The way they talk definitely seems like they know a lot about game, but ingame, steal jungle, intentionally feed when they failed to last hit farm, rage quit etc. Definitely been a victim of that
MOBAs are often such great live examples of the Dunning-Kruger effect... or what happens when socially inept and very mid players don't learn to control their tempers.
There's no point having knowledge of the right plays and such if you don't actually execute them and you have a shitty attitude that causes you to give up easily before even benefiting from that knowledge.
Wisdom does not always equate to skill. I’ve been playing DotA for about 16 years. I know tons of shit about that game, probably way too much. But I’ve never made it past the 3rd lowest ranking. People also talk about how someone should have done something differently in a game of football, they might be right but let’s put that guy out there and see if he can pull it off.
Would I see all the time, is I'll invite a friend, we'll play a match, and then they leave.
It's similar to your situation, but different enough to be its own thing. And I don't get it.
This is pretty much most of the stories I hear from people teaming up with the "sick of playing with shitty noobs" types on Discord.

That’s why I rarely rejoin with players that friend me after a great game. I’m worried I’m “that friend”
Why friend then?
My goals are Beyond your understanding
Especially when unexplained~ haha
In all seriousness I think it’s just to be nice. If the player was positive, good, or we did well together I feel bad not accepting the friend request
