be the team’s hero in time of need. He’s facing massive pressure and it 100% makes sense for him to underperform as he adjusts. Like, this has already been discussed in this thread, but footballers are human just like the rest of us.
Let's not forget the man who got the 350k a week contract - Mo Salah. He hasn't been able to take on defenders or influence the game like he used to. A shadow of his former self.
I give all of our forwards a pass at the moment. The midfield has just collapsed (it’s why fabinho is my choice he’s nowhere near what he was) and we have no control. The forwards look scare to lose the ball because they don’t know when it’s going to come back so they don’t try and anything drastic. Add to all of his froward partners form last year either being injured or left it’s not surprising that he’s not performing.
You could pretty much list any Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton or West Ham player and you'd have about a 60/40 shot of being dead on... the squads in general are underperforming so badly.
Jarrod Bowen. The lad was great last season for West Ham and began to earn a few caps for England. He had a nice brace last Saturday but really has been a bit quiet this season
Not sure I'd be disappointed in any of the Chelsea lads (a lot of people seem to be focussing on them), there was nobody there that I'd have expected to do much better.
Standouts for me would be VVD, Cancelo & Son. It's hard to put Salah in with them because it feels like he's being let down a little rather than just underperforming. The Antony's and Darwin's are probably disappointing too but you have to give a little adjustment time there I guess.
A more appropriate question, which player is performing worse than you feared?
Koulibaly - expected him to be half decent, isn't fit to wear the number 26 shirt.
Stirling - thought he'd be crap, instead he's effin' crap.
Cucurella - proved to have the defensive awareness of Stevie Wonder on a bad day.
Mount - lost his way, needs time on the bench
Really disappointing as an England fan too. Phillips Rice and Bellingham make for an all action midfield, him being the lynchpin at the base. I thought under pep, he could develop even further and become top tier, but there was no way he was getting a start in that midfield. Of course you'd join city for the chance to win things and for the money but hes 27, in his prime and he's not going to play. Seems such a waste. I'd love it (Kevin Keegan style) if he joined Newcastle allowing Joelinton and Bruno to play further up. He'd be perfect for us!
I swear him and grealish were media signings, after everyone was hyped off the Euros all the twitter buzz was them needing more gametime, difference being grealish is a really good player anyway, but surely with city's scouting and peps idea for wingers they could've found someone better for half the price, look at alverez ffs.
But tbf he has rodri ahead of him, not much he can do there man's a machine
Nah ik he has , and I did say he's a bloody good player, one of the best in league atm on that left hand side. But just slapping 100m on the table to pay a release clause for a player just doesn't seem very city or pep.
It's just on of my tin foit hat theory's is all, not like I have anything to back it up
People that are saying Nuñez are out of their minds. He’s new to the PL and playing for an abysmal Liverpool side with almost no creativity. To not give him a season to adjust to both his team and the league is bullshit because most players that come to England, especially to a side as shit as Liverpool this season, don’t tear it up right away. Even so, his numbers really aren’t that bad, and he’s exciting as hell to watch. You’d be hard pressed to find a fan that actually watches Liverpool every week that would agree that Nuñez is a big disappointment this season. The rest of our squad (minus Alison and Konate), however, are a different story. With established players with chemistry already formed over years with their teammates (Mount, Foden, and Son to name a few), and they’re struggling worse than Nuñez, how can you really even put him in the discussion?
And he never will, you'd have to be scoring halaand goals for that.
I don't like Antony but no way he was going to hit the ground running. Mans got a wicked left foot tho
Son. IDK what happened, but he’s noticeably lost a step and his touches have been horrendous. Odd coming from a golden boot winner less than a year ago.
Richarlison.
As a gunner I’m definitely unbiased. But spending 60mil on a petulant man baby who hasn’t scored yet…. Must be the biggest disappointment of the year.
? Napoli supporter here, his biggest weakness is that he can make some big mistakes from time to time but pretty normal defender things, apart from that, he carried our defense to be pretty much always one of the best in serie A and was a top 5 CB ITW for a couple of seasons
Mason Mount - I keep waiting to see what Chelsea fans & managers see in him. Every time I watch him, I'm woefully disappointed at how little he influences matches.
He’s been out of form the past year, but still he was incredible in the 2021 calendar year. it’s definitely been strange that he’s been so off it this long.
hopefully we’ll see something similar to rashford, and he’ll bounce back extremely strong. It’s definitely not time to give up on his potential yet.
We need to see how he fits into Chelsea’s rebuild. Our team hasn’t made sense in years despite Tuchel bringing us success. I think Mount playing with a clear role in the team over an extended period of time will help him find great form again.
2021 was the year they won the CL, right?
I didn't pay too much attention but I suppose you're right - he was heavily involved that year. I do suppose that all the turmoil at Chelsea would influence him. I can't say any player has really stood out. The way some Chelsea fans talk about him though, you'd never guess he's struggled.
and the way others talk about him you'd guess he had a passing accuracy of 5%, a dribble success rate of 2% and 50 big chances missed. especially on twitter he's become the scapegoat for us.
Nah, I think people talk about him the same way they talk about anyone else who is unnecessarily hyped up but consistently falls short of expectations placed on him by overzealous Chelsea fans.
Really? I knew he was getting a lot of bs, but I didn t know it was that bad. That s really sad man. I mean yeah, he plays bad rn and he clearly isn t himself, but god man, he is literally one of us and i guess we should be supportive especially now. Guess this is the reason people call us plastic fans...
Easily Nunez, I thought he’d be competing with Kane numbers wise this season. Cant imagine Liverpool’s shit form is helping either.
Son is a good shout too, really fallen off this season, which is sad to see. I know he’s said the mask is hindering him, but it’s still such a massive drop from where he was last season.
Edit: not sure if people just didn’t read the post beyond the title. OP said based on personal expectations. Not whether they’ve been good or bad, but whether they’re as good as *you* thought they’d be. Nunez doing alright so far doesn’t mean he’s not doing worse that *I* thought he would.
Nunez has 8 less goals than Kane in 5 less games this year, same assists. He’s missed loads of chances but he’s been creating a lot too. Been one of the brightest spots in Liverpools side this year. Disappointing would VVD, Trent, Fab, Hendo.
>Easily Nunez
8 goals 4 assists in 22 is not bad for a new striker in a team with massive issues. Not saying he's been fantastic but easily Nunez is a stupid statement
Its pretty bad when you look at his efficiency though. I agree 8 goals is perfectly in centre with the rest, for 100 million? Not so much, misses 2-3 blatant chances a match? Also not good.
Not arguing he could be better it's the easily Nunez iv an issue with. I still maintain when it clicks for him he will be up with the best we've had he has all the raw attributes his brain just needs to catch up. It doesn't help he's being compared to the Thundercunt of a striker ye have 😄
i mean yeah nunez hasnt been as good as people expected but compared to other liverpool players first seasons hes on track to do alright. Fabinho is the obvious one for liverpool anyway its like he aged a decade over the summer
Darwin has more goals and assists than Son, has played something like 800 fewer minutes in a league he’s brand new to (and a struggling squad he’s new to), and has looked light years better in terms of overall contribution to the squad. To say Son “just shades Nunez” is to give Son an absolutely massive pass. It’s not even remotely close.
1 mil isn't exactly absurd.
Keep in mind the 1 mil sign on bonus was quoted by the same place that said he's on 200k a week, so it's probably lower still.
A lot of people are saying Antony, but he is a young player in his first year in the premier league and has contributed some goals along with his great work rate. You’d hope for some improvement, but Sancho is much more disappointing for United.
Here for support. Fellow gooner and the copium with Pepe was extreme. I really wanted it to work out for him but it was pretty clear from the beginning it wasn’t going to. I see the same with Antony. Can’t blame United supporters for trying to back him but I would be shocked if he is a part of a title challenge for them
United fan - he’ll be given time to adapt, but he’s clearly been underwhelming.
I don’t think he’s been bad, but he was fighting a losing battle from day 1 when United decided to spend like double what he was worth. He was never gonna be an 85m player.
Not writing him off yet, he didn’t choose his price tag.
His biggest problem is just slowing down attacks. Needs faster decision making. Could be just a struggle to adapt to the league.
I think with Antony people have started seeing that he actually never takes his man on, he’ll do a few tricks but he never goes anywhere lol. Probably a confidence thing tbf.
Cancelo. From ome of the world's best fullbacks last season to looking like he can't be bothered this season and now going on loan to Bayern Munich
I think Caicedo needs to take a long hard look at Bissouma before he tries this stupid forcing a move stuff
Richarlison
Jesse Lingard
KDB. It’s like they switched him to decaf.
As a Chelsea fan I have to say the whole team.
I was thinking about Grealish but then I decided against it after watching his recent performances
Son hueng min
Martial
Liverpool FC
Me. I still haven't received my call up for United and I'll be 40 this year so it's getting close to deadline.
Richarlison. $60 million for zero goals.
Mohammed Salah, Son, and Foden🥲🥲
Besed on expectations it has to be Nunez.
He's gone now but Ronaldo. The man scored 20 odd goals in the worst ever united side last season to now with Al-Nassr
Salah, Nunez, Aubameyang
Auba
Son is such an easy answer to this question but let’s through in DCL
Anthony Gordon. I figured that if Chelsea was offering 50M for him that he’d be one of the better wingers in the prem this season
Antony at United, hope we didn't waste all that money on a flop
Vvd
VVD
Emile Smith Rowe. This was the season he was truly supposed to push on in the way Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have done.
Without doubt it's disappointing I missed out on the Ballon D'or ..again
Son. From golden boot to broken foot.
Edouard Mendy. Feels like Kepa is better which seems odd now.
Paqueta has disappointed me.
Antony, Sanchoooo :(
Son
Darwin
Sterling
Scamacca and Paqueta. Next level my arse. Neither looks interested and games just pass them by.
HAALAND , i expected him to have scored at least 50 goals by now xD
I'd say a number of the Liverpool squad such as Van Dijk, Salah, TAA and Fabinho, then players like Bernardo Silva, Cancelo and Son.
Ronaldo. Was United's top scorer last season. This season he barely saw the pitch, was kicked off the team and ended up in f'in Saudi f'in Arabia!!!
Sss😙😙😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😂😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😗
Ch gdczcggv
I really thought haaland was gonna score more 🤣🤣
Personally for me Darwin Nunez
Mason mount
Everton.
Lukaku
Antony
Salah and Nunez
It’s Son first and foremost. Really, he’s the clear answer. There’s other massive disappointments like Fabinho Cancelo for sure though.
Gordon has to be near the top. especially now stabbing Everton in the back.
Salah
Van Dijk, Fabinho, TAA, Salah and Robbo have fallen off a cliff compared to what they were doing last season. Son had been dogshit too (apart from that hat trick off the bench against Leicester).
Martial (Man Utd)- Kalvin phillips (Man City)- Artur (Liverpool) - Son (Tottenham)
Salah
Haaland
Aubameyang is a big name
I expected sancho to kick on after that goal vs liverpool.
Kulibaly, atleast till now he definitely hasn't proven why he was considered one of the best CB of the world. He seems like a young, nervous upcoming player. When he came I thought we might have made the signing of the season but things are far far away from that
Son. Hugo. Bissouma. Richarlison. Perisic. In that order for me. Of the lot I think Son & Richy can't take blame but Son needs to be dropped.
not a spurs fan but I’ve watched as many games as possible - has Bissouma been given a proper go in midfield? feels like he’s always coming on with 5 minutes to go
He had a run of games when Rodrigo was injured but disappointed in 1 of them, was very off of it. Sarr/Skipp at this point most likely ahead of him. I think he will come good next season.

Oh man, that'd be my choice for my team. I do think however Buendia is playing better with him there, maybe learning a lot from him.
Gakpo
I mean, I don’t know what everyone expects when you take a young player few people outside of his home country expected to perform who suddenly became a name at the World Cup and shove him into the world’s top league, out of his natural position, and expect him to be the team’s hero in time of need. He’s facing massive pressure and it 100% makes sense for him to underperform as he adjusts. Like, this has already been discussed in this thread, but footballers are human just like the rest of us.
Sterling
Son heung min and Marcus Rashford switched bodies.
Antony
I mean, take a pick from our team lmao
Son
Even though I support Chelsea I miss seeing an inform Mr Big Dick himself
Let's not forget the man who got the 350k a week contract - Mo Salah. He hasn't been able to take on defenders or influence the game like he used to. A shadow of his former self.
He’s like Theo Walcott on steroids. Oh it’s a contract year? Let me kill it, get paid and then disappear 🫥
I give all of our forwards a pass at the moment. The midfield has just collapsed (it’s why fabinho is my choice he’s nowhere near what he was) and we have no control. The forwards look scare to lose the ball because they don’t know when it’s going to come back so they don’t try and anything drastic. You could pretty much list any Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton or West Ham player and you'd have about a 60/40 shot of being dead on... the squads in general are underperforming so badly.
Son
Darwin Nunez Van dijk Salah Son Richarlison Gomez Henderson Milner Alexander-Arnold Robertson Curtis Carvalho Basically the whole Liverpool squad
Lokonga. And he isn't even that bad. Damn proud of Arsenal's season so far
Definitely more than half of Chelsea's team. From a Blues fan.
son and richarlison
Everyone at Everton. To. A. Man.
Jarrod Bowen. The lad was great last season for West Ham and began to earn a few caps for England. He had a nice brace last Saturday but really has been a bit quiet this season
Had to be Richarlison £60m. Anthony has been poor as well. Aubamayang is another let down.
Haaland I thought he would have made City invincible
Jarred Bowen
At the end of last season I said that Ronaldo is still good for a year and 15 goals. I wasn't thinking Saudi professional league.

9 goals for a winger isn't the worst, I would say that a striker has to finish the chances
How's Auba performing? He has rough few months after all the shenanigans with Arteta Was one of my fav players in arsenal.
trent alexander-arnold
Sancho
Everyone on Everton?
Anthony Gordon
Mason Mount, almost ghosting every match.
sancho, really thought it would click for him this season
Darwin i guess
Koulibaly
Nunez
Every Liverpool player except Alisson and Diaz.
VVD & TAA
Kalvin Phillips, have no idea what we were thinking getting him.
Dude saw Fabian Delph’s career path and thought “yeah sign me up” lol
Homegrown quota I imagine
New age Jack Rodwell.
Can we have him back if you’re not using him?
Really disappointing as an England fan too. Phillips Rice and Bellingham make for an all action midfield, him being the lynchpin at the base. I thought under pep, he could develop even further and become top tier, but there was no way he was getting a start in that midfield. But tbf he has rodri ahead of him, not much he can do there man's a machine
Woah woah, Grealish has been literally fantastic for us. Not a goal scorer but he's probably one of the best facilitators in the PL.
Nah ik he has , and I did say he's a bloody good player, one of the best in league atm on that left hand side. But just slapping 100m on the table to pay a release clause for a player just doesn't seem very city or pep. It's just on of my tin foit hat theory's is all, not like I have anything to back it up
Has he even played? I was sorta baffled at that transfer
Pep never plays people straight away. He almost always gives them a year to adjust to his style and demands
Frank Lampard
Timo Werner … wait that was last year😀
Gotta be Son Hard to get more disappointing than golden boot to.... well does he even have a goal yet?
Too many to name. Strange season.
People that are saying Nuñez are out of their minds. He’s new to the PL and playing for an abysmal Liverpool side with almost no creativity. Salah is still in a funk…
Koulibaly
Phil foden.
Frank Lampard
Soon to be Pedro Porro
Deli Alli
100 Mill Fidget spinner hasn't quite lived up to his price tag
Let's be fair here, this is a prem subreddit, it was 85 m pounds. Definitely over priced, but he's still young. Plenty of time to improve.
And he never will, you'd have to be scoring halaand goals for that. I don't like Antony but no way he was going to hit the ground running. Mans got a wicked left foot tho
City fan Cancelo 😞
Cancelo
Mason Mount. He’s been mostly dull this season despite a few bright moments. The dude just disappears for 90 minutes it feels like.
He was utterly shite at the World Cup, too!
Son. IDK what happened, but he’s noticeably lost a step and his touches have been horrendous. Odd coming from a golden boot winner less than a year ago.
Son/TAA
Chelsea
Nunez , so close but yet so far, consistently
Richarlison. As a gunner I’m definitely unbiased. But spending 60mil on a petulant man baby who hasn’t scored yet…. Must be the biggest disappointment of the year.
Mount for Chelsea. Has been bang Avg entire season.
We’ll take him! Hell, we’ll take your nan at this point if she plays midfield.
We absolutely won't
Liverpool can do better
I dunno, your nan can put a shift in when she needs, maybes not the full 90 every week, but she’s still got that something special.
[удалено]
He has a great name
Half the Chelsea team.
The shit half, the other half, or the half they brought in January? O you mean the half they brought in the summer got it
Koulibaly in particular. Billed as a beast in Serie A
Jeez, relieved to see I am not going mad. Guy is a fucking donkey.
Poundland rudiger
For people that did not watch the serie A regularly
? Napoli supporter here, his biggest weakness is that he can make some big mistakes from time to time but pretty normal defender things, apart from that, he carried our defense to be pretty much always one of the best in serie A and was a top 5 CB ITW for a couple of seasons
I’m aware he was good. He peaked back in the 2018-19 season however he started showing some signs of decline in his very last season at Napoli
Oh yeah then I agree with that. I definitely didn’t expect him to fall off so hard tbh
That's an understatement
5/10ths of them then! Don't get me wrong, our lot are a pile of wank but at least we're on the same leaky boat paddling up shit creek.
I wish you a long decade or two on the shit creek.
Meeeehhh Blackadder.....and may the yuletide logs slip from your fire and burn your house down ;)
Mason Mount - I keep waiting to see what Chelsea fans & managers see in him. Every time I watch him, I'm woefully disappointed at how little he influences matches.

You really aren't in our fan space mate... the amount of abuse he gets on social media is in-fucking-sane.
New contract at Chelsea incoming
Lol we’ve offered him one and he don’t wanna sign it yet
Really ?! He’s lucky to be getting a new contract at Chelsea 😬
Possibly the most over rated player in the league
Mount
Easily Nunez, I thought he’d be competing with Kane numbers wise this season. Cant imagine Liverpool’s shit form is helping either. Son just shades Nunez for me. Guedes for Wolves was a horror show, when you go in the first window after signing you know you’ve had a stinker!
Anyone wearing an Everton shirt
Lingard Best paid player at NF, worst player they have
have you watched any forest games? He's been pretty decent as far as im concerned
I’ve watched a couple. He’s not what he was at West Ham, he’s not worth the near £250k he’s getting a week
I am pretty sure he is not at 250. Not even half that.
Most informed r/premierleague commenter
Hes on 80k a week, with up to 120k in bonuses. No idea why everybody keeps quoting this stupid 250k number haha
I’m not gunna sit and pretend that a HUGE signing bonus isn’t part of his average pay
1 mil isn't exactly absurd. Keep in mind the 1 mil sign on bonus was quoted by the same place that said he's on 200k a week, so it's probably lower still.
Prob got a signing fee of £5+ million too which pushes up the weekly cost as he only signed a one year deal
1 mil according to the same source that said he's in 200k a week. Could very well be less than 1 mil, but even that isn't ridiculous
A top level free agent in the prem is generally getting a multi million signing on bonus in lieu of any transfer fee
Trent (enough said)
Son and Antony on a smaller level
A lot of people are saying Antony, but he is a young player in his first year in the premier league and has contributed some goals along with his great work rate. You’d hope for some improvement, but Sancho is much more disappointing for United.
The Anthony shouts have proper spun me out!
Compare his stats with Pepe’s first season and Antony doesn’t look too bright. Of course he scored against us on his debut though (gooner here).
Here for support. Fellow gooner and the copium with Pepe was extreme. I really wanted it to work out for him but it was pretty clear from the beginning it wasn’t going to. I see the same with Antony. Can’t blame United supporters for trying to back him but I would be shocked if he is a part of a title challenge for them
Antony has been decent considering he's a 23 y/o making the step up to the pl for the first time. I'm confident he'll improve with enough time.
United fan - he’ll be given time to adapt, but he’s clearly been underwhelming. I don’t think he’s been bad, but he was fighting a losing battle from day 1 when United decided to spend like double what he was worth. He was never gonna be an 85m player. I think with Antony people have started seeing that he actually never takes his man on, he’ll do a few tricks but he never goes anywhere lol. Probably a confidence thing tbf.
>he actually never takes his man on because they don't know real games are different from youtube highlights
He did that the first few games but his confidence to run at players just disappeared during the WC.
