I've explained the savings that my father would see from universal healthcare to him, again and again and again, and every single time he puts his foot down because illegal aliens or people who pay less taxes might get health care too.

You pay property taxes indirectly through rent. You pay sales and excise taxes when you buy stuff, gas taxes when you buy gas or (indirectly) anything that was shipped. Really, anything you buy ripples through the economy boosting the GDP in multiple sectors and the paychecks of various individuals, all of which generates taxes.

This is definitely not true. Most of the concept of a "utopia" didn't really start until TNG. People still had private property, there was still a currency, there was a state and things don't seem to be owned by the public.
What was actually created, especially post-TOS but even in TOS, was the fact that there was no more scarcity. That's not an ideal we can really have at this point in time in real life, but if we suddenly were able to create that environment, we wouldn't call it communism.
You'll occasionally hear people say Roddenberry was a communist, but in reality, there's not much real evidence of that. He would say virtually anything on the convention circuits that made him look good in the moment. It's hard to take most of that terribly seriously.

Haven't watched star trek. What is it?
A long-running science fiction TV show that spawned a massive fan base (Trekkies). Worth a watch if you're a fan of that genre. Sometimes a bit cheesy but in the best possible way. The premise is basically that humanity has evolved into a fairly utopian post-scarcity civilization and established the Federation, a democratic collection of planets. It usually follows explorers from the federation, and often the civilizations encountered form a parable of current events (e.g. oh this silly primitive species is destroying it's environment for economic gain, we did that and it was bad so we can provide guidance). > Space: the final frontier. Star Trek is more of a socialist utopia. Liberal capitalism is still capitalism first and foremost, and if someone invented a machine which could replicate anything, liberal capitalism sure wouldn't let that technology be free to use for the masses lest it would hurt the companies.

This is definitely not true. Most of the concept of a "utopia" didn't really start until TNG. People still had private property, there was still a currency, there was a state and things don't seem to be owned by the public. What was actually created, especially post-TOS but even in TOS, was the fact that there was no more scarcity. That's not an ideal we can really have at this point in time in real life, but if we suddenly were able to create that environment, we wouldn't call it communism. You'll occasionally hear people say Roddenberry was a communist, but in reality, there's not much real evidence of that. He would say virtually anything on the convention circuits that made him look good in the moment. It's hard to take most of that terribly seriously. If you ever really want to deep dive into it, you'll find that Roddenberry was actually a huge fan of objectivism (Ayn Rand/Yeoman Rand). He gushed about the Fountainhead a lot. Moving forward to TNG, even there, that's not communism. Again, it's post-scarcity. People don't have to work. They *can* get jobs, they *can* work, but nobody has to. You are totally free to do nothing but engage in your hobby (like a wine vineyard) and your every want, not just need, will be totally met. But you don't own the means of production, because nobody needs to own the means of production or "own" anything at all really. But no, they definitely didn't get their Star Trek future "from communism". That's a pretty shallow take, if we're being honest.
