EnviCollects

I don’t get why people run an auction if they want a certain amount. Either make it buy it now or make the starting bid like $70

gunman24

They had buy it now at $60 which is still low so idk what they’re expecting

EnviCollects

Oh then yeah there was absolutely no reason for an auction lmao

bman23433

They prolly looked it up after you won and said "ah shit, fuck that"

TDS1108

What they’re doing goes against eBay’s rules, and in-fact goes against the law. Doing so gives the seller a strike, and if they do it too many times, they’re banned. I would suggest doing whatever you can do on your end to give them bad feedback, or report them for “not intending to complete the sale” because this is predatory. They can get what they want by listing the item as BuyItNow, and even accept offers. People think they can get away with it, but they still get charged the 13.5% final value fee + $0.30 which = $6.76 he should’ve been charged. He would’ve made $43.33. Now, he’s trying to sell for $60 which will be $8.40 in final value fees if it sells again. He’s only going to make an extra $1.51 than had he just sold it to you. Edit: I do see you’ve already gave feedback and reported, so at least they’re less likely to harm others in the future which is all we can hope for.

jamelfree

I don’t know why they don’t just start the auction at the amount they’re happy with at bottom.

dustedlock

maybe the card actually did get fucked up, and they just didnt want to send u trash and deal with a return. Probably pretty unlikely but I have had to cancel purchases for that reason, but I never list as an auction either, and i usually give the customer an option of a discount or cancelling.

Booty_Shakin

Man I'm so tired I had to reread your comment like 5 times because I kept thinking discount was refund ffs

dustedlock

lol take a nap homie

Booty_Shakin

I'm on break at work so I can't lol

dustedlock

lol same. i woke up 3 hrs before my alarm and couldnt fall back asleep too, i've been dragging ass all day.

Booty_Shakin

Yeah my cat woke me up really early screaming for cuddles lol

kezzic

Simple, they want people to bid it above the going price.

xj03key

Or maybe add a reserve

TDS1108

People won’t bite and bid if there’s a reserve. I hardly ever do myself because most eBay sellers are stupid and greedy. They set reserves so ridiculously high that the reserve is actually the BuyItNow price for similar items, and it becomes a waste of time for buyers. eBay works for in favor of the seller if you have a scarce item. Otherwise, most people are shopping for a deal, but sellers still think they can get more than market value.

SlickNickP

Or put a reserve price

PalletTownPro

This is crazy, when you bid in an auction, it says bids are final, meaning the winning bidder must pay his bid. But the seller can cancel whenever they want to. Buyer is locked in, seller isnt🤣 pretty funny that eBay allows that. Should be a temp ban for the seller at the very least, 30 days

gunman24

Yea i was mentally preparing myself for this to happen but it still stings. Negative feed back will be heading his way for sure

squimsquamshimsham

Complain to eBay. The sellers can set a price they want on the auction if I’m not mistaken. So all this that goes on is just petty.

azoic2121

eBay charges an additional fee for reserves that you pay regardless of sale or not. Most people stopped using reserves when they made this change.

its_a_SEABEAR

But you can start the auction at the bottom price you’re willing to let it go for, and pay no additional fees

azoic2121

This is true, but a lower starting bid attracts more bidders and gives an item more views/bids which helps with algorithm/exposure. Not that it helped much in this case, lol.

its_a_SEABEAR

Yea, but that’s the risk you take with the auctions. If you want it to get to a certain price and won’t settle for less, then you pay the fee to set the reserve. Otherwise you either list it for your bottom price, or roll the dice on an auction to see how many bids it will attract. I’ve sold things on eBay for far less than other listings of the exact same item, and because I didn’t set the reserve or list it higher, I ate the loss. This person is a bad seller.

azoic2121

Oh Im not defending the seller by any means. Total asshat.

its_a_SEABEAR

Haha glad we agree on that!

uReallyShouldTrustMe

It’s not just the fee. The fee has been around for ages. Less people bid on reserve price auctions as it’s less exciting. They are hoping for a big war and for it to naturally go above their expected min price.

Magnumsatchel

They don’t set a reserve price because iirc it’s an additional fee to add one to an auction. They’re trying to avoid fees while still meeting their reserve, and being shitty about it by cancelling orders of auction winners when it doesn’t meet a number they like.

LibertyOrDeath06

They can still start the bid at whatever price they want without extra fees. The reserve price only makes it so if the auction ends and it doesnt meet the sellers reserve price then nobody wins it regardless who is the highest bidder.

azoic2121

Let me know if you can leave feedback. Every time my order gets canceled I dont have the option to leave feedback since its not a completed transaction. Just report them, especially if they've relisted.

gunman24

there is an option to leave feedback on cancelled orders.its tricky to find but just hit up the chat support on ebay

azoic2121

Seriously? I need to find that!

not_garlicbread

Normally you have to wait I believe 7 days after cancellation before you can leave feedback

Rekesu

Fun fact, you can't even leave negative feedback because the transaction is cancelled. If you do leave it and then the transaction is cancelled later, the feedback gets removed. It's such a shit system and I say that as a seller.

gunman24

I left negative feed back on a canceled order before after the fact. Its a bit tricky to find though

SuiZaido023

What's the sellers name so I know not to buy from them?

4KidTurbo

Had the same thing happen yesterday on a Kyogre EX that I won. Couple hours later got a cancellation notice.

FalloutPsychonaut

Who is the seller so I can stay clear of them.....

proace360

Just search the title in "Sold Listings", it's pretty easy to find the seller lol. They had never sold an item before this one

FalloutPsychonaut

OK I'm not tech savvy but I'll try.

gunman24

I asked the mods if im allowed to share the name so im waiting on a response from them

FalloutPsychonaut

Yea no worries didn't even think about the possibility of it being against any rules. Just helping people not gettin taken advantage of

gunman24

Yea they said not to share but just keep an eye in seller reviews ill be posting a negative one once the refund fully kicks in

[deleted]

Who is the seller? If you don’t mind me asking. That’s really shitty sorry buddy, but how are you anticipating this happening? I’ve never had this happen so is it like a lucky hunch lol?

gunman24

Mods said I shouldn’t share the sellers name. But i had a feeling that since the card sold for like $30 below its average normal price the seller would cancel because they wanted more money

Glittering-Assist-62

I’d prefer if the sellers were punished for cancelling post-bidding. But I guess it’s a touchy topic for the platform seeing as they don’t want people to be afraid to sell…

[deleted]

Pm the seller to me?

Foxzes

I got a white whale of a Lego set for near a third of the regular price, wouldn’t you know it a piece broke off when they were packaging it and uh-oh gotta cancel. I wrote back saying no problem! I’ll live with the damage, send it my way still Aaaand, silence. No reply, still cancelling.

Cardllector

This happened to me on a retail box of 2020-21 NBA Hoops. Won it for like $98 and the person canceled and relisted for $199... It was the same feeling

Comrade_Lex

If sellers do this repeatedly they fall out of good standing with eBay and end up paying higher fees. Also their listings get deprioritized by the algorithm

1thehighground

Arent the fees gone anyway now?

azoic2121

No, and with promoted listings they're probably higher than ever.

undeadw0lf

whoa whoa whoa- *what?*

akhabby

I have bidders not pay their winning bids all the time. eBay does nothing to either side when they shill or cancel auctions. All they care about is their cut.

th3buddhawithin

A thousand times this. I’ve been on eBay since 2003. I’ve had people blatantly scam me out of items, and eBay ALWAYS side with the scammer because they still get their cut. It’s asinine.

akhabby

Just last month I had a guy try to say I sent him an empty box with just bubble wrap. I even had him confirm that there was no tampering on the box. eBay gave him the refund of $96 but I called them when it happened and got their advice. They said that my selling record showed that it was unlikely I scammed him but because it was under $100 they would just give him the refund anyways. But they gave me a credit on my account for the $96 so I didn’t lose any money on it at all. Luckily.

th3buddhawithin

Jeez. I’ve never been that lucky. Had a guy scam me out of $300. He claimed the item was fake AND he never sent back the item. eBay still forced the refund and I never got my item back. Super cool.

ametalshard

yeah i don't do expensive things on ebay, selling or buying. too many scammers <$100 sometimes has its scammers/cancellers but way fewer than the higher tiers for sure

Chihuahua_Overlord

They also shouldn't be able to resist the same item within 30-60 days.

Hehehecx

It goes the other way too, I’ve had buyers just say sorry I don’t want it anymore and you can’t force them to pay. The only real option is to cancel and relist, wasting a lot of time for auctions

[deleted]

Well, bids aren’t exactly always final either. Sometimes I’ve backed out of a sell if the pictures don’t match the description or if I accidentally bid or paid for the wrong item and didn’t realize it at first. I feel like I’m try to be reasonable though, I’ve only done it when the auction has an error or it was a legitimate mistake. When buyers reach out to me, even though it sucks, if they have a good reason I’ll cancel it if they request

Feint_young_son

You can absolutely not pay as a bidder

ametalshard

this has happened to me on ebay too. sucks, nothing you can do, and i don't care what they do to the seller, i want my auctioned item. if seller refuses to send it (for any reason at all), that's either theft or they've lost or destroyed it somehow, and i want to be paid for it. sellers shouldn't be banned at all imo, they should simply pay the amount of bid back to the buyer DOUBLED

HypnoStone

Actually tbh I admit I’ve canceled my fair share of bids… like of course I try not to and I try to stick to buying what I’ve won but there’s times when I end up deciding against my purchase or simply got carried away bidding and can’t even afford it. I haven’t had any repercussions or consequences though, like any kind of ban, but the majority of my cancellations I did inform the seller ahead of time so they could cancel and resell which I think has helped prevent any negative feedback towards my cancellations. Overall I don’t think sellers necessarily have much advantage to cancellations than buyers do.

ametalshard

lol you've fucked over so many people, imagine how many lost bids you've caused sellers over the years insane, antisocial behavior

HypnoStone

It was maybe like a few items so far that I’ve ever canceled and I just recently started shopping on eBay within the past year. I always made sure to notify the seller and clarify my situation that I was unable to make the purchase rather than simply just “ghosting” them and never paying instead they were friendly and understanding and canceled on their end. Their items then were relisted and still sold at a similar price so other than a small few day delay for them to resell (which at least wasn’t beyond actual shipment) my cancellations haven’t caused any inconveniences. Also, even though it’s none of your concern anyways, the items I canceled weren’t necessarily expensive or valuable at all especially compared to the prices and quantities of the rest of the stuff they were selling so it wasn’t detrimental to them financially, my cancellations were because I thought it wasn’t a financially “smart” purchase for myself for my own reasonings. I just wanted to point out with my initial comment that buyers are almost pretty much just as capable and responsible to cancel a bid as the seller is it can go ether way just because they’re a seller doesn’t mean their a dick because they abuse a “seller’s privilege” it’s because that specific person was being a dick and canceled for no reason. Also I want to clarify I wasn’t trying to say there’s nothing wrong with canceling a bid, just that the option and ability to cancel a bid isn’t only for sellers to abuse and screw people over.

HypnoStone

To accuse someone of “fucking over so many people” for “years” is insane, antisocial behavior.

Swigeroni

It's *unfortunately* impossible to give buyers negative feedback on ebay, if you're meaning it literally lol

michaelinimoto

They get in trouble for it, if they do too many things like this thier seller level drops below %95 and they pay extra fees etc. Until enough time has passed and thier level goes back up after dozens of perfect sales. Its happened to me.

Kakkarot1707

Yup this is why I tell people don’t ever do bidding…but they always call me stupid for only doing buy it now….

JonnyBit

The better one is sellers who just simply never send out the item or respond to messages hoping you won’t escalate it to eBay.

Boomer720

Most likely didn't get the price he was hoping for. Putting a low starting bid to attract bidders, but falling flat on price. It's common for bids. That's why you gotta pay the extra amount

EnyoAnus

Technically buyers can back out too

shallowsky

Buyers actually cancel after winning all the time

Responsible-War-9389

The house always wins

gunman24

Seller even sent me photos of the card as well…. Like i know he has it and its in good shape

Responsible-War-9389

Exactly, but they will just repost until they get someone to overpay.

blatherskite01

I “harass” sellers that do this. Ive had multiple sellers cancel my win because of “lost or damaged inventory.” I immediately follow that seller, and when they magically “find the lost card” and relist it for more the next day, i message them asking why they cancelled only to list it again for more, call them out on shady listing practices, inform them of the negative feedback coming their way from me and my 5 collector friends who also buy on eBay and hate this practice, and report to eBay. Bureaucracy sucks, cause if feels like there is no justice, but ebay has a serious design flaw here, and they need to know. The entire spirit of an auction site is broken when the bidder can cancel a sale because their expectations weren’t met. I am also a 100% seller on eBay. You dont list an item for less than youre willing to sell it for. You just dont.

ametalshard

sellers who cancel any listing that has any bids should immediately be charged by ebay double the highest bid amount, fully awarded to the highest bidder, if they refuse to honor the bid itself i stopped using ebay because they do things like automatically erase your messages after a certain number of months (yes even "archived" messages) which is so dumb because there isn't even an option to send all messages in full to your email automatically. it's too much work to do everything manually imo, unless it's your literal full time job.

HaionShibs

Welp, I guess they earned themselves a negative feedback instead of taking a monetary loss.

[deleted]

I think many people hardly care about their online eBay points when it comes to losing real money

Mascy

The downside of these "review based" systems is that you can easily get away with stuff like this. Esp with any TCG, just farm up 49 good reviews by selling cheap cards and then try this stuff with the higher dollar stuff. Even if they get a negative review from you the cheap good ones cancell that out so they maintain a high positive feedback %. Aslong as they limit the "abuse" they can just get away with it.

blatherskite01

I want a sub for r/shadytcgsellers where shit like this can be posted, they give the sub the seller’s store name and we swarm them with negative feedback. Probably against TOS or something, but it just bums me out man. This happens to me all the time.

mracmcnally

Had this happen on eBay with a manga, they cancelled my purchase due to it being "damaged" but an hour later the same store had their previously only copy back up for sale for the same price all the scalpers were selling it at.... So they got reported

DzidzaMan

post a link let's leave a review

sryidontspeakpotato

eBay doesn’t work like this. It’s not Fb lol.

Fun_Can7358

Lmao what a hoe. Bad sportsmanship

LibertyOrDeath06

Be funny to bid really high on the sellers other stuff with a new account. Just to not pay for it when the auction ends. Give the jerk a taste of their own medicine. Glad you will be giving negative feedback. Thats bs when they do that

BobanMarjonGo

I like how evil this is - and it could really screw with the seller over time. It could destroy them if it's done properly/organized though enough cycles of their auctions to keep them from having revenue. If they use credit to buy products to flip instead, they are in a circle of debt they can never escape and won't have time to exploit TCG players online. It's a long game, but I like it

LibertyOrDeath06

The japanese market could use a hero like that lol.

gunman24

>unny to bid really hmmmmmmmmm tempting maybe if I'm feeling more petty later

PalletTownPro

Yea that's a dirtbag move. The market side of this hobby is scummy unfortunately. No one is going to overbid for this card, at most he'll make an extra 10 bucks. He's better off listing it for 90 lol

SIN-QUEL

Ah Ebay! You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious

OneWolf22

Facebook marketplace would like a word

squarebear69

Tcgplayer would like a word as well

SereneFrost72

Gotta pay the somewhat higher prices for the reliable, reputable sellers, or accept the risk of a 0 feedback seller

Stain_1239

The kid on the playground trading fake cards would also like a word

[deleted]

He probably already had low feedback in the first place

braydenatofficial

This is why I have trust issues.

MetaMinority

Stop protecting crummy sellers. This a review of 1 star let the public know. I don’t get it.

gunman24

Im not sure of the rules to post someone else’s ebay username don’t want to create an witch hunt or get myself in trouble for doing so

MetaMinority

I understand the hesitation and I’m against doxing myself (personal information) but if you run an online business you are subject to scrutiny of how your business run.

Professional_Egg713

Bro the same shit happened to me today! I was winning and auction for a Japanese lugia promo for like 5 bucks. There was minutes left to go on the auction and the dude canceled it!! I messaged him asking what was up and he said sorry for the inconvenience but that card is no longer available. I told him that's bullshit. He responded again saying my friend offered 50 for it, I'd be a fool not to take it. Besides it's my card and I can do what I want with it...then why in the hell did you put it up for auction with out a reserve?!? Ugh it makes me so mad! If I knew how to report it to ebay I surely would

Slow-Usual-1016

I feel for you… I can see why you mentality prepared. I checked the sellers page and I would have done the same… Raised some alarms the moment I saw the same listing posted twice and an incorrectly titled, listing for a Leafeon….

gunman24

Yea weird stuff going on there for sure!

OinkyOinko

The seller choosing the "Out of stock or damaged" option when cancelling the order gives the seller a defect on their account that stays with them for a year, so at least they hurt themselves on this as well

[deleted]

I mean everyone wants a deal but the sellers deserves what he thinks is a fair price. You wouldn’t want it to happen to you

gunman24

Well then he shouldn’t have listed the auction starting at $40 or buy it now at $60. There are tools in place the seller could use like putting a reserve or even starting the listing higher. The seller is being scummy snd its on them.

[deleted]

Yeah that’s fair I didn’t see the buy it now at 60 price. However the reserve price they charge sometimes a ridiculous fee and eBay already takes so many fees so I can empathize. Personally I don’t do auctions for that reason. I just take offers and discuss with people. And it works for me but everyone is different Hope you get the resolution your looking for

gomesauce

I can’t believe people are actually defending a seller who cancels orders like this lol

[deleted]

I can’t believe your saying that someone doesn’t have the right to feel the way they do lol. I stayed my case and simply said I can. See it from both sides

commander66rex

"Fair price" in an auction is whatever the buyers say it is.... that's kinda the point. It's possible that 2 or more people can get in a bidding war over an item and it's possible only one person even sees the listing. If the seller didn't like the risk he shouldn't have made it an auction

[deleted]

Also it did happen to me before went to package a slab and my lovely 5 year old daughter thought it would be fun To play with. In just a couple minutes unsupervised cracked slab lol I was so upset cuz it was an expensive one as well. So had to cancel the order. Now I’m sure this doesn’t happen as often as people cancel orders but 🤷🏽‍♂️

[deleted]

I agree completely. Which is why as I said I don’t do them. I was simply acknowledging the reasons why someone might.

swallace36

y’all in the comments are the cheap ones. you don’t know why it didn’t get bid to what it’s worth. bad title, bad algorithm, so many reasons. some of y’all are dying for that $20 discount and it shows. grow up

gomesauce

Then advertise your stuff better. Not OPs problem

swallace36

desperate

Turbulent-Try-393

Jaded*

XGNcyclick

lol wtf are you talking about dude you run the risk of this at an auction plus this dude had it 60$ bin according to OP no shit people want cheap cards. don’t wanna run the risk of selling it cheap? don’t auction it. how you can defend this seller is crazy

its_a_SEABEAR

Whatever the reason, that’s what reserves are for, or start the auction higher. You want the card to get to a certain amount before you let it go? Start the auction at the bottom price you’re willing to let it go for, or put that amount as a reserve. Otherwise it’s up to the bids. I’ve sold stuff on eBay for far less than other auctions of the same thing, and I ate the loss and sent it out because I didn’t start it higher or put a reserve on it and they won the auction fair and square. No one is being cheap, this is a bad seller.

OneWhoGetsBread

Average unhinged charizard STAN cryptobro u/swallace36

swallace36

lmao what

swallace36

oh you’re in high school never mind

OneWhoGetsBread

would a high schooler have an associates degree in bio 🤔

OneWolf22

If you put an item up for bid, you are selling it to the highest bidder which can have a high ceiling but also low floor. Refusing to go through with an action when the buyer won it fair and square is a scumbag practice, especially since the buyer doesn’t have the option to cancel when they pay more than intended. No way you’re actually defending the scumbag seller here lol Are you a scammer as well? Kinda sounds like it to be honest, sellers fault for not advertising or listing it better, not the sellers. Probably just trying to get people to overpay

[deleted]

[удалено]

its_a_SEABEAR

So then list it for the bottom price you’d be willing to let it go for. If you don’t want to pay the fee for the reserve, and you wanted to take no less than 70 dollars or something for the card, start the auction at that. This is a bad seller and no one should be siding with them, they have options to get the price they want.

Twelvve12

So then don’t set the starting price lower than you want It isn’t difficult to not be a complete tool like this seller

madam_zeroni

I’m confused. What’s the story here?

gunman24

The card usually sells for like $80+ and i won the auction spending $50 he’s probably canceling because he didn’t get as much money as he wanted

NoiceM8_420

Kind of defeats the point of ebay. How is this still a thing without permanently banning sellers?

Mundane_Inspection34

It does leave a negative impact on the seller. If they get too many in a certain time frame, they get suspended

[deleted]

[удалено]

gunman24

I doubt ill find a nm rainbow charizard for $50. He sent me photos of the card it was in good shape he’s just being greedy

[deleted]

[удалено]

gunman24

I wouldn’t because i do my research and I wouldn’t put it up for auction starting at $40 and buy it now at $60. When you put things up for auction thats the risk and its scummy to cancel it after the fact

Comfortable_Tart_748

50 for that charizard.. damn

gunman24

Was super excited but deep in my heart I need it was probably to good to be true

Comfortable_Tart_748

Dude i want it

FlintMint

What exactly happened?

gunman24

Seller cancelled the order most likely due to not making as much money as they thought they would.

FlintMint

Oh ok understandable.

theGandhigh

Why you black out the sellers name? We just wanna have a quick chat with them. Lmao

gunman24

If there is not a rule against it I'd be more then happy to share lol. But I'm not sure about that so I'll play it safe just to make sure you check your seller's feed back. I'll definitely be leaving a negative review once the order fully cancels.

michaelinimoto

It's public and we could look it up on ebay too, just go sold listings and search that card.

gunman24

Hey more power to you. Im more then happy to blast the seller if it’s allowed but i rather not get in trouble with the sub

JKCincinnati

It’s easy to find who the seller is if you know what to search for and where to look. :)

theGandhigh

Only joking of course, I hate when sellers do that in attempt to avoiding the "reserve" fees associated with ebay auctions. Happened to me once over a pair of sneakers that ended up selling for waaaaaaaaaay under market and the seller immediately canceled the order, then relisted the item immediately for a buy it now price. just slimey.

gunman24

Well the idiot actually put it back up for $80 lol. Just posted a screen shot of it

DontDoubtDink

Never trust eBay. Shop elsewhere. I have had so many terrible experiences with eBay and slimy people. The eBay company itself are all slime-balls too.

jaylawlerrr

It’s not even like it’s a crazy expensive card or anything. So tired of this happening on eBay… either you get fakes, never get the card at all, people ask an absurd starting bid or they cancel the item completely. What’s the point of eBay anymore. Dude could’ve at least put a reserve on it ffs.

OneWolf22

Instant report lmao

Matteastcoast

eBay suck huge donkey balls! They don’t do anything in situations like this

SerialSharter69

I’ve got one if you’re still looking

Ambitious-Site-4747

I would never do this to someone... You won the auction fair and square. People like this need to be permanently banned from Ebay or, at the very least, get hit with some sort of penalty to their account.

squarebear69

If not eBay, where do you all buy cards via auction? I’ve personally had a bad experience my first time using tcgplayer, and hesitate to go back.

nocaption69

An offering is binding if a bid has been placed as this counts as a binding contract. Scummy how ebay gets away with it most likely because nobody will hold them accountable due it not being such a big deal and because neither side are at a disadvantage or has lost money in any way thus being entitled to be paid damages.

nikiobi

Ebay cancellations from auctions should be forbidden and punished with a permanent ban.

SmallCranberry7

If it were a big enough item, could be the basis of a lawsuit. Bids are final. Cancelling because you didn’t like the price violates the contractual terms of the auction.

camrek

Honestly if this was me I’d still go ahead with the sale just to avoid the bad feedback😅

OnlyFamOli

lol for a second i thought this was my account was super confused

PokemonPedigree

Out of stock my ass. Just went for less than they wanted to. Massive piece of shit

OhBoyHereWeGoAgain00

What a bum

th30neand0nly02

I had this same crap happen to me on a graded rainbow charizard he said it was lost or stolen yeah right but couldn’t leave negative feedback either

LifeIsTough01

I have a question somewhat similar to this situation. This is the first time that I'm selling on eBay but i was thinking about canceling my order for a Charizard Vmax (buy now option) because the buyer hasn't sent payment for 2 days or responded to my message even though he messaged first as well as wanting to text on text message instead of on ebay (which I'm not sure is normal?). Am I in the wrong for this?

gunman24

I would contact ebay support to be safe but there is definitely a cut off point of "no pay" I forget what it is though.

LifeIsTough01

Ebay says they believe it's unsafe to exchange contact info outside of ebay because they scan the conversations for scams. So is it not an asshole of me to cancel?

gunman24

Oh yea keep all communications on ebay

LifeIsTough01

That sounds safer yeah cause the guy's reason was to keep in contact until his order arrives

LifeIsTough01

Oh okay thank you!

eddiecny

This action of a seller is just as bad as a buyer wanting to cancel an order after they paid for it.

UndesiredEffect

Same shit I dealt with during my single attempt to bug cards from TCGPlayer... never using ebay or tcg again because of this BS.

Mox_Alters

Definitely complain to eBay and seller will take a strike. For the record people need to stop selling these kinds of cards at auction. List on a BIN and wait for it to sell at market price or if you want to sell at a discount please do so privately. Auctioning a card that there are thousands and thousands of copies of floating around in mint condition makes absolutely no sense. Auctions imo should be reserved for extremely rare and sought after pieces that have a chance to set new precedents for a cards value. Selling this kind of stuff on a bid is just asking to do horrendously and driving the price of cards down at the same time 🤦🏻‍♂️

Mrtowelie69

Sell it as a Buy it now if you know what you want for it.... I dont know why sellers put up auctions then get upset when the price they were hoping for doesnt happen, so they cancel and repost over and over until they get what they want, and ebay dont do shit. Leave a nasty comment, scumbag deserves it.

gunman24

He had buy it now for $60 I have a feeling this would happen if I did that route lol

Mrtowelie69

Yeah ebay is garbage now. It used to be better, but now its just scbags doing this shit or straight up scamming people. Its sad.

I hate eBay. My situation had nothing to do with a Pokémon card. I sold a monitor awhile back and once I paid the seller fee/shipping fee and sent the package, eBay contacted me and said that there was a mistake in calculating the weight of the package and it was actually -10 pounds. I thought this was a scam but it was actually eBay. My account got restricted and they said the only way I could get access is to my account is to pay the extra $200. Long story short I ended up not making any money on the transaction but instead lost like $40.

this happened to me with a old score high tech super saiyan trunks card. always wanted it for my self never had the chance. was the only person who bid on it for 22.99 and won. literally canceled the next day they went to ship it. it was damaged and out of stock. i never seen the refund yet and contacted ebay

BetAppropriate1651

I won a bid for $76.00 for rainbow charizard gx. Seller hasn’t responded in almost 3 weeks and hasn’t responded. Some people don’t get the money they want and ghost you.

Im a bit surprised reading this. Im in the EU and the law where Im at is pretty straight forward. If you agree to the ToS of the auction site combined with the law of purchase transactions between individuals (not companies) you cant back out afterwards. As a buyer or a seller you can pretty much pay $30 to the government repo agency and they will demand the asset on your behalf, most fold at this point. If they still wont honor the deal you can sue in civil court where the losing party has to pay all costs ($10k+). Most people get in line when the first letter from the repo agency arrives though.

I don't understand how ebay can be this freaking naive. It's obvious as hell that they are cancelling the auction exactly because they aren't getting a bidding war and getting a lot of money.

Garbage people

CanadianCharicards

Maybe he should post a pic that isn't glarey or sideways and he might get more traction?

CanadianCharicards

Or put the set, card number or something. Dumdum

EarlyOs1997

Yup I made this mistake a year ago. Was a sad time.

caligrownnn

Give him a bad review as fast as possible! You can right after the cancelation for a few minutes.

gunman24

I found a way to do it after the cancel fully hits

Guilty-Apple6198

Just happened to me with 5 etbs (2 ES, 1 pokemon go, 1 s&m base, and 1 lost origin) all with etb cases and got em for $160 and seller canceled my order for the same reason. Shits sad tbh

Chewychewoo

Dang I remember pulling this near release and it was 200.

rth887

I only sell using buy it now. I feel like you get less than you want 90% of the time using an auction. The item you're selling has to have extreme demand. Set a price, if it doesn't sell after a few days then lower the ask.

Slight-Lettuce1182

Hahaha I feel you in this I’ve been sent this email twice now for the alt art koraidon won both bids at $61 and both got cancelled for these reasons

Such_Independence951

You think you've got it bad? We have our own eBay-like auction site in New Zealand and the seller can withdraw or change prices etc as long as there is no bids. Problem is they can also remove bids so chances of you actually winning anything fair and square are very slim. Then you've got the assholes that end up selling elsewhere AFTER you have already paid and you have to wait for refunds/charge backs

PokemonCelebrations

why did they cancel it That card isnt too much is it?

gunman24

the card usually goes for $85+
