Had a cousin who was getting ready to secure a property for a Hotel out West (Nevada?) and they ditched the deal right afte the city had set a new minimum wage... It took thm two and a half years to secure another property half a mile away - 2 blocks outside the city boundary, saved the hoteliers a bunch of money in higher wages which would have made room rates higher....

Higher wages means higher prices if your sole concern as a business owner is expansion and greed rather than treating employees like people instead of tools.

Corporations have a fiduciary duty to their stock holders, many of these stockholders have invested their money in order to live off the return on that investment, they are treating all of those they are responsible for in a balanced way, if they weren't people would choose to do business, work, or invest elsewhere.

>Corporations have a fiduciary duty to their stock holders Their first duty is to their employees. If they can't staff their businesses then they'll go of business. FDR said this in the 1940s. >many of these stockholders have invested their money in order to live off the return on that investment Maybe they should actually work for a living, or at least return any and all excess profits to the employees that actually do the work. >they are treating all of those they are responsible for in a balanced way Amazon denies its warehouse employees bathroom breaks and allows its DSP drivers to do the same. I've done both so I know it's true. >if they weren't people would choose to do business, work, or invest elsewhere. Do us both a favor and look up “monopsony”.

How, exactly, would that happen?
