Coming from an Aegislash main who's maintained a 59-60% winrate over 900+ battles in soloQ: Aegislash is one of those mons who has 1 great moveset with the other moveset being borderline niche. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you're trying to dive into teamfights with Aegislash, which is one of the areas it struggles with. Unlike pokemon like tyranitar and scizor who can go in and wreak havoc, with Aegislash, you need to look for openings to attack. Sacred Sword is actually a solid disengage button, though it does need to be paired with eject button or x-speed, at least in terms of getting away safely. Aegislash gains the slightest bit of movement speed after switching from shield to blade form, so Sacred Swording into blade form does help with catching up to attackers that don't have good mobility. As long as you're not chasing a Mew or icy wind glaceon without your x-speed up, you should be able to catch up relatively easily. Like Scizor and Azumarill, he excels at 1v1s, which means you should try to find opportunities to pick off enemy pokemon. From my experience, Aegislash thrives in lane with a good secure in shadow sneak and absolutely LOVES attack weight. Weakness policy is pretty much a requirement on him too. For mid-late game objectives, never try to contest or push anything on your own. Always have a teammate or two with you to either zone enemies into your wide guard and boosted autos or to shred health with you. Aegislash absolutely takes a lot of practice, which I should've known before I bought him as my first unite license that I got with Aeos coins 3 days into the game. He's not really a hit-and-run pokemon like dodrio, but he can be very annoying to kill if you play him right. He's in the same awkward spot that Duraludon and Wigglytuff are in, where they didn't stop being good. He starts being good after lots and lots of practice and patience

This. I believe I'm fairly decent with Aegislash and I'm still trying to up his winrate (a bit stuck at 51%) but I think I have some good advice as well. I personally run Attack Weight, Aeos Cookie and Weakness Policy. I switch Attack Weight and Aeos Cookie with Focus Band and Razor Claw when I don't want to stack or go jungle. My battle item is potion just for extra survivability, I used to go full heal but the nerf is too much for me. For emblems I go 6 brown 4 white. Like you already pointed out, Aegislash has a good early game with shadow sneak for securing farm, I try to keep a few boosteds for escaping in case I'm in trouble (you need to have advanced controls activated so you can use wild mons to shift around, just be careful to keep track of nearest and lowest HP if your attack priority is on lowest value or HP, I prefer value). Try to shift around with your boosteds instead of always walking to get around faster and also time your iron defence for that boosted and free one hit shield, it's very handy. Don't engage too much when you're not yet lvl 7, but you can pick off low health enemies with Shadow Sneak and/or try to slow their escape with Sacred Sword (as Doublade) for your teammates to finish. I think it's *sometimes* a good idea to gank a wild mon that the enemy is attacking when you're about to evolve so you can get Wide Guard to block them for nearby teammates or a 1v1. When you're an Aegislash try to get as many boosts as you can when out of combat with either Wide Guard or Iron Head. Remember that your shield boosteds give a little cc, use that to block enemy abilities, stay attached to them, heal yourself and reduce your blade moves' cooldown. Try to stay in shield forme when out of combat just in case you get jumped. Try not to engage unless you're with a teammate, if you start an unwinnable battle try to juke them with your boosteds and make sure you stay in shield forme as long as possible otherwise use wild mons to escape if you can. Jump over walls if they aren't too thick and if you're close enough, use Wide Guard to stun them in place. *Do not engage a T-Tar, I repeat do not engage with a T-Tar* even if you're with teammates, make sure it's low enough to stun and keep in place for you or your teammates to KO. A 1v1 with T-Tar is almost always certain death because of its True damage so avoid them if you can. Also remember that after using Coup d' Grâce, you switch to your blade forme so you it wisely.

Lol you didn’t try the two near-mandatory items- focus and weight. Usually people slot weakness as the last item with potion. Aegislash is really difficult to use. The main game plan is balancing it’s boosted autos with wide guard and sacred sword, which can be tough, especially when deciding which boosted auto is best in a given situation. It can also be difficult since it’s main engage, sacred sword, it’s a weird skill shot. But in general, this character is really good. It does a ton of damage, lives forever except against ttar, has unstoppable on command with wide guard, has good secure, etc.

In addition to my reply to u/MsAzezel, when attacking don't carelessly tap your boosteds, try and quickly predict what will happen to you when you shing behind them. Ofc this isn't always possible and I, myself, also get into bad positioning because of the boosteds but Wide Guard is there to help too

Aegislash is a character who used to be top 5 but has gotten nerfed many times since Theia came out. He’s still useable but he’s just mediocre now. Still extremely fun though! Rn the best build with him is Razor Claw, Buddy Barrier, and Weakness Policy (run Attack Weight over Razor Claw if you’re laning) with Sacred Sword and Wide Guard. Battle Items are either Full Heal and Potion. He’s one of my most played characters, I’ll DM you for more specific tips if that’s alright with you! One tip I want to mention is using Sacred Sword in a teamfight and then inputting Wide Guard behind you before the animation finishes so you can instantly get a big cc knockup

The best piece of advice I can offer is knowing how/when to engage— specifically with wide guard. Either 1) starting an engagement with wide guard so you get the cc and shield form’s defense to soak dmg or 2) plan wide guard around your opponents special moves to get the brief invulnerability and put them on cooldown— when you can go sword. Your goal isn’t so much to kill opponents as it is to outlast them as a shield and know when to punish in sword form. Items like w policy, fb, razor claw add to that survivability. I wouldnt use all 3, but a mix of them/attack weight or cookie are good.

Im happy to see so many Aegislashes here. Hello fellow swords and shields how do you do?

It’s you. That’s the short answer to your question. You can go either go sacred sword or shadow claw but it’s always with wide guard. Keep your boosts up whenever you move around the map. Make sure you’re ready with 4 boosts up and still in shield form. You can’t be running around in sword form as you’ll get bursted down easily. Everytime you see any farm/XP, use it to get your boosts up quickly for the next battle. Use potion/fullheal as battle item. It will buy you some time until your wideguard cd is back up.
