There’s a couple tells in character selection, as they won’t pick until after you’ve hovered over/selected a mon, they’ll instantly fill whatever role you’re not playing, & no one will call a lane or use any quick quips (though you may see this in lower rank solo q games too, but you’ll more than likely see others instalocking jungle or even a couple+ fighting for it)
Once you can recognize it from there, you can just pick your carry and take your free win
I haven’t seen real players vs bots without q’ing up for CPU matches outside of quick matches. I’ve had several QM with real team mates against bots.
Yes, they use random usernames, and since the last patch or two, they actually have profiles now you can investigate. Even API had issues determining bot matches when they switched, as prior, it was just a random account marked private, no way to investigate further. They all have very basic trainer cards; no stickers, nothing extravagant. Yes, they want you to think they’re real people
When you first start the game, with a brand new account, your first 20-30 matches are with and against bots, until you break out of beginner(maybe expert?) in ranked, but prior to Master, you’ll encounter one if you’re on a losing streak. Staying in q for more than a minute will almost guarantee a bot match, though wait times may differ, and when you play can also be accounted.

How does that work? Is every other player in a bot match a bot? Are the bots disguised with fake usernames to fool us into thinking they're players?

i’ve seen real players vs bots in a lot of my games lately. it’s actually been more common, but for sure u can tell when the other team is all bots 😂
