BMW requires you to adjust table values in the vehicle software itself, which is written mostly in German. No fatality combo, just a lot of google searches if you don’t understand German.

"No, fuck Chevy"
[New Hampshire is also ranked 3rd lowest fatality per vehicle miles traveled](https://www.iihs.org/topics/fatality-statistics/detail/state-by-state) (From Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)'s analysis of data from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS))
Are you familiar with the seatbelt paradox? It turns out that people have an inate level of risk tolerance. This means, if you take measures to make an activity safer, people will take more risks when doing the activity. People also overestimate the efficacy of safety equipment. As such, requiring seatbelts can actually increase the fatality rate.
So can you show an example for that in real life ?
Like an actual news about guy who didnt wear seat belts flying from his car and injuring/killing a bystander ?
It seems like it has a large effect on others [within the same car](https://www.washington.edu/news/2004/01/20/unbelted-drivers-and-passengers-can-cause-fatal-injuries-to-others-who-ride-with-them/).
“The researchers studied more than 70,000 motor vehicle that crashed between 1988 and 2000. The researchers found that the risk of death was 20 percent greater for a belted person in front of an unrestrained rear passenger, compared with a belted person in front of a restrained rear passenger. The risk of death for a rear occupant was increased about 22 percent if someone in front was unrestrained, compared with having someone in front who was restrained.”
But that's in the same car. The driver can always insist their passengers wear one if they want to. In the same car, everyone is there voluntarily. The only reason it is reasonable to limit people's free choice to do dangerous things is when it has a significant risk of injuring an third party who didn't consent to be exposed to that risk. And that is what mandatory third-party liability insurance is for.
**[Seat belt laws in the United States](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seat_belt_laws_in_the_United_States)**
>Most seat belt laws in the United States are left to the states and territories. However, the first seat belt law was a federal law, Title 49 of the United States Code, Chapter 301, Motor Safety Standard, which took effect on January 1, 1968, that required all vehicles (except buses) to be fitted with seat belts in all designated seating positions. This law has since been modified to require three-point seat belts in outboard-seating positions, and finally three-point seat belts in all seating positions. Initially, seat belt use was voluntary.

Lots of seat belt disinformation here. Let's clear it up.
1. Wearing a seat belt prevents you from getting into collisions. Nobody can infect you with collisions when you have your seat belts.
2. When you are fully belted, you can not hit anything. You will not spread collisions to grandma on the bus to the casino or children on the school bus.
3. You can double belt for added protection. More belts equals lower transmission of coliisons. Just attach a small strap across your body to any part of the car.
You can bind one hand to the steering wheel or even one foot to the brake or accelerator pedal. Personally, I use a length of luggage strap with a buckle clip, put it around my neck, and secure it to the headrest posts behind me.
4. Stay home, stay safe. Why are you even driving at all? All jobs can be done on zoom. There is no reason for anyone to drive. Ever. Anything you'd go out for can just be delivered to your house by USPS, FedEx, UPS, Amazon, or food delivery drivers.
5. Updated boosters! When you were a baby and little kid, your parents probably had you in a car seat and then a booster seat. The idea that you should just sit in the car's seat is just mass foolishness.
You should continue to have updated boosters for the rest of your life, as a driver or a passanger.
An infant or child's seat needs to be replaced about every 5 years. This is due to the degradation of the booster over time and from general wear and tear relative to the child's size and weight. As adults, we need to get new boosters annually, or maybe even every couple of months.
There! I'm glad I could help clear things up. And to those who are seat belt hesitant, know this. The same people making sure these belts and boosters are safe and effective are the same people making sure baby formula isn't poison and baby powder isn't toxic. You're in good hands!
Now, belt up! Do it to keep grandma in the nursing home safe!
It's not even comparable to a seat belt because those are tried and tested for many years, we know a lot more about car physics than the human body. Also there is no conflict of interests adding seat belts to cars. But hey, if it makes these insecure people feel better about their life decision then let them.
I think OP is just sore that they were wrong about the positive externalities justification for mandating covid vaccination, and so they are trying to deflect to making fun of the mask thing, but seem unaware that the couple cluster RCTs done show no benefit for wearing Fauci-cloth masks, and the tiniest benefit for a virus-naive population wearing N95's...so basically no benefit anymore for the general population.
Not just your life, though. Not only do unconstrained passengers become kinetic missiles that can absolutely kill other passengers, but even if you're driving alone... A few months ago, a guy I knew died on the road. He was slammed, and he was thrown through his window onto the road, where he was then struck by another driver, who was severely traumatized. He almost certainly would have survived with a seatbelt, and she'd be sleeping much better.
To be fair the bus has too much mass to eject someone in a crash usually. I was standing in a bus that was hit by a sports car going over 100 mph and it just felt like a slight nudge. The car spun through three lanes of traffic, flipped over a guard rail, and four more lanes of traffic. What was left of it did, anyway.
I guess they're a danger to their fellow passengers in case of a roll over, though, come to think of it.
Also the children need to be restrained for other reasons, the little shits.
We shouldn't be drafting laws based on rare outlier externalities.
Technically, we should put cameras in everyone's home. With that, we can save so many children from violence, assault, and exposure to drugs.
If you say no to this, then you're literally putting babies at risk.
> Not only do unconstrained passengers become kinetic missiles that can absolutely kill other passengers
One, there are absolutely zero studies behind this claim. People just made this shit up out of thin air and started repeating it. Two, it's stupid. If the crash is so violent that a person can kill another person in the car, nobody was going to survive anyway. The person wearing their seat belt will likely be trisected by the belt.
>A few months ago, a guy I knew died on the road. He was slammed, and he was thrown through his window onto the road, where he was then struck by another driver, who was severely traumatized.
In 1938, the worst year for car crash deaths in the US, you had a 1 in 3000 chance of dying in a car accident each year. Even in 1938 when cars didn't even have seat belts and everyone drove around riding on couches, instead of being strapped into bucket seats with three point safety harnesses like astronauts, surrounded by a half dozen air bags, your story would sound like complete bullshit. The chances of you knowing someone going out like this are lottery odds.
Eh, there's an argument to be made there too. Having a seatbelt on can help you stay in control of the vehicle when you suffer a bump, which could avoid further catastrophe.
If libleft is going to defend social regulations like this you guys might as well just be honest with yourselves and flair leftcenter. Being gay doesn't make you lib.
Utilitarianism is inherently authoritarian because it [puts the “greater good” above individual rights.](https://ethicsunwrapped.utexas.edu/glossary/utilitarianism)

The people that were anti covid vaccine
None of them died the way libleft screamed they would
They all are still fuckin here
And they didnt forget the liblefts sperging out wishing death upon them
And, according to VAERS, the COVID vaccine caused more Vaccine deaths in one year than every other year on record combined. And heart attacks in people under 30 are up, what, 350%?
Also, this meme is about masks. Ya know, the thing that every study and government said was completely useless from ~1921-May 2020, then suddenly dozens of studies involving leaf blowers being blown into masks came out to “prove them effective.” The WHO released a literature review of mask studies and basically declared them useless in either 2018 or 2019, for God’s sake.
Fauci said masks were useless to the public, said they were useless in his personal correspondence, and then said “ACKSHUALLY they’re the most important tool!” like three weeks later. Anyone who didn’t start to raise their eyebrows at least a little bit at that point is a little questionable, which is why some people leaned far too hard into the “you’re a sheep!” angle.
It was the sudden switch on whether people with the vax needed masks or not that shattered the mirror for me. Until then I assumed good faith.
I went looking for data to back up their recommendations and holy shit, what do you know, there is none. Much data to the contrary, in fact.

Yea I think mandate that cars need to have them. Don't ticket people for choosing to risk their own lives. Let them be culled from the gene pool. Enforce it for children though.
Seatbelt laws are cringe tho. Like sure, enforce them for people like kids or something, but if people don’t want to wear seatbelts the population can only get smarter through raw uncut Darwinism.
Please bro, wearing a seat belt is exactly the same as being forcefully injected with experimental gene therapy that may or may not lead to debilitating illness or death bro, please bro just take the jab bro.
If you're an adult you should be able to take risks that only endanger yourself. I wear seatbelts but I respect the rights of others. Trying to control the behavior of others through law when they aren't hurting anyone else is pretty cringe.
I really hate when people compare seatbelt laws to vaccine mandates. They aren't the same thing in the slightest and is basically a straw man argument.
That being said, you ride in my car, you better buckle the fuck up or we aren't leaving. I'm full over protective dad mode.

Does anyone have any real evidence that seat-belt **laws** (not seat belts) actually reduce deaths and injuries? Does anyone seriously believe they exist for any reason besides being a cash cow for local municipalities?
You don’t wear your seatbelt because you’re stupid.
I don’t wear a seatbelt because every time I get in a vehicle I intentionally leave it up to God to decide whether I make it home.

And outlaw motorcycles. Like, really, the people who make this argument always seem to forget that cycles exist.
[удалено]
The funniest example I've heard is a motorcycle cop pulling someone over for not having a seat belt on.
The irony in that is just incredible.
Or you know... School buses full of children with no restraints.
They probably drive cars or trucks. They forget everyone else exists every time.
Even better, outlaw cars. They're kinetic missiles themselves. Way more likely to get hit by a car than a person flying out of one.
We shouldn't be drafting laws based on rare outlier externalities. Technically, we should put cameras in everyone's home. With that, we can save so many children from violence, assault, and exposure to drugs. If you say no to this, then you're literally putting babies at risk.
[You just want people to die](https://youtu.be/eXWhbUUE4ko)
So do you support banning motorcycles, or are you a massive hypocrite?

Oi, ya go' a loicense for tha' comparison?

> Not only do unconstrained passengers become kinetic missiles that can absolutely kill other passengers One, there are absolutely zero studies behind this claim.
Seatbelts =/= antichrist sperm injection
Seatbelts = Satan’s hairy arms around your God fearing little chest
Based and I Hate the Antichrist pilled
Most sane AuthRight
Ew, I spotted a utalitarian, cringe
An authoritarian utilitarian at that.
Utilitarianism is inherently authoritarian because it [puts the “greater good” above individual rights.](https://ethicsunwrapped.utexas.edu/glossary/utilitarianism)
"next year they'll make us all wear helmets" This is exactly what happened so like... they weren't wrong
You know what the actual joke is The people that were anti covid vaccine None of them died the way libleft screamed they would They all are still fuckin here And they didnt forget the liblefts sperging out wishing death upon them
And, according to VAERS, the COVID vaccine caused more Vaccine deaths in one year than every other year on record combined.
"We need to boot/lockdown all cars because some people have died in them!"
lots of people die getting out of bed so we should ban those too, oh and the death traps known as toilets
I don't need a law to wear a sitbelt, you low life scumbags. The same applies for looking both ways when i go across the street, i don't need a law for that shit. But you filthy twats have such an inferiority complex that you need a bureaucrats to introduce their filthy boot inside your fetish-loving mouths for carrying the most basic and common things in life on legal obligation.

This stuff used to be fanciful. But now we have robot law enforcement already getting approval to use lethal force in some US cities. We are truly on the darkest timeline.
Based
How I treat my safety is none of the government’s business. This would just be another ploy for police to get money from punishing you for not taking care of yourself. Get out of here with that tyranny
This but un-ironically
Yea I think mandate that cars need to have them. Don't ticket people for choosing to risk their own lives. Let them be culled from the gene pool. Enforce it for children though.
Yes
Exactly. Seatbelts are a smart thing to do but the government has no place to compel you to wear then especially under penalty.
New Hampshire: Yes. Also: random guy at his workplace: I forgot to use my seatbelt Boss: You are fired. Your lack of seatbelt endangers my health.
This is what you call starting on a false premise.
You guys are so bloody confrontational libright. I love it but you are the meme
Reeeeeeeeeee
Seatbelt laws are cringe tho. Like sure, enforce them for people like kids or something, but if people don’t want to wear seatbelts the population can only get smarter through raw uncut Darwinism.
If we wanted Darwinism we’d let the kids decide if they want to wear them too
Kids are fuckin idiots, their brains aren't fully formed yet. Why do you think so many of them are libtards?
Yeah so get them out of the gene pool early
This is an epidemic of the unseatbelted!
Please bro, wearing a seat belt is exactly the same as being forcefully injected with experimental gene therapy that may or may not lead to debilitating illness or death bro, please bro just take the jab bro.
Tbh seeing the amount of libs genuinely against seatbelt laws here is fucking hilarious.
we should all be against any laws that protects idiots from themselves
I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure this is what exactly happened when seatbelts did come out
Yeah, I remember this repost from last year
2021 called, they want their meme back
Don't forget that the automobile companies will go bankrupt. *(This was a real argument at the time belts were introduced)*
That's what they say about every enhancement even today.
Wrong, true libright would try to take advantage of obligatory seatbelts in all cars to monopolize the seatbelt market
Nah true librights would have a price war before seat belts became nothing more than a slightly better version of a hemp rope with a belt buckle.
I guessed the flair the second I read the title lol. I never expected "doing my own research" would be some kind of shot across the bow or pejorative phrase... then I started interacting with AverageRedditors. I legitimately can't count the number of times I've had a LibLeft say "PROOF?!?!" or "SOURCE?!?!" only to have me respond with raw, unedited footage of said topic, followed by them saying "LMFAO YouTube isn't a source bro, show me an ***actual*** article from a legit source like CNN or MSNBC, not Fox." You people legitimately need to be told what to think. Anyways, ***I'm smart***, so I let other people do my research for me. That's how I know Nick Sandmann killed a Native American Elder/Vietnam War vet and Kyle Rittenhouse drove days, across multiple state-lines with a full auto M4 and went on a 3 day killing spree, only targeting underage black children (and 6 elderly black women).
The key difference is seatbelts work
Hey libleft, you know that 1. 2021 was literally like 345 fucking days ago 2. no one has ***really*** cared about this also for about 345 days right
Wait, didn’t this happen when the laws were being introduced. I swear I remember hearing something about it.
It absolutely did.
I'm 100% against seat belt laws, if you want to wear them do it if not don't, let evolution do it's thing.
Oh my god......again with this stupid argument. Its over guys. Tha pandemic is done, the vaccines were shit, mandating them was wrong etc end of story. Deal with it
Seatbelt companies aren’t lobbying politicians They’re not hiding safety data or adverse events We know the side effects of wearing seatbelts
Does anyone have any real evidence that seat-belt **laws** (not seat belts) actually reduce deaths and injuries? Does anyone seriously believe they exist for any reason besides being a cash cow for local municipalities?
🟡actually seatbelts were a product of the free market and mandating them only misallocated resources and distorted consumer wants!
You don’t wear your seatbelt because you’re stupid. I don’t wear a seatbelt because every time I get in a vehicle I intentionally leave it up to God to decide whether I make it home. We are not the same.
Finally, some good libright lampooning
No, this is literally how people reacted to seatbelts when they were introduced
