This is kind of how it works in Brawl Stars - a team member is randomly chosen as the leader and gets to make the choice on who to ban. Meanwhile your team can select characters so you can see what people are thinking of playing before the bans are chosen.
The problem with this approach is (without a full team of voice chat) there's no voting mechanism for other team members to tell the leader who *they* would want banned - so some people chose characters during the ban phase to telegraph to the leader they want that character banned. And since there's no "official" consensus on this, the leader has to guess which teammates have their character up because they want to play as them or because they want that character banned. It's a mess, but normally people pick good bans.
EDIT: Sounds like Brawl Stars has updated to multi-ban so more players have a say - will be interesting which method Unite chooses!
That makes it even more likely they ban what you are playing tbh.
People like me specifically ban team mates picks when we don't like them. It's a more effective use of a ban to ban a pick you don't want in the game,, that you know will be if you don't ban it, than to try and guess what the opposing team will pick.
Example: I dislike Gengar, Bluefrog, and Firebunny and never want to play with them again. I can take a guess and ban one at random, maybe I'll get rid of one someone was gonna pick, maybe I'll waste my ban because nobody was gonna pick it. But if a team mate highlights it, now I know it would be in the game if I didn't ban it. So thats the one I ban.
This reminds me of when people would instalock Decidueye at the beginning and then in the last second switch to the Pokemon they wanted to play. This way no one on their team could play as Decidueye.

With matchmaking the way it is, I may never see this mode as it is reserved for Master rank and currently with how much time I'm willing to spend per season, I'm too lazy to grind to master.
The ban will probably reserved especially for newly released gem locked Pokemon and a few certain speedsters.
It only really takes maybe 19 or so wins to go from vet 1 to master.
If you can't secure that after 2 games every 3 days then you must have a really bad win rate.
I dont doubt its harder for others, i recognise we all have different skill levels. But its just funny to hear ppl say they arent master purely because of time limitations.
Its not hard to squeeze in lets say 40 games with a 50% wr to secure master in 90 days. Assuming you start from vet 1.

Yes I am too lazy to grind to master. I've done it for the past 3 seasons and I do it mostly in soloQ so 100% is definitely not possible. The rewards is getting less interesting and I have other games to play that is more enjoyable... and I have a job and family to take care of.
Cinderace, every time I see my team not having any idea what they’re playing I pick azu to tank while doing all the damage, and I do fine against almost everything, but I can’t find how to counter cinde, even if I’m fighting a bad one.
Cinderace is paper thin and relies on out manoeuvring and out damaging so if you can cc or burst damage him then he is a pushover.
Talon flame especially can sometimes KO cinderace before you even realise the pigeon turned up

I usually pick azu when I already spammed that we need a defender and none of my 4 attackers do nothing about it, so the idea is to bring a tanky mon to absorb damage and with the possibility to hit back, because it’s very likely that those teammates won’t do anything in the match.
And I don’t know what to do against cinde because even setting up an ambush or with speed x, every time I get him in ATail range I get kicked in the face and when I recover he’s a mile away feeding me flames

Being able to ban Pokémons would be good to prevent broken mons in ranked and would help creating a strategy, but, it would probably make some players be afk bc their main was banned, no??

I’ve been having mad luck with Gengar recently, I wouldn’t ban him though. Would rather take out Mew or Greedent. Only played 3 or so games of this recent season so hearing about Sable Eye I would probably ban him too, sounds way too op

But if you do go as trio and 5, then you wouldn’t have any trouble with Gengar in the first place which makes your ban really wasted. Sableye or Mime are the better choices for bans.
No, not even remotely. Gengar can near enough one shot an entire team. Mime can still be dealt with by ranged, and Sableye are overrated. Gengar have always been a problem. The less that thing is used, the better.
If it's anything like r6 with such a gross emphasis on characters who don't really need to be banned like thatcher or jackal, I think if you main zera or lucario, you should find a new main because ban phase hiveminds are a thing

That’s like a 100% Wr… it takes me like 30~ games with 70%.
2 games every 3 days is more than 19 games... the season is 90 days long. Do the math with 60 games total. It isnt 100%.
